Landlord thinks she can simply kick us out because she’s getting a divorce?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:53 AM PDT

    Florida (Orlando)

My landlord may be getting a divorce and came to us giving a big sob story, saying she may need to move into the house (and thus kicking us out).

We just signed the lease 2 months ago, have lived here for > 3 years, and have never been late on a payment.

    The lease doesn't mention anything about her being able to terminate early unless we violate the lease. It looks like it's a lease from Google. With that said, I fear she is trying to find "small" things to have documentation to kick us out;

For example, the wooden fence we have is falling apart. I put a SINGLE typical wooden fence board up to cover a hole in the fence so my dog doesn't get out. She sent us a certified mail saying not to make alterations to the house, and is asking us to sign it. I am going to refuse.

Can she kick us out just because of her own family issues?

Bank says they own my mortgage and I haven’t paid it in 18 years when I’ve been paying another bank

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 02:48 PM PDT

So I was served with legal documents today saying bank of NY Mellon is suing for title/ownership of my house claiming my mortgage is owned by them and I haven't paid since I bought my house in 2003.

I have been paying my mortgage every month to Bank of America so this makes no sense to me. Im working on finding a lawyer right now, but this is super stressful and scary.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them before? If you have any advice or suggestions on how to handle this I'd appreciate any help you can give. Thanks

Can I have my marriage be annulled if my partner and I have both been in a psych-ward and I have recordings of her saying she would poison me with antifreeze since it shows up as “heart complications” according to her?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 06:29 PM PDT

My wife and I are only 20 years old. We married originally because we both wanted to travel and I was about to join the military but it turns out my wife has 0 ambitions, treats me like I'm some stupid dog, and has no appreciation for what I want to do in life even if it involves making her own life easier...

I've been recording her for a while when she says weird stuff, ever since she totaled my car the both of us have been stressed out but she handles her stress with hitting me, making me look dumb in front of her family and threatening to kill me and she even threatened to kick my dogs ribs in over the phone while I was in a psych ward.

I have personally been in a psych ward 4 times in the past 2 years because I'm focused on my mental health and I feel like she isn't helping.

Also we both have an apartment we're supposed to move into on the 31st of this month and she's two months behind on rent at her current apartment.

(California) My Ten-year-old son is getting a notice that his account is being closed

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:58 AM PDT

Abstract: Toward the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021 my mother in law was kind of going wonky and "dating" someone she met online. I will not bore with those details... But around January we got a welcome packet in the mail congratulating our son, who was nine at the time, and is now ten, on opening his new checking account with Wells Fargo.

We were shocked, then investigated and they would not talk to us about the account. But then also said that his social was not showing up in the system as having an account. When we talked to my MiL, she stated that she only added him as a beneficiary and not as an account holder.

Fast forward to yesterday... we get a letter in the mail, from the Wells Fargo Fraud Division, advising my son that his account will be closed as of the 20th. THat this was due in part to possible fraudulent activities that it was being used for.

I called WF and they would not speak to me, they asked to speak to my son. Again... Ten years old... They told him that his social was not showing up in their system, and they have no way to research him by NAME.

As I understand it... at least in California... he is a minor... A minor cannot enter into any legal agreement on their own. They can not open a bank account without an adult and if they do open one with an adult as a co-owner or signer, they are still required to provide an SSN for the account.

So my question... and understanding that this is an informal medium and for the use of getting a general direction in which to go... What should I be doing? WF is telling me that he does not have an account under that SSN, then that they cannot look him up by name. We are getting these letters and now I am worried that my MiL is using his info for possible nefarious or bad activities. I have already told my wife that if I find that she is using his info for her own purposes, I am pressing charges.

    Whew.... Any thoughts?

[California] Uber eats is refusing to pay me the prop 22 adjustment. Is there any way I can use the labor board to get my funds?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 06:11 AM PDT

For over two months ive been delivering I haven't recieved a prop 22 adjustment or summary or anything and there have been times I know I made under the requirement and needed an adjustment. Everytime I message or call support, I get the same "it's a system error rest assure we're working to fix it immediately thank you for your patience", for over two months.

