Posted: 07 Jul 2021 02:57 AM PDT I received an email of the Blue Cross Blue Shield stating that they have a class A action law suit about the violating trust something like that. Is this actually real or am I being scammed because money is money? [link] [comments] |
Claim denied due to non covered driver Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:50 PM PDT Located in Texas. I wanted to see if this is common or if there is any solution. Police were called to scene of accident where the driver at fault had no insurance. The police came and the driver suddenly had insurance with their mom's name on it. The police were satisfied and moved on after writing report. Now, a couple of weeks later the insurance copmpany says the daughter was not covered and claim is denied. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Allstate gave me the runaround after 8 weeks and are in a panic. What's the play? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 03:22 PM PDT
I was hit nearly 2 months ago by a driver that ran a red light. I've been in a rental for 50 days and my vehicle has been at a body shop since the accident. The other driver had insurance, thankfully, and I have been working with a claims agent at Allstate - my insurance hasn't been involved). She goes on vacation ALL the time, it's impossible to get a hold of her. There is also an auto adjuster who lowballed me on my vehicles value ($20k when it should have been $23-24k) 4 weeks ago, I tried negotiating and she didn't return my emails. Eventually found her supervisor who promised to review and never got back in touch with me. Yesterday, I got a panicked call from the claims handler. She tells me that there are a bunch of charges and we gotta settle this claim. $3,300 in charges from the bodyshop (towing, admin, storage, review). $2,000 in charges from the rental car $200 for baby car seat The agent is frazzled, apologized that things have taken so long. She says the other driver only has $25k in property damage coverage. So everyday that goes by, there is less money that goes to me from the settlement. That $20k payout for my car they offered is now at $19,500 which I find ridiculous. This has taken up a ton of my bandwidth and they seem to be screwing with me. Any opinions on how this has played out, and where to go from here? [link] [comments] |
Life Insurance when you have Bipolar Disorder Posted: 06 Jul 2021 05:35 PM PDT I currently have a good policy through my job, however we all know if something happens to my job I'll lose that policy. I have a 15 yr old and 14 yr old dependent. I am a single parent. I have tried applying for regular life insurance policy when I worked for State Farm, but was immediately denied. From what I understand it is near impossible to get a policy because Bipolar Disorder has a very high suicide rate. Now, I'm not looking for a policy that will make my kids rich nor am I looking to off myself. However, if I get hit by the proverbial bus the day after I lose my job, I need something that would pay for my funeral and help support them til they graduate college. Does anyone have any ideas? I know the premiums won't be cheap but is there anything out there? Thanks! P.S. I am in Missouri. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 06:20 PM PDT Am I out of luck here? Day1: Steve rear ends my perfectly functioning car. My trunk panel is all damaged Day2-5: Steve's insurance admits fault. My car is driving fine but has a damaged trunk panel. Day6: We take our car to a collision center pre-approved by Steve's insurance. Day6-20: Car's trunk panel gets fixed. Day21: I pick up the car from the collision center and within the first mile of driving the car, the mechanics starts acting up. Light sensors going off, car is revving at 4K rpm while idle, etc. We tow the car back to the collision place Day22: Steve's insurance says this isn't their problem Is there anything I can do to encourage Steve's insurance to help fix our car? How long until a hospital bill can no longer be owed? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 02:12 PM PDT I went and got some blood drawn for STDs about 4 months ago. This was a routine blood test for me. For some reason my insurance company and my clinic have been unable to agree with what should be billed/covered. I have called my clinic billing and my insurance probably 5 to 6 times the past few weeks to get this figured out. They are not keeping their promise of getting this figured out. I keep getting told to basically do nothing and the bill will eventually get figured out. However, it appears looking at my insurance account online and my billing account online with the clinic that nothing has even changed. Say this goes on for 2 years, at that point is the "patient responsibility" just forgotten and no longer owed? I remember reading somewhere it was 2 or 3 years? Live in Wisconsin, state employee full time, this is state employee health insurance. [link] [comments] |
