Posted: 03 Apr 2021 08:23 PM PDT My plan (Texas) covers "true" emergencies at a different rate than non-true emergencies for certain providers (tiered plan). So, my question is would symptoms that would seem emergent be considered a "true" emergency even if the diagnosis ended up being something relatively benign? For example their "true" emergencies are things like chest pain, difficulty breathing, and change in vision. Would these still be billed as "true" emergencies even if they were found to be caused by something like anxiety, bronchitis, or an aura from a migraine? Thanks for any input [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:05 PM PDT Hey all, I purchased my first home 2 years ago and in the rush of everything just signed on to any insurance to satisfy my mortgage requirements. Anyways, I received a renewal notice, and on the renewal notice it is indicated that my home has a 2 car garage, but it only has a 1 car garage. It indicates I have 2 full bathrooms but I only have 1.5 baths. Do these things increase my insurance premium? [link] [comments] |
Help! No one taught me anything and now I’m guessing. Posted: 03 Apr 2021 09:22 AM PDT I'm a 23 year old male and have no insurance. I just moved to Phoenix Arizona and I need to go to the dermatologist badly. I need to see the dentist. No one tells me what insurance is good or bad. I work at a circle k and upon my arrival I was opted to choose insurance "X" of my choosing. I had no idea what to pick. I chose some random dental and have no idea on anything else. I have usaa and have heard about getting insurance through them? How much does it cost? What will it cover? Please help I don't know how to adult yet and it's killing me. [link] [comments] |
Guy backed up into my car in a parking lot, do we both give each other our insurance info? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 02:23 AM PDT Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. I was behind a guy in a parking lot and he backed up into my front fender fast enough that I didn't think to honk. We both got out, he said sorry, didn't see me, and he gave me his insurance card to take a picture. We also exchanged phone numbers. Later on he texted me saying his insurance company needs my insurance info, so without thinking I sent him a picture of my card. Should I not have done this? I didn't think anything of it until an hour later. He could claim I hit his car now that he has my insurance info. Or is it normal to both exchange cards? Never really been through this type of accident before, but it seems like it would be his word against mine. I did have a passenger in my car as a witness and he did not. He didn't file a claim against me, I'm just wondering if I shouldn't have given him my info. [link] [comments] |
Should I have a video tour through our home on hand in case of a major loss? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 09:45 AM PDT Something I have been thinking I need to do is to have a video tour through our home to keep on my phone and iCloud in case of a major loss (fire, tornado, etc...). Is this something that's recommended? If so, what kind of information do I need to include in the video? Construction date, purchase price/location, age..? LocationBot says I need to include a location. I'm in the US of A in the great state of Illinois. [link] [comments] |
Comprehensive and Collision on Older Vehicles (CA) Posted: 04 Apr 2021 01:58 AM PDT I own two older vehicles, and currently carry comprehensive and collision on both of them. On my SUV, with a book value of around 5k, the premium for comp is $14 annually and collision is $62. My sedan is worth about 10K and the comp premium is $90 and the collision is $418. The reason I have full coverage on both cars is because I have been hit (back bumper at stop signs every single time, 0% fault on me) numerous times over the past 10 years, and when I have tried to deal with the at fault drivers insurance directly, and have found that it's just easier to have the claim handled by my own carrier. I've had to utilize my underinsured motorist coverage three times because of the stupid low property damage requirements in California. When my old sedan was hit, the bumper cover alone nearly used up the at fault's insurance and I fear being in a position where I am stuck with a half fixed vehicle because of someone else's mistake. I have been considering dropping collision on both vehicles, but am hesitant to because it would be a financial strain to replace my vehicles and I would just prefer to have my own insurance company deal with it, but I am wondering if I should just drop collision and hope that I am not found at fault should I get into another accident. I appreciate any input! [link] [comments] |
insurance check and signature of mortgage company Posted: 03 Apr 2021 08:14 PM PDT So we received a a check from our insurance company for repairs that need to be done. It says that the mortgage company needs to sign it. So I send in the check and then receive it signed but with almost 50% less money on the check. How the hell am I supposed to pay the contractor? They didn't even explain why they gave back only around 50%. Also why is the mortgage company paying us and not the insurance company? [link] [comments] |
Best credit card for rental car insurance Posted: 03 Apr 2021 10:50 PM PDT Which credit card usually provide good insurance coverage for a rental car? I always waive all coverage from the car rental company, hoping my personal car insurance or credit card that I use will provide the coverage. I have Bank of America Cash Rewards card, Chase Amazon Prime card, Discover card and Citibank Costco card. [link] [comments] |