I can't wait any more and I was wondering if I can file a claim with the labor board to see my funds? Or anyway I can take more action?

Nurse friend fired for false positive drug test caused by known prescription drug she was on.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 10:23 AM PDT

My friend is a nurse in Florida. She was drug tested at work after she had a medical issue and the test came back positive for MDMA which she certainly had not done. she complained but it did no good, she talked to her primary doctor whom wrote a letter to the employer explaining one of her medications (trazadone) is known to cause such false positives and even gave examples of studies that have proven this.

She still has been unable to get anywhere with this.

I know Florida is a right to work state, does she have legal recourse in this situation and if so what should she expect? She is already starting a new job so she wont want her job back but she also wants to be cleared and obviously monetary compensation for wrongful termination would be nice. What do you think?

My old roommate never collected several high-value items from a storage unit we shared. I want to empty the unit, but I haven't been able to get ahold of him for months.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 08:05 PM PDT

    This is in Oklahoma.

About two years ago I had a roommate move in with me. As I had to clear space for him, and since he was downsizing, I rented a storage unit for us to share. For clarification, I am the only one who made payments on the unit, although he is listed as an authorized user of the unit. A bit less than a year ago he moved out, gathered a few of his items from the unit, but left behind several large, big ticket items such as a piano, a couple guitars, a few hundred bucks worth of electronics, and a set of antique statuettes. For three or four months following his moveout, I frequently texted him, messaged him on steam and discord, and called him asking if/when he intended to get his belongings. Every time I asked, he said he would collect them, but never followed up when I tried to set up a time/day.

It's now been nearly a year since he moved out, and I can't even get him to respond to my messages any more. I'm in the process of emptying the unit, and am now storing his stuff in my garage. The problem is, though, that I don't want to indefinitely house his items.

Legally, will there be any issue if I dispose/donate this stuff? Is there a timeline I have to abide by before I do so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(AK, USA) Man kills my dog, what are my options?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 01:23 PM PDT

Reposted I forgot to add location in the title.

Like the title says, a man killed my dog a few days ago. I've been destroyed with grief the last few days and I finally told my dad about it. He said I should look into reporting it to the AST (Alaska State Troopers).

The laws I read for AK show (which may not be complete or accurate) it's illegal to do unless the dog is actively attacking someone or livestock. And it may be considered animal cruelty as well. So I may be able to get more than just the monetary cost, probably $1,500. She was a trained lead sled dog with experience. 6 years old. But she been semi-retired and was my cuddle bug for the last 2 years, just doing recreational runs.

He has no livestock and when I spoke to him about if he had seen my dog, he told me he shot her and she ran off into the woods. No mention of attack. She was incredibly friendly and not vicious.

He admitted to me he shot her, then went on a rant about how much he likes to kill dogs and told me about all the different dogs he has killed. St. Bernards and labs and retrievers. I legit think he's a psychopath and would retaliate against me, but I'm not about to let this guy just kill my dog I need some form of justice for myself and her. This was the first time I ever met this man in my life. I didn't even know his name and he's telling me all this stuff.

Here's the kicker though… his house burned down the very next day, and the police, fire Marshall and FBI think it was criminal in nature because it's been happening a lot locally, buildings burning down that is.

I have no doubt if I try to sue him or take him to civil court or whatever court there is for the killing of a dog, he would get angry and try to accuse me of burning his house, or worse kill my other 2 dogs. The man really gives me bad vibes. So some crackhead or he himself in some half-assed attempt at insurance fraud burns the house right after he kills my dog so if I go after him for restitution (or "to be made whole" whatever the legal term) he is going to get the law in my ass for something that has nothing to do with me. I saw those pothead attorneys on Facebook, they say to shut the fuck up so that's what I'll do, but man… I've seen how those things go. It's all circumstantial evidence and shit, means motive and opportunity and crap like that. They'll just make a narrative and fit me into it.