Need advice in closing a water damage claim Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:45 PM PDT I had water damages in my house (2 bedrooms, living room and garage ceiling) caused by frozen pipes during the recent Texas (Houston) winter storm. I tried my best to save my belongings and did necessary actions to prevent further damages. The next day, I filed a loss claim then hired a water damage mitigation as soon as possible (they arrived 1 week later). After the mitigation process, insurance adjuster came and inspected all of the damages. A month after the loss event, insurance company issued a separate check for mitigation and ACV (less deductible and depreciation). I hired a contractor and they just completed repairing/restoring my house. All water damaged areas are repaired/restored from floors, ceilings, walls and paint. My house looks better than before. So now my issue is I didn't provide the scope of work given by the insurance to my contractor (contractor asked about it, but didn't insist) and the total cost of repair amounted to only half of the ACV check. All repairs/restoration done are still based on the scope of work but didn't follow all of them. How do I explain all of this to my insurance? Can I just return the remaining amount from the ACV check? Also, my insurance company wants a copy of a "cancelled check" for deductible, what does that mean? I just want to get over this and not to think about it anymore. I greatly appreciate any of your responses. [link] [comments] |

Can car insurance company deny a claim if you we're previously uninsured? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:15 PM PDT I bought a car a few months ago and bought insurance for it. As it turns out, my insurance agent screwed me over by applying that payment to my old car's policy and never put the new car on the policy. So i was unknowingly driving without insurance for a few months. When i found out, i got angry and switched company. Like 3 weeks after switching, someone dings my car so im filing a claim to get the dent/scratches repaired. Now the new company is asking me if my car was previously insured before switching since its a new car. I find this strange that they're asking about previous insurance when i'm already insured with them and also unsure what to tell them b/c I don't want them to somehow use this as a reason to deny my claim. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
My mom hit a deer in my car. Insurance Question Posted: 06 Jul 2021 06:40 PM PDT My mom hit a deer in my car today. The car is owned by my grandpa and he bought it for me as my first car. I am on the insurance for the car as well as him, she (my mother) is not. I am fully covered with collusion on my insurance by state farm in Ohio. She says my payments will not go up because it was a deer and not a collision with another vehicle. My vehicle definitely needs repairs as the front end is pretty bumped up. She wants me to say it was me who hit it. Should I do that? Will her insurance be affected in any way if I say it was her or that I was a passenger in the car? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Edit: My mom has car insurance with Statefarm as well. She wants me to say I was the driver because she hasn't paid her payments for her own insurance. Car Insurance questions after my first accident Posted: 06 Jul 2021 06:18 PM PDT Hey all, thanks a lot for your time to read this post. My parked car was hit today from the back. (Their fault, got a police report and insurance on my side) We exchanged information and I filed a claim with the Geico. I gave them their policy number and information and they told me in order to start the repair and talk about giving me a rental car the other party needs to file their claim also. It has been all day and they haven't filed a claim yet so I'm gonna call the insurance company and then if its still not filed, call the other party directly and ask to file and take care of it. (And hope that they understand my situation and file right away) I have some questions for you. The accident got me bad because I commute 3 hours to work every week. My insurance doesn't cover rental car and im not even sure the other party's insurance will..(will it?) Is there any way I can squeeze out from insurance a rental car for myself by Friday? What are the proper steps i can take for that? Another question is about the value of the car. I understand that the damage will be fixed, car isn't totaled but its not a couple scratches either. Even after them repairing it, the car will still have an accident report on file which will bring its value down significantly. Is there any way I can be compensated for that? Thanks a lot for the help. It never happened to me before I started driving a few months ago and I really wanna make sure im getting out of this properly. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 05:36 PM PDT Hello Everyone So after last night's hail storm I discovered some damage on my vehicle and from the looks of it, it doesn't look bad but upon closer inspection I have over 100 dents on the roof and hood, ranging for small to significantly visible. Called my insurance company and started a claim. I'm in Ontario. What are your claim adjusters telling you? I'm hearing different things from different people from they can't fix small dents like that to the car is a write off. I have a 2021 Highlander with only 3500km. I'm at a lost as to what to expect. Please help. [link] [comments] |
Can employer force you to take group life insurance policy? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:53 AM PDT In what seems like a pretty unique situation, but wondering if it is possible to opt out of an employer paid group life insurance policy? Have been going around a bit with my soon to be new employer's HR department trying to find a way to opt me out of their group life insurance policy. The reason I want to do this is if I become insured under a new group life policy, I lose the portability option on my current plan and my current plan is worth a lot more than the new plan. Some may say just go get an individual policy, but I have prior health conditions that basically make me uninsurable. Both plans are with the Standard. HR has contacted the Standard and now I guess they are talking to underwriting. Anyone have any experience with this? Edit: Location is Georgia [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 01:11 PM PDT Suppose I hurt my knee pretty badly right before I start a new job. Based on my own history of knee injuries (multiple torn meniscus and *CLs) I know this one is a doosie and will probably need an MRI to explore it, surgery and a bunch of PT to follow it up, but I'll be able to do basic life and can put off the doctors visits and surgery for a couple months. The new job has its insurance go into effect the first of the month after I join the company. Would it be fraud for me to choose a lower deductible/lower OOP max policy than I was previously carrying if I know that I will be having this large expense coming up? [link] [comments] |