Supplemental insurance for pregnancy? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:05 PM PDT Hello! My husband and I are planning on starting a family this year and I am trying to be as proactive as possible. We both work full time and I am on his health insurance plan. I can take advantage of short term disability through my job, but I am looking into supplement insurance through Aflac or something similar to help cover any additional costs. (Like if I need a c-section or something) Does anyone have advice on if this is worth it, and if it is, what brands can I consider? I am based in Maryland, if that's relevant. Thanks in advance! Should I get a vehicle assessment before filing a claim? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 09:43 PM PDT I was rear-ended today (hit and run) and obviously have some pretty expensive rear vehicle damage. I've never needed to file an insurance claim and didn't know if I should take the car to my mechanic for an estimate before making a claim or if I should just get the claims process started. Can anybody give advice? Also, the accident happened in Mississippi while on a trip. I won't be able to get back to Michigan for several days. Is it okay to wait to make the claim? [link] [comments] |
Employer insurance won't cover surgery. Need advice exploring options. Posted: 03 Apr 2021 09:37 PM PDT Currently purchasing insurance through my employer. I had planned on getting an operation done this year to treat obstructive sleep apnea (orthognathic surgery). After some back and forth with the surgeon, the insurance agency, and the benefits provider, it seems this type of surgery is an automatic 'no' when it comes to coverage. I'm debating leaving my employer network and purchasing insurance solo. The operation comes out at around $48k when billed to insurance ($35k without insurance ) so even if I had to pay a little more it may be worth it. That said, are there any other avenues to explore before doing this? I was looking into something like supplemental insurance but doubt they would cover something like this. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 01:14 AM PDT So my insurance didn't give me coverage for my totaled car because I stupidly told them I was driving for postmates. Didn't do it often it was a once in a while thing. So now i'm left with a totaled car that I still have to make payments for. The other person involved insurance is willing to help but they need to know which insurance to proceed with and so I went with postmates since im SOL with my personal insurance. So I basically admitted to an agent from the other persons insurance that I was doing postmates. I reported the accident to postmates consequently my insurance and the other persons insurance found out through the postmates claim. I'm pretty screwed but what do you think would be the best step forward? Should I sell for parts and put towards loan? Repair vehicle with damages up to 10k? Would I be able to get money from other persons insurance claiming injury and such? (I was making a left at an intersection so it was considered my fault) Im a little lost and would appreciate any type of advice. [link] [comments] |
(Florida) State Farm Can't Decide What To Do With My Car Posted: 03 Apr 2021 02:58 PM PDT Basically, a t-bone accident occurred where a person ran a solid red light into my car. State Farm called and said that my car is equally fixable as it is able to be totaled. They said they're bringing in another estimator/adjuster to decide. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to convince them one way or the other? [link] [comments] |
CA AAA insurance who lives in Oregon question Posted: 03 Apr 2021 08:29 PM PDT I originally from California and still a California resident. I live in Oregon now. Posted: 03 Apr 2021 04:24 PM PDT Alright guys i have a bit of a situation going on, earlier today i had my vehicle in a no park zone for a brief moment i was actually closing the trunk of my car as it had popped open, i did have my hazards turned on, as i was getting in my car a older lady who was leaving her parking spot completely ignored me and hit my door and she hit it hard i swear if i had not moved my leg on time she would have snapped it off with my door she completely destroyed the door she actually hit it twice because she tried to speed off ! I know i was parked where i shouldn't but what happens next ? She did hit a stationary vehicle. She went full Karen mode on me all i wanted was to exchange info and a employee of the store finally convinced her. Who was at fault ? Will it be 50/50 should i go through my current carrier or wait until the claim resolves with the other company ? Any advice will be appreciated. Edit:this all happened in Arizona [link] [comments] |
What is the process of claiming car insurance in India? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT One day, my neighbour hit my parked car and it got damaged really bad. What happens if I file an complaint (FIR) to get my car repaired using his third party insurance? Also, I was told that if I file a complaint my car will be ceased by police for weeks (months). If this is true how can I get it back? It would be great if someone can explain the entire process and timeline to me. [link] [comments] |
Help getting me insurance for therapy? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 07:24 PM PDT Hello all. Until recently, I've been under health insurance from my father's job. Recently due to disagreements in the workplace my father was terminated and now for the first time in 20 years (i am 23) we are without any health insurance. I'm in illinois, and before this, i went to my doctor and got a referral for therapy from him. Now that I am not covered by insurance, can i still get therapy with this referral? If not, does medicaid cover it? I am completely in the loss (not even sure how to apply for medicaid or if I'm legible for any time of health insurance at least for myself). I guess to summarize, how can I find more information on my options for insurance and if I'm looking for therapy services that are covered. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:59 PM PDT Hey all So I'm located in Ontario, Canada. I have a Toyota Prius, and recently I got a deal with Belairdirect for $220 full coverage. I was previously with Intact, where I was paying $550. I am a little tight on money, and I need a six seater for home, and I was looking for a Mazda Mazda5 when I came across one that was being sold for $950. Problem is, the title is rebuilt. What would my premium be, and what would the difference be from a clean title car? Thanks for reading!!! [link] [comments] |