How do I get restitution for my dead dog? Is now a bad time for something like this? Is there a statute of limitations of the killing of a pet?

How shitty is my life, like actually.

Am I obligated to carry out neighbor's requests about my property?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:07 PM PDT

My back yard (Ohio) abuts the back yard of my neighbor and they are separated by a fence (my fence). My neighbor has requested I do two things, which I do not think are my responsibility:

    1. Pay to have branches cut off trees that grow on my side, but branches hang over his property. I believe the law in my city/state places the responsibility of branch cutting on the person over whose property the branches hang. Am I liable if a branch of my tree that hangs over his yard, falls and breaks something on his property? He is a litigious type of person, and has now sent a certified letter to document his request.
    2. He has an in ground pool. He says the small gap in our fence (old fence leaning a bit creating a gap between a rock wall) is a hazard since my children could theoretically slip through to his yard and drown in his pool. He says I am being negligent by leaving the gap in the fence. Theoretically, yes my kids could probably sneak into his yard and drown, but with due respect, I'm not interested in safety advice, just legal responsibility advice.

    Thanks!

EDIT: The fence separates our yards, but he has an adequate fence enclosing his pool within the yard!

Landlord charged me for liability insurance after lease renewal despite sending our proof of insurance on move-in

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 08:09 AM PDT

    Hello,

I noticed in my billing this month that we had been paying extra for liability insurance from our landlord.

When we moved in I signed a 6 month lease. I provided a 12 month rental insurance agreement to our landlord that started in May 2020 - May 2021.

I renewed this lease in December, when they began charging me and the management company changed. I was on auto pay so I did not notice the charges at first.

When I noticed the charge this month, I messaged the landlord "why is liability being charged? I pay insurance through USAA and provided proof of this on move in"

They replied "your insurance was updated in June but the charge was not deleted, I have corrected this" to which they only refunded me for June. This made me suspicious because they wouldn't know my insurance auto renewed in June unless they had the documentation on hand from when I sent it in May 2020

I then stated "It appears I have been charged liability insurance since December 2020, I will need these charges refunded as I have had a year long policy with USAA since May 2020 that I sent proof of on move in, I'm not understanding how my insurance could have been updated in June 2021 when the only time you all have ever requested insurance documents from me was on move in"

They replied "it is your responsibility to give us your insurance. The last document of your lease states it will roll into our insurance if we do not have a policy on hand. I am not showing that we received a copy until March. Do you have an email proving you sent it before then? Otherwise the current balances will stand"

I replied with the documents and proof and now they are refusing to communicate with me and they are all work from home so I can only communicate through email or letter.

They are lying that I sent documents in March of this year, I haven't communicated with them outside of paying regular rent and maintenance since move in.

This is in the US, Tennessee

I was raped and sold for sex by a trafficker who ended up getting me pregnant. He abused me, isolated me, held me against my will, hired an attorney and took custody of my child through means of fraud.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 08:24 PM PDT

Texas. He has my child and I have no information on him. This has totally destroyed my mental health. I'm indigenous and don't know where to start on getting my baby back and seeking justice. I'm pretty sure I have trauma on my brain it hasn't been confirmed yet as I'm waiting on my dr appt. but it has taken a while to come to terms with everything. There's no way I should have to just let all of this go without justice. I will be scared for my families life once he gets news of this. I would say I'd be scared for mine too but I feel like he did a damn good job already at nearly killing me. I have nothing left to lose just want to know where to start without an attorney and how to do it as safely as possible as he is a threat to me and family. A DV shelter is not an option sadly

    Animal Abuse / Neglect Situation

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:43 AM PDT

I have a slightly complicated situation on my hands. I understand that I could simply call someone, but this is sensitive and I'm not sure how the situation applies to the actual laws around here. This person is a friend, and also someone who would go to great lengths to ruin our lives once this happens. I would rather not take steps with any organization or law enforcement until i'm sure it would do any good for these animals. There are a lot of animals in the house, and a lot of neglect and abuse to refer to. I'll break this up into sections.