How to keep the money and repair myself Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:34 AM PDT Unfortunately someone backed into me the other day and they had a ball hitch so it did quite some damage to my rear door,, anyone know how I just keep the claim estate money and repair myself? Idaho USA [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 04:02 PM PDT Edited to say this happened in Florida, USA and my policy and home state is Alabama, USA if that matters. As stated in title, I backed into a parked car in a residential area last night causing minor damage to their car (side mirror and door panel) and virtually no damage to my car (minor bumper scratches). I couldn't find the owner so I left a note on the windshield with my name and contact information. It has been nearly 24 hours and I haven't received a response, should I file a claim with my insurance company? Is there potential issues with waiting to file a claim? Can I get in trouble for a hit and run even though I left my information? This is my first accident so I'm not sure what steps I need to take. [link] [comments] |
Had a car accident 4 days ago. Should I do a 1st party or 3rd party claim? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 03:16 PM PDT I'm in NC. To start, nobody got hurt. I'm not at fault since "the other driver failed to yield right of way, made a left turn onto me and collided". My car got towed and is currently not drivable since it got recked, estimated damage cost is $2,500. The other person's estimated damage cost is $1,000. What concerns me the most is an increased insurance rate and the accident being recorded on my driving record for 3 years. This is my first accident and I have full coverage. First thing I did after the accident was report it to my insurance, they gave me a claim number. My next step is to decide if I want to proceed and file using my insurance (schedule inspection, rental, repair) or not. My question is: Did I already mess up? Does the fact that I started the claim in the first place going to affect my premium or is it afterwards, IF I decide to use my insurance? I made a claim to the other insurance the next day, so I currently have two claims open. Additionally, what are the pros and cons of a 1st party vs 3rd party claim? My car is still stuck on storage. I feel pressured to make this decision. Thx. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 04:46 PM PDT I have an at fault accident from little over two years ago. I have a vandalism claim from about 4 months ago. I'm a 21 y/o M from the Midwest and pay $233/month. My insurance didn't go up from the accident due to forgiveness and my deductible for the vandalism was $0. Currently 100/300/100. My main question being when will insurance companies not look at the accident? In terms of records kept by the state (DMV?) I don't know but it and the ticket that came along with it won't show up on a background check starting sometime in a few weeks but I'm wondering if insurance companies keep a different record for this? I plan on shopping around but generally trying to get a better idea of when this will no longer be of concern to insurance companies. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
I’m freaking out….will I be responsible for my whole surgery!? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:36 AM PDT I've had the same health insurance for years through my employer. My husband got a new job in January and we knew the kids and I would be switching to his insurance starting July 1st (when mine ended due to not working enough hours at my job). I had surgery at the end of April but just haven't paid the bill yet. I always like to wait as bills seem to change. I have about $800 I am responsible for (for the $16,000 surgery). So June 30th comes and my insurance ends. July 1st we get signed up for my husband's insurance. Today I get a letter from my insurance company informing me that our insurance has ended (no surprise there). But then I read on and it says "Without Medical coverage, you will be responsible for paying the full cost of any healthcare services". [link] [comments] |
H06 refund check never gets sent after multiple calls. Posted: 06 Jul 2021 03:29 PM PDT Hi, I had a policy with Geico/Assurant for condo insurance. I called and canceled it back in January and they were sending me a refund check for approx $220. Refund check never came, and I've called them 3-4 times to check on payment. Each time the operator on the phone agrees that payment should have been made, they see where I've requested a refund multiple times, and tells me some version of a new check is on the way. I've also emailed them with no reply. It is now July and I haven't received the refund check. Any way to elevate this, get their attention to actually send the check? Although $200 isn't a lot I'm determined to not let Geico keep it. Insurance was for a condo in MA and I'm currently living in CA. They have my updated address. Do I call a 5th time and ask to speak to a manager? Is their a regulatory agency I can write to? Thanks [link] [comments] |
