Trying to have the best possible overview over my Finances.. Posted: 29 Apr 2021 01:27 AM PDT Hello Everyone Im 22years old and run a Web Agency. I try to have a clear Overview over my Finances and I think there must be a tool that would help me achieve this. My Business Invoices are handled by Freshbooks and i also keep track of most expenses there.. My Problem is, that I dont have 1 Tool that gives me the perfect overview of my expenses and my Income.
As you can see, i try to have a good overview but it isn't perfect at all.. Is there a tool you guys know that kinda combines all of this in one tool? Since Freshbooks for example doesn't allow me to see how much my Balance is. But the Wallet App does, but there i cant bill Clients. I hope it makes sense, i have this problem for a long time now... Hiring employees or making them partners. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:48 PM PDT Hi everyone, just seeking for some advise from more experienced people who share their business ownership with other people. I own, together with 3 other dudes, an small media production company. We mainly do video production, but we also provided other services such as graphic design, social media management, photography, etc. We have 3 employees. Which are great people. And we know them for a long time, before even hiring them. They way I would like for my company to grow is in a more horizontal way. I wish our employees could be a core part of the company as well. And we all grow together. My associates do not see it the same way. They rather just keep growing and hiring people as employees. They feel okay being the owners and the ones taking desitions. I know this is a very common approach. But I want to try to build something more collaborative and equal, rather than the usual piramid way of organization. Well I hope this is clear, and someone with more experienced can share a word of advise. [link] [comments] |
A shot in the dark, Here goes everything! Posted: 29 Apr 2021 04:09 AM PDT Hello! I am Moodie, and I am a girl on a mission! I have a long story, but I will save that for my profile. I know I am capable of being someone and becoming something and escaping this studio apartment in this washed out suburbia. I have scrolled endlessly, filling notebooks and scrap paper with notes links sites advice ideas x y z, you name it. It almost baffles me that I am still in the "it's just a dream" phase. I am 28 and I want to start my own business, from the bottom of my heart. I want to give back to the world so badly. I also want to take a big step in life and get myself out of this little place. The process is exactly that. I want(ed) to sell earring, or self care kits for both men and women. I have done sooo much research and have looking into marketing seo dropshipping, and so much more. I guess my question to the internet is if anyone has ANY friendly advice under the sun that I could take as a step (finally) in the right direction? I am BRAND new to reddit, so if there is a thread in regards to this PLEASE! EDUCATE ME! I am so sorry if this isnt posted right. I want to learn so so badly. I know i can do this. Do you think i could do this? [link] [comments] |

Someone is suing my restaurant for ADA violations Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:29 AM PDT Hello. I have a restaurant that has been open for 11 years with no issues regarding ADA violations but recently I received mail from an attorney stating that one of their clients wants to sue us for ADA violations. They are willing to settle privately for 6k and requiring us to fix said violations. They took pictures and measurements of our restaurant (seats, booths, restrooms) without permission. Most of the violations are minor such as a small trashcan blocking the clear space in a restroom. We can fix most of them but they are requiring us to also rebuild 1 of our booths and a section of our bar (this isn't a bar specific to drinking) to be ADA compliant even though we have 7 tables in the restaurant that are compliant. Rebuilding the bar or just a section and totally rebuilding a booth to fit these guidelines will cost us several thousand dollars. Do you guys have any advice or have experienced the same issue? We have sent everything to our attorney and some of our partners say only a Fire Marshall has authority to force us to rebuild and they also say it was illegal for this attorney to come in a measure and take pictures of our restaurant. ( I don't know if this is true). Thanks Edit: I'd like to add that these aren't ordinary booths and were built a while ago by a designer we hired and is the reason it will cost a lot. We also have floor mats since the restaurant tile can get slippery when wet and they requested we remove those as well since they can claim that it makes it a more for difficult for wheelchairs to go pass but we have had many customers in wheelchairs that never complained. Please check it out if you are looking to open a company and leave your feedback, as we might add a few things to make it better. Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments] |
How did you evaluate the demands in your area when creating your business ? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 01:16 AM PDT I currently have several small business ideas but I have to do market research to determine which one I should really invest into. I'm still very young and I'm convinced my knowledge and techniques still need a lot of improvement.I'd love to hear your experiences about this part of the job, I feel like it is the most challenging part of it. Unemployment and firing employee Posted: 29 Apr 2021 12:22 AM PDT I have somebody who's been working for me for roughly 3 months now. He's a temp worker as his industry is still shut down from covid and will likely be leaving in 3-6 months. He also works another seasonal job where he makes 1.5x more than I pay him, but the hours are inconsistent. Of course I have no issue him prioritizing that job with proper notice, but recently he no-call no-showed as he took a shift with the other job, at a time where we really needed him. I'm on the fence about firing him for it, especially because he didn't even seem apologetic. My biggest issue is that I feel like if I don't do it now and want to later, I'll no longer be able to use this event as the reason so he can claim unemployment and my rate goes up. Is that how it works? and if so, how much does my rate go up per claim? [link] [comments] |
Question about a nursery business. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:59 PM PDT My uncle has a small nursery that has several different plants that he would sell to contractors or plant them himself. Recently he asked me to take over once I finish school, he would do all cash transactions and never got any license to sell or anything for his business just word of mouth. What would I need to do to take over his business and run it legitimately? [link] [comments] |
Buying a Business - Books are Off Posted: 28 Apr 2021 11:15 PM PDT I am looking to purchase a small passive cash-operated business, but the (almost non-existent) books are off. I can't decide if the owner is trying to hide income (from the IRS) or expenses (from the realtor and me) or just made some numbers up. He is almost certainly abusing his tax deductions which I have taken to mean all his numbers are suspect. You would 'what the fuck' if you saw some of the things he has listed as business expenses on the taxes. I will be getting additional utility usage history to try to correlate to income tomorrow. And hopefully some actual bank statements. It feels like I'm having to play detective while auditing this guy's business. The business appears to be either a money pit, neutral, or a profit center. Do you have any similar tales to share? How do you pin these people down? [link] [comments] |