(Images mentioned are not included here. I'm making a post on my profile for those images)

    Location: Maine, USA

    A. Ferrets, 2018. My wife was living with them at the time, and unknown to her, the person in question has not given water to her ferrets in at least a week. My wife did everything she could when she saw the condition one of the ferrets was in, but he refused water, and it seized in her arms until he died. I am unaware of the condition her current ferrets are in, although from the account of our friend who was living there until recently, they can barely turn around in their cage. Images in link below.

    B. Mass Killing, 2020 (October?) Our friend was living in the house when they moved cross country. Shortly before they left, they did a mass killing in the gas chamber of most of the rats. The bodies were dumped somewhere.

    C. Breeding Practices, 2018-Present The person in question Is ruthless when it comes to her rat breeding. I can maybe understand killing the violent babies, and freezing them for snake food. Although it is personally upsetting to me as a rat lover. But she will kill rats for anything from flinching, to simply looking "ugly" to her. They either have their necks snapped or are put in the gas chamber.

    D. Small Cages, Evidence from 2021 Animals are kept in very small cages with far too many animals. The rats are given no toys to play with, and often get in fights because of the stressful conditions. "Violent" rats are killed. They have no light, and are kept in a rack of cement mixing bins. They have no option to climb. (crucial for rat care)

    E. Neglected Cats Two of the 5 cats that they have are kept in the basement, where they have no windows, no beds, and no toys. One of these cats is a senior cat owned by one of their roommates. The cats are crying constantly, and are often forgotten about when it comes to food and water. There is no furniture on the basement. The senior cat in question has the option to live with the owners grandparents 6 hours away, where she would be pampered. If the animals are taken away, I don't think she will be adopted. I want to make sure that she is given to the grandparents. I would drive her to them, but I don't know how to get in contact unfortunately. The other cat has an issue with peeing on things that they have never attempted to fix. I'm nearly certain this wouldn't happen if he was in a good home.

    F. Cage for Disabled Cat. The cat pictured in the cage is blind and deaf, and until recently was doing fine. Her sister (pictured ontop of the cage) has always been protective and cares for her. They were always together. The disabled cat became unable to control her body, and is often covered in her own waste. They keep her in this cage to prevent her from messing up the house. She is often forgotten about when it comes to feeding.

    G. The "favorite" cats. Two of the cats, the previously mentioned sister and another senior cat, are cared for better then the others. Sometimes the owner puts her hands on the sister cat. They don't harm the senior cat from what we've seen.

    H. Service Dogs. She is known to hit her service dogs. One of them, the larger and younger of the two, is at least given the opportunity to go out and live life. The other dog is retired, gets no attention and is not taken on walks. She isn't too old for them. She's a german shepard mix.

    I. Cared for animals and innocent parties. Her husband has been very clear that he doesn't want any of these pets, and has tried very hard to get her to stop. He is not involved in the abuse. He has lizards and a snake that are cared for well by him. These animals are not in any danger.

There may be more I'm missing. Overall I just need to know if this has any standing as "real" abuse/neglect, or if it would be ignored by authorities. Do I have enough evidence? Should I plan to visit the house to gather more? I've contacted Mainely Rat rescue about the rat situation. Haven't heard back yet but will update.

Ex's mother is charging me storage instead of sending my belongings.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:50 AM PDT

The original agreed upon plan was I would be moving back in September. I left the apartment mid April to move states and my ex agreed to keep my belongings in their apartment. I broke things off with my ex mid May and have been trying to get them so send my belongings since. My ex said they would mail my belongings and never did, I offered to pay the costs and my ex's mother refused to send anything. I asked her if I could retrieve my belongings and she refused. She even refused to let mutual friends retrieve my items and instead notified me on June 30th that she had moved my belongings without permission into a storage unit and that she would stop paying the storage fee on July 1st. She's refusing to send pictures to verify that my belongings are in the unit or to show that the unit was secured. Local police have been updated twice on the situation (May 30, July 4) so as to keep a record of events. My belongings total less than $1500 so any expensive remedy won't necessarily be worth it and for the most part I've accepted the loss of my belongings. My question is what's the best course of legal action? As I see it's possible this is a theft of conversion, breach of verbal contract, or extortion?

