What skills can I learn from working in my small family business? I have no job title or specific job description in my family business. I handle the online account (all i do is print the orders & reply to inquiries) and Im just there if they need me. hand over papers, confirm online payments, etc.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 06:46 PM PDT

Im not really learning anything and if I'm asked what my skills are or asked what I do, I don't know what to say. What can I do? I thought i could make sales reports for the online account? What else? I have no one to mentor me, my parents just tell me to go to the store but they don't teach me anything. I'm not really being taught how to run the business and there isn't much I can get from the employees (a cashier and someone who packs the orders). Tips? Im starting to feel like I made the wrong choice to work in the family business :(

    confused with ACH payment

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:04 PM PDT

Hi all, as a sole proprietator, I am slightly confused with ACH payment. I understand it's a form of electronic transfer that utilized auto clearing system. but when I created a free account on veem to make vendor payment, it seems like the vendor must have an account on it as well.

I thought ACH works like wire transfer where recipient is able to receive payment by just providing ABA routing and account number. Do I always have to ask what specific ACH merchant they use and use the same system?

My Chase checking account has option to send money via Zelle (with crappy daily limit), but it seems like it also requires the recipient to have signed up to use Zelle.

    How does this work?

How to find a legitimate investor?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 11:33 AM PDT

My girlfriend and i run a small startup. We started beginning of this year and made some serious steps already. We made better sales than we expected and now it's time to go bigger. we want to open a branch and hire staff.

Due to small funds, we need an investor. We're in the automobile sector and have no serious connections into the finance world. I'm a former chef, my girlfriend is a bachelor graphicdesigner.

We need to raise funds to expand. Where do i start looking for an investor? We're based in Thailand, Asia. I'm european, she's thai.

Receiving violent threats, can people find my home address through my business?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 01:19 PM PDT

Not sure if this is the correct place to post but I'm trying anyways.

I'm speaking for my father who has a business,

We have recently been involved with dangerous people who are sending us aggressive texts and phone calls, long story but the police are on our side and investigating everything. Unfortunately they can't do much since it's a "civil matter" and since then they have my business address through google and are threatening to go there and cause trouble by bringing multiple people.

We are currently living in fear and I'm afraid they will find our home address. Is there any way they could find a home address somehow associated with the company?

These guys don't look too smart but we're still afraid they come to us.

    Get Your Bathroom BACK!

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 08:49 PM PDT

Everywhere I've worked there has been a "Mad Shatter" "Poo and Shooer" "Big Shit Bandit" or "Cloggy McGee" that obliterates the bathroom, doesn't attempt to clean up after themselves, and doesn't use the febreeze so that crap flavored air can hit an innocent potty goer so hard in the face that they end up gagging and gasping for air as they try to take a leak.

We have to stand up for ourselves people. Let's invest in a privately owned agency that you can call when a mad shatter strikes the bathroom at your place of business.

Simply call the emergency hotline and describe the scent that made your face turn blue. Do you think they ate roadkill? Expired Taco Bell? Or anything from White Castle?

We'll send a tactical squad of armored units equipped with DNA sampling kits and take DNA samples from all employees until we find a match and catch the Mad Shatter once and for all. That way they can be shamed and brought to justice to the fullest extent of the law, which is probably at least 1 day of house arrest.

Leave a message and Get Your Bathroom BACK America!

    Peace ✌

    How to reach clients effectively

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:06 AM PDT

First and foremost, my goal is not to self promote. I'm mainly looking for ideas or thoughts to help me in my endeavors. For this reason, I'll purposely omit some information such as my region and other more specific information that could help identify my business.

I recently started my business where I offer multiple services to small businesses. These services include management consulting, business plan writing, strategic analysis, etc.

I focus mainly on problem solving for clients to help them achieve their goals or improve their efficiency in their processes.

Currently, my main problem comes from marketing which is by far my biggest gap. I don't know how to reach my target customers in the best possible way. I have tried a few methods that seem to be completely useless so far. I can't wait for the covid situation to end so I can start networking again, but in the meantime, I don't know what concrete action I can take.

If you have any ideas, comments or feedbacks, I'm open to feedback. Thanks to all of you.

    Best business management software?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 11:57 AM PDT

I'm looking for an all-in-one software, or a software with good integration, for managing a small business. This is for a retail clothing store that is appointment-based. I'm looking for a program that allows us to schedule appointments for our employees, take and track new orders, manage customers and so on. The currently programs we use are Appointment Plus (scheduling), Lightspeed (payments), Magento (order and customer management)

    Thanks in advance.

    How do I sell 10k t-shirts?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 11:36 AM PDT

Hello business people, I have a contact from Bangladesh (one of the biggest fabric exporting countries in the world), who can supply top quality t-shirts, polos and male and female undergarments every month. We are looking to formulate a long-term partnership with a company who're looking for top quality products and a reliable supplier. We are happy to do the branding i.e. tags for your brand as well. If interested, we can send samples to take a closer look at the products.

If anyone can provide me with an idea as to where or how I would be able to contact a potential client like the above, would be greatly appreciated.

If you work in online apps all day - I really need your help!

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:58 AM PDT

Would you take this 3-minute survey?

Who Am I: Hi Redditors, I'm Amber. I started my career in customer support and moved around to business consulting, business development, and have ended up in product development at my current company. Although I've gathered feedback before, I'm having a hard time working from home. Mostly I'm physically not able to visit companies or people at the office or home to get a sense of what they spend their time on, throughout the day. And no one really wants to share their home and many screens all day long for me to watch (it's just a little more creepy online).

What I found: In all of my personal experience and consulting 120+ individual companies throughout all their departments I came to realize some harsh realities.

    • No one really has the time or money to wait for an integration to connect everything for them and nothing they can buy/build will be unique to them the way they work best.
    • It's too hard to adapt to many online systems at once (for any single task); people are often in 3-6+ online apps just for a single task.
    • Doing it is one thing, training others to do it and expecting them to get and be better at it are two different and great hurdles in themselves.
    • Not everything we do can be pulled up, started, and completed in one sitting, so you kind of have to remember, write down, or manage bookmarks to get back to it.
    • Companies particularly had a great gap between what people wanted to put their time/money into vs what the decision makes of the company would allow
    • When a business wants to do something 'new' it's in addition to everything else one would already do so it takes more time and slows them down more instead of helping them
    • COVID forced the world to work from home and try to face these problems, but it's only been met with 'waiting for life to go back to normal' and refusal to commit to the long-term need to just work online faster.

What I'm working on now: I want to create more useful UX driven solutions that help people organize and work faster while in multiple online applications at the same time that's more unique to the individual, and allows Salespeople to benefit from how Engineering reps do things, and vice versa-whatever saves us time! Right now, I am trying to gather information at this stage (not ready to present a solution just yet!).

What do I want: In order to get a sense of where you spend your time and what you actually want to spend your time on, would you take my survey?

Why I want it: I really want to dive into what and how different people need different things, in order to identify which are the biggest problems we all have. The survey contains 15 questions and takes less than 3 minutes to fill out. All responses are anonymous unless you choose to include your email in a DM, to be in a follow-up that will include the summary of all responses! I'm aiming to get all responses by the end of Friday (6/11). Your survey results will help me understand how everyone is a little different (or the same) so that I may come up with a great solution that helps save people real-time while doing more things, in more places - all darn day long!

Why am I here: How can we all learn from each other and avoid the pitfalls of working on even more online applications throughout our workday? I want to hear from you and what you are spending your time on, and what you want to be spending your time on.

If you have any questions/suggestions on the survey itself, please comment below. Thank you for giving me a few minutes of your time. I can't wait to see what comes out of this!