Involved in 2 car collision with other party claiming liability, need advice/guidance Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:42 PM PDT This happened in Texas. Please bare with me as these are probably some dumb questions. I was involved in a 2 car collision the other day where the other party negligently crossed a busy intersection without looking which resulted in me t-boning them. Other party claimed liability at the scene and on the police report filed (albeit I have no copy of that yet). I immediately filed a claim through MY insurance and provided them the other party's insurance information. Based on what I've been reading online, I see many people contact/file a claim through the other party's insurance first. 1) Did I make a mistake by filing a claim through my insurance instead of directly calling the other party's insurance company? (Different insurers). Assuming other party is deemed 100% liable, would there be any chance my premium would increase because of what I did? I always assumed that in the event of an accident, regardless of who is liable, you file a claim through your insurance and they will handle contacting the other party to determine liability? Is this incorrect? 2) Who determines whether my car is a total loss? Is it my insurance company's adjuster, other party's adjuster, or the bodyshop the car was/will be towed to? 3) I have some soft tissue injuries that are manifesting itself a couple of days later. Do I notify my insurance company about these or contact the other company's BI person? Do I need a lawyer? [link] [comments] |
Faulty rear window replacement by TD Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:32 PM PDT My rear window was broken in a parking lot last month in Toronto, I took the car to TD insurance for replacement and after I received the car, the newly installed window is wavy and it distorts vision. I talked to them again and they were supposed to order a new one and check if it's fine or not and let me know if I want to replace it again. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard back and they don't return my calls or email. I want to know what are my options if they continue not responding? [link] [comments] |
Nashville storm damage insurance taking forever to get us back in our house Posted: 03 Apr 2021 05:35 PM PDT Neighbors tree limb took out my weather head and damaged my roof, I have no power and been living in a hotel for one week with nothing getting done. I gave him multiple quotes and insurance adjuster is acting cheap like the tree clean up, 3 quotes for $3000 and he will only pay $1200, finally begged tree service across the street to do it for $1500. 2 roofing contractors telling me I have hail damage and need new roof which he won't do. House is 21 yrs old. We are covered for $200,000 dwelling expenses for 12 months. We had high winds and strong hail I have videos. We have heard nothing from him since Tuesday. Am I going to get screwed??? Costing us $1000 a week for hotel plus food. Ugh!!!! We have Farm Bureau. [link] [comments] |
Looking to change auto insurance providers Posted: 03 Apr 2021 12:51 PM PDT I live in Georgia and am currently insured through Nationwide for auto and home. I've had my auto insurance through them for 32 years. I have three vehicles and I've always felt like Nationwide has been charging a lot. I got a quote from Progressive and it's over $200 less per month for the same coverage. I'm wondering what the downsides are for switching to Progressive. Are they known to drop people after an accident? Why are they so much cheaper? [link] [comments] |
(HELP) Rental car damage estimate Posted: 03 Apr 2021 04:31 PM PDT I scraped my Enterprise rental car against a cement pillar while getting out of a tight parking spot in their garage. There's a pretty heavy scratch (photos here) on the back door and a small dent above the back wheel. It's my first accident and I didn't opt for CDW since I'm supposed to be covered through my credit card insurance. For reference, the car is a 2020 Passat. I'm hoping someone could give me an estimate (in CAD) for what I should expect the repairs to cost because I've heard rental companies rip you off when they send it for repairs. Basically, if the damage is over $1k I need to file a police report in order to claim it with my CC insurance. Any advice/input would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Apr 2021 02:53 PM PDT I got in a car accident 5 days ago in California. I was going straight, my light was turned orange just prior to entering the intersection. I decided to proceed. There was another car in the opposite direction trying to make a left turn (after I entered the intersection). I pressed the brakes as hard as I can and steered my car to the left direction. I ended up hitting the car making the left turn on the rear passenger side with my right side of the car. I called the police and they refused to come to the scene. I filed a claim with my insurance company on the accident scene and got the information of the other driver. The second day I tried to contact my adjustor, but got no response. The adjustor tried calling me but I didn't hear it and when I called back he didn't answer. I ended up contacting my insurance company again, they said that the other party is suing me for injuries and property damage. And they told me that the adjustor will contact me again very soon. 2 days later I got an email saying that I was found guilty by my adjustor. I'm really confused, this is my first car accident (I've been driving for 7 years). What should I do? Should I file a lawsuit? [link] [comments] |