TLDR: Ex's mother refuses to send belongings entrusted to my ex and is charging me storage with less than half a days notice.

Edit: Location was in Plano Texas and I've moved to Southern California

Update: Called the storage unit, they cut her locks and are denying her access. I'm still missing some items but the storage is working with me as far as securing my belongings.

    I want to know if I am emancipated as a 17 y/o

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 02:36 PM PDT

I am a 17 year old living in Texas, I am born American but lived most of my life in Mexico as my parents are Mexican, I've been living recently in the States as previously mentioned and I have a legal guardian for the state.

My parents send me money from Mexico to help me financially, although I do have a part-time job aside with my school studies. Times have been tight (for us and everyone) and I want to know if I apply for a stimulus check. Thing is I am not yet considered an adult by the government but at the same time, since my parents aren't US Citizens, I'm not sure if legally I would be considered an emancipated minor, which (according to my research) is the only way I can apply for a stimulus check (aside from being enlisted, which my family is very against).

I also found that to apply for the check one needs to have filed their taxes as an independent and have received less than 75k a year in gross income, which I definitely have.

    Any help is appreciated.

(Florida) Wife serves on our condo board and there was a lawsuit. The condo board is refusing to provide a lawyer for her appeal

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 02:19 PM PDT

My wife is on our condo board. One of our neighbors sued the condo board and all of the people who sit on the board. The condo board and all the board members except for my wife each individually settled with him and apologized. My wife was the only one who decided not to settle. The condo board paid for a lawyer for the court case also we didn't have to pay anything. Now she's lost the lawsuit and she is appealing the verdict. The condo board says she is on our own for her appeal and they won't be paying the lawyer anymore. Can they legally do this? We can't afford the lawsuit verdict and our neighbor's lawyer fees because it is a lot of money, much less her own lawyer on top of that. My wife was sued because of condo board stuff so they should have to pay for yhe lawyer.

(The lawsuit for discrimination because our neighbor is blind and the condo board wasn't receptive to his no maintenance instead of grass yard if that makes any difference. This happened in Florida)

Abusive mentally ill parent attempting to subpoena phone records after I went no contact with her, how do I stop this?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:27 AM PDT

South Carolina. I'm sure she'll find this post because she's stalked me all over the internet but I guess I dont really care anymore, just need to figure out a way to get her to leave me alone.

I'm 28, of sound body and mind, absolutely no reason or right for her to put a missing person's on me and attempt to go through my technology after I moved out of her house (moved back in temporarily, worst case scenario). I didnt get the chance to grab my laptop or game console before I got out, assuming she's had investigators unlock it all and comb through it. Any chance I can take legal action for that?

Found out today that she is in the process of getting a subpoena for my phone records. Does this mean she'll have access to not only calls but texts and internet access? I am being 100% harassed at this point. She's somehow in contact with former coworkers I havent thought about or spoken to in 6+ months, getting texts from them obviously fishing for info to give back to her or the investigators she hired (was contacted by one, he sent a text but i havent even opened it because I'm afraid even a read receipt on a text is too much info for my mother to know).

How do I avoid my phone records being uncovered by her? I'm an adult. Almost 30, pay all my bills and shit, living on my own, taking care of myself and my dog, I do not understand why this diagnosed bipolar sociopath (that is on her medical records!) is trying to ruin my life. Sorry if this isn't the sub for this, if anyone has other sub recommendations let me know please, I am at my wits end and just want to be free of this abuse and harassment. She is the reason I've struggled with ptsd for my entire life.