Seeking guide to transition from Sole Prop to S-Corp Posted: 28 Apr 2021 10:59 PM PDT There are lots of guides to incorporating, but we've done that. I'm just wondering if there are any good punch-lists/guides online or in print to DIY the transition process from here. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:13 PM PDT I want to get a commercial license for an image I found on the internet so I can use it on a website for my business. I found the image on clearpng and it only has a individual license listed there. I'd like to buy the license but don't know how. Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
what is the right way to run a business? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 01:07 PM PDT In my understanding the right way is to have an effective strategy to keep improving the current situation, and an effective business model to get the job done. Is business about managing (and improving the) strategy, and managing (and improving the) business model? Business is sort of like a well run machine/organization that is ideally always improving? Trying to help my parents business Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:46 PM PDT So my family moved to the US 10 years ago and we have been working our butts off to make something happen. As of right now we have 5 small businesses inside 2 different malls and we basically work everyday to keep things going. I'm a college student so besides working and keeping the stores going I really am not able to help my parents get paper work done such as taxes or whatever they need for the business. They keep complaining about this awful accountant that ignores them and really just rips them off by charging $300 a month for the most basic stuff. I need help finding out where to start. I want to be able to do all the paperwork because my parents barely speak English so I have to take control. Where do I start? [link] [comments] |
Can you buy a storefront house/apartment with a mortgage? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:06 PM PDT Okay so I'm only 17, turning 18 next week.. I'm not really sure how mortgages work. I had an idea start a plant business by selling on etsy to start then when my credit is good enough and I have enough for a down-payment to buy a storefront building: have the business downstairs and live in the top until it's paid off. Eventually, if I ever decided to move I can rent out the top. I was just wondering if mortgages work for buildings other than residential homes. I was also wondering because in my state they give small business grants( I don't really know the details but I know that they give up to 25k to start up) if I could use the 25k for my down-payment. And then since I would be a first time home buyer if I'm able to add on bidens 15k tax credit. I'm not going to college so I literally won't have any debt to worry about and I'm very good with managing money so my credit will hopefully be perfect and it won't be hard for me to get a loan. I already have a car payment that I've never missed so hopefully by the time I get it paid off, that alone is enough for a good score. [link] [comments] |
Questions about marketing moving forward and Facebook ads Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:51 PM PDT I am a business owner and am in the home remodeling/retail space (home improvement store without lumber). We had been growing steadily but for the last 2-3 years and seemed to have plateaued at about $900k-$1m in sales. I think I am very much lacking in the marketing department and that is the reason for the plateau. We have a part time social media manager that is posting for us 6-7 days a week on Facebook. We are not hardly ever boosting our ads. We have about 7500 followers on our FB page, which isn't huge but is better than nothing. We have done a few direct mailing campaigns before without much success, I probably wouldn't try that again. What has worked for you guys to get over a "marketing slump" or a sales plateau ? I am very hesitant to use SEO and PPC services as I had a few colleagues have very bad experiences with the services they used. I am open to any suggestions or tips though. [link] [comments] |
How many business owners have planned their succession? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:47 PM PDT So we did a post in our email newsletter the other day about the importance of small and family business owners to create a succession plan. So we are wondering, how many business owner out there have done that? [link] [comments] |
Any good business lawyer in the Bay Area with free consultation you'd recommend? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:32 PM PDT Hey all. Trying to start a drop shipping business, using Shopify. Any business lawyer that you guys recommend whom offers free consultations? Mostly just trying to properly understand all the regulatory things before starting (permits, etc.) since I'm getting a lot of mixed advice. [link] [comments] |
I'm selling Pepe Matte Pictures 4X6 Posted: 29 Apr 2021 01:32 AM PDT Hello everyone, I'm selling Pepe Matte Pictures to earn money to buy my girlfriend a wool poncho. I'm currently out of work in college. I just want to sell a few as jokes and raise $80 to get my gf a pancho because she got me a traditional shirt from her culture and I want to do the same. Thank you all [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 02:05 PM PDT I started selling things online in January just using my own tax info, and it grew slowly into 15k per month profit and 50k+ per month spent on goods. All of this is under my personal credit card and bank account, social security number, etc etc. This is gonna be a nightmare for my taxes. I'm also 2 years behind on my taxes because I'm a moron that procrastinates everything, but that's another issue entirely. Now I'm halfway through the year almost, my bank account shows like 80k income even though most of that is spent on good/supplies, and I've bought supplies with two different checking accounts + my personal credit card and I feel like this is gonna be an absolute nightmare. To make matters worse, I also made an EIN and somehow have a Federal Tax ID (don't even remember getting that), although I legitimately have no idea if anything is tied to that at all. I guess I can figure that out later. I did have to show proof of that to some wholesale suppliers but I don't think they do anything with it, so maybe i'm fine there. But I have an EIN for no reason basically because I don't have an LLC, or a business account, or anything. I'll probably want to start over with that and try to get off on the right foot, but I don't even know where to start. Anyone willing to point me in the right direction? If anyone does this for a living and knows all about this, I will pay you for your time if you'll help. I'm so stressed :). OH! I'm also moving to another state in a few weeks so I figured that is a good time to start from scratch there. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