[MN] Being repeatedly messaged with new accounts by someone I no longer wish to have contact me - what are my options?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:34 PM PDT

    Hi there! Location is MN.

The backstory isn't super important, but I was internet friends with a guy from Arizona for a few months. We are both above 18. He got weird and I blocked him on everything, and things were fine until today. He made a new Snapchat at some point recently and messaged me (I figured out it was him by googling the username - it was attached to a Reddit account that is clearly his.), and I promptly blocked him. He has now made another Snapchat account to message me again, this time using his real name in the username. I don't know what he wants from me, but I don't want him to message me anymore.

I'm also concerned that, due to the nature of how we met in the first place, he may have saved nude images of me and I don't know what he is willing to do with those images.

What are my options here? I tried to research cyberstalking laws, but from what I understand the laws and definition of cyberstalking vary from state to state, and I don't know which state is relevant here - I'm in MN, and he's in AZ. Should I reply to him and tell him to no longer contact me, or would that just add fuel to the fire?

And, if it's relevant, I do know that there is a warrant out for his arrest in South Dakota. This was quite possibly the worst internet friend I could have made, LOL.

Update: Family Member's Ongoing Custody Battle: Failed Mediation and Attorney Has Long Haul COVID

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 01:38 PM PDT

This is a semi-update. The rest of this is a new question.

TL;DR: My husband and I were proposed as supervisors for visitation for my SIL and her ex-husband. The ex-husband refused to agree to us as supervisors but we expected that. Ex-husband was caught leaving 2 kids under the age of 5 home alone so he could go to bars and sleepover at a random woman's house. CPS was involved; this is where the custody battle started. Ex-BIL trying to fight for custody on the basis that my SIL is bisexual (ex-BIL outed her in court documents) and therefore a bad parent because it's exposing their kids to dangerous/immoral lifestyle.

More recently, their attempts at mediation failed. The mediator failed to understand a central provision of what my SIL was asking for on the visitation schedule and when they realized their mistake and submitted the correction to my ex-BIL and his attorney, my ex-BIL had a screaming fit and threw some stuff across a room. He walked out and ended the mediation. This was all against his attorney's advice. Despite even his own attorney urging him to come back to the table, he's insisting on moving this to trial.

My SIL is very frustrated with her attorney. The mediator's error was something that her attorney should have caught much earlier but didn't. When pressed about it, the attorney was evasive about it and wouldn't admit that they dropped the ball again. This is in addition to not being terribly responsive to email and phone calls and missing appointments and paperwork errors - nothing major but big enough that both the judge and the ex-BIL's attorney have noticed and while it wasn't an official rebuke, it wasn't okay either.

Previously, the attorney failed to respond to a contempt filing and that ended up almost costing my SIL several thousand dollars in contempt fines. It was thrown out at a subsequent hearing when the attorney admitted their error to the court and made clear it wasn't my SIL's error.

Now, witness lists are being set-up for the trial and a number of people that my ex-BIL has proposed as character witnesses regarding his parenting are individuals with criminal records for non-petty offenses (one has a conviction for statutory rape and another for felony assault with deadly weapon) and one of these people openly associates with a white supremacist organization (it's all over his social media, he doesn't hide it at all). My SIL's attorney is disengaged and passive about the whole thing; not really wanting to put time or interest into investigating these individuals who are standing up my ex-BIL to claim that he's a wonderful parent. These are people that would be around my nieces as they're basically my ex-BILs close friends and hard partying companions and are deeply flawed. Their credibility is terrible but the attorney doesn't seem to care even after being told everything and being shown documented proof.

The central reason for all of this: the attorney is having on going symptoms from long haul COVID. She really shouldn't be working at this point, given that the errors are piling up and her engagement with the case continues to spiral. The attorney's firm in the beginning apologized and promised to make this right but I think they're back to not really knowing what's going on again as we think the attorney is now telling her firm that she's better/fine when she really isn't at all. Since the firm is closed for the pandemic and everyone's working from home, I don't think they really have the full picture and they have relied to much on their firm member's word that she's 'fine'.

My SIL doesn't know what do at this point. She's paid out thousands of dollars to this attorney and their firm and doesn't have the money to start over on a new attorney with a new retainer. There's also the fact that it would delay the trial by months while the new attorney got up to speed. But there is a chance this is going to come down to a case where a disengaged and ineffective attorney might sink this custody case for my SIL. Opposing council is not a good attorney - he's made a lot of mistakes but he's way more engaged and by virtue of that looks better to the judge, who is also noticing what's going on.

Any insight on what if anything she can do at this point?

Can I allow police into my house? If they have a warrant to arrest my roommate.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:01 PM PDT

I got a Temporary Restraining Order against someone who lives with me.

If I have evidence that they violated the order, the police must arrest them. Am I allowed to open the door for police when they come or does that violate my roommate's 4th amendment rights?

Edit: I'm in the US (California).

Dealing with the Army Family Advocacy Program (FAP)

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 10:44 AM PDT

Have a Solider who is potentially being maliciously double tapped by a former spouse. He has full custody and has filed to update his parenting plan and increase child support due to former spouses lack of communication, continuity of care, and a promotion.

Former spouse attempts to file a temporary custody order to keep the child longer than the 5 week parenting plan allows claiming abuse. His civilian attorney asks the judge to dismiss the claim and the judge agrees. A few days later his is given a MPO stating is to not have contact with his child. He was only told this is what FAP has advised and he has an appointment next week to discuss abuse claims made against him.

My head is spinning at the level of fuckery going on here. I'm not even sure where to send this troop. TDS and legal aid are closed. He won't be able to seek counsel before his FAP appointment on Tuesday morning.

Any advice for my soldier. His son is high functioning autistic which makes things complicated. He's a great dad who's seems to be doing the right things.

Got some great advice from the folks over at r/army. But it seems like FAP has no oversight and could really do some damage to this person's career if he's not careful.

Threaten to pay $2300 to pay father for PI

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 06:26 AM PDT

So 3 years ago, I was talking to this girl who lied about her age. She was 14 I was 17 at the time. We use to send sexual text and I know I shoudnt have looking back at it but I talked to the father who filed a report (when I turned 18) and we got it all figured out and we went out separate ways. Now he is trying to get me to pay 2300 to drop the charges or go to court. I have only talked to the PI once and he told me either we get it dropped today or I was going to be arrested (this was Friday). The PI number is a North Carolina number and I'm in South Carolina but I don't understand where I stand legally and can't even talk to the PI since it's the weekend but I'm thinking it's a scam for me to send the dad money but I have no clue. I know I'm not the best at explains but I would love to know some advice or where I stand legally.

[California] My neighbor takes up all the parking

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 10:40 AM PDT

I live in a court/cul de sac. We (me and all my neighbors) have a shared parking area with 6 spaces plus parking on the curbs of our street in front of our houses. My neighbor (I believe he has a household of 3) however takes up 2 spots in his garage, 3 cars in his driveway, 5 of the parking spaces, plus the parking space on the street in front of my house. I have to park outside of my court sometimes because there's never any parking. I tried talking to him and it changed for only a week. Can I contact someone about this? We dont have an HOA and the city is rarely ever helpful.

Non parent giving consent for medical treatment

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 04:53 PM PDT

A close trusted (no longer) family member was watching our child. While they were watching them this family member took our child to a therapist without our consent and signed consent forms as if they were a legal guardian. This person lied to the the therapist about us, child's parents and only legal guardians, in what amounted to accusations of child abuse. After we found out about this incident we contacted the therapist and the therapist told us that we needed to provide documentation that we had reestablished custody of our child before the therapist would talk to us. Do we have any recourse with the family member? To us this seems like an incredible breech of medical consent laws and denial of parental rights. This happened in the US state of Minnesota.
