Happy Holiday everyone!!!! Here are my thoughts on the special occasion Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:36 AM PDT I'm so happy for the holiday. It's such a fun time to gather with family and friends and have a great memorable time! You get to find hidden things, remember our lord and savior, and even eat a huge meal!! Wait....huh?? What did you say John?? Easter?what's Easter??? I'm fucking talking about Monday, audits, the IRS, and eating these fucking tax returns. We in the home stretch mother fuckers and I'm growing more erect by the day. All those late filers are finally coming in just in time to make me shutter with excitement. The IRS finally answered my memo about another month of heaven and they extended the whole season!!! Sorry if that upset you. If it does just send me the returns and I'll do them. I've actually already done all the returns in the county but I wait until people ask to send them in. I'm almost done with the 2025 returns now. Let me tell you those tax changes are wild. You can depreciate land. But I've seen a lot of posts of people being worn out so let me give everyone some advice to get you through the rest of this orgasm we call tax season. To all the intern saying it's hard, stop fucking sucking dick at numbers and crunch this shit until you are leaking. All that time you spend bitching you could be filing better than partners. To all the associates, you're on your way to ultimate balance. If you're getting stressed just remember it takes a huge dick to fuck these return all day and night and from what I've seen you have the cock and balls to do it. To the seniors, you already know how huge your dick is. Keep making love to the ledger and fisting that file button until the IRS is screaming To the partners, y'all are stupid do better. You make your staff do all this work that y'all don't even file. I wanna see every partner push out more returns then they have ever done in their life or you can go get the coffee bitch. To all the accountants who don't file, it's okay. Keep up those numbers champ. I love you and want you to stay in balance. Make that money and lick that ledger. We almost done boiz. Party at my place May 18th. I'll bring the calculators if you bring the paperwork. Only thing I'm sad about is it's April already. I'm hungry for more and it's time to eat. Time to file mother fuckers. Get it boiz and gurlz Just a quick edit because of a comment. I know busy season is hard and being an accountant can be hard. Trust me I have my days too. If you are feeling suicidal please reach out for help to the suicide prevention hotline. This is the website https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org their number is 800-273-8255. Don't feel ashamed to do it. I've called before. If you are feeling down and want to talk my office door is always open. You are loved and it's not worth it. We can't file without you [link] [comments]

I have 1 year left of my BS in Accounting and I have no idea what I’m doing Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:50 PM PDT hey guys, been lurking on this sub for a while and I tried to find older posts that would answer my questions but just decided to make my own. I'm a junior in college and I'll be graduating next May 2022 with my BS in Accounting. I am so confused on the different paths you can take career wise (industry/public/government?) and what each entails. I also am pretty confident in the fact that I do not want to take the CPA anytime soon, if ever. I love accounting, but I honestly don't really care about moving up in a company quickly and making $$$. I obviously would like to make a good living, but being a controller or CFO is not my primary career objective, and working 60+ hours per week sounds awful. I eventually just want a stable accounting job with a good work/life balance, if that's possible. From what I've read on here, careers in government accounting seem to interest me the most. Are those feasible for someone without public accounting experience/CPA? what are government accounting jobs like? I'm just feeling confused on where I can go after graduation in this field without a CPA. thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 11:14 AM PDT Hey everyone, hope you're all having a nice holiday weekend. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with a particularly rough period of time (audit big four busy season in my case)? I'm having trouble with some difficult stuff outside of work which has me already feeling low and am on a not very nice team to put it lightly. I'm constantly getting criticized and got an awful performance review and I'm still here working crazy hours and taking on extra work from the people that quit in the past month. My self esteem is at an all time low and I feel like I'm about to have a nervous break. I'm planning on leaving ASAP and have been applying, but have been told basically how many bridges I would burn and how much the team would hate me if I left before filing. Basically, does anyone have any similar stories or insight on how to brace for another month plus of hell when you're at a really low point? And is there a way to not tie self-esteem to this work? I feel like a failure every day here and starting to think I'm just an idiot :( [link] [comments]

Current PwC Senior with Job Offer from RSM - Stay or Go (deadline tomorrow)? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:20 AM PDT Hi all, I'm a first year senior at PwC with a current base of $105k (JD non-LLM, speciality group). I recently got a job offer from RSM to come in as a supervisor (similar to senior) at $135k base with a $10k signing bonus. I informed PwC of the offer, who came back with the following offer: $125k base, $10k retention bonus, and still receive year end bonus (estimated at 5-8% of the $125k base). I feel as if this offer is low, but at the same time I know I'll have much better progression and exit opportunities at PwC if I stay another 2-3 years. What would you recommend in this situation? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 11:23 AM PDT Just a bunch of people whining about the IRS as if it's their fault a fucking pandemic occurred and they haven't gotten their extra thousand bucks yet. Should be called r/crybabies. FTR, I do not work for the IRS lol. I was just surprised to see an entire sub dedicated to complaining about them. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 10:49 AM PDT I got a Big4 tax offer in Seattle, and some Nationals (think GT, BDO, etc something like that). I liked the people at the national firm more than the Big4, but people are telling me I'm stupid if I turn down the B4 offer because I'm losing out on so many exit opps. People are telling me my career wouldn't be nearly as strong w/out B4, but honestly they are probably full of shit with that (not sure). All these people telling me this shit aren't even near the accounting world, so they probably don't know what they're talking about. Probably just parroting shit they've heard elsewhere, but not entirely certain to be honest. So what do? EDIT: I should clarify that these offers are for an internship. I'm in my Junior year atm. Worried about the CPA and looking for advice from those who have been there done that? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 08:19 PM PDT As brief as I can be, a little about me. I graduated in 2019, accepted a summer 2020 internship with a B4 and then accepted a FT offer with the same B4 that'll start this fall. I've had MONTHS of opportunities to study for the CPA. But in 2020 I fell ill and I now live life with a chronic illness. I'm in bed most of the day, in pain, severe weight loss, my mom lovingly does so many things for me that I can't do right now. On a positive note I just started biologic infusions that hopefully if they work as they should I will be somewhat normal again and ready to work by the time my FT position starts. Back to the CPA part: I haven't studied. I tried at the beginning of the year but couldn't. Part of me feels so guilty for not taking advantage of all this time I've had but another part of me knows I wouldn't have been able to. I've been hospitalized twice at the worst of my condition and half the time I don't have the headspace for anything. At this point I'm wondering, should I go ahead and try to study even without the intention of testing this year. Do I even want my CPA? Do I want to stay in accounting? I have so many thoughts that it feels like I don't know what I want and it's all so overwhelming. I guess my biggest questions are how valuable is the CPA? How many accountants are CPAs? Is it rare to not have one, would I be the odd one out? Is there better pay and opportunities outside of accounting? And on average how long does it take to study for the CPA? I'm afraid of being the one to constantly retake parts and not getting anywhere. Sorry for all the word vomit I'm just hoping someone can understand me even a little and share advice. Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 10:00 PM PDT Hey guys I was just wondering what the journal entries would be to account for revaluing bitcoin. For example, if someone had purchased some equipment from me with bitcoin what entry would i have to do in the year after to revalue it. Thank you [link] [comments]

New B4 Audit Senior who is struggling right now. Posted: 04 Apr 2021 04:58 PM PDT First off, I'm aware that YMMV depending on the office location and practice group. I am currently an S1 in Audit and needless to say, this first busy season as a senior has totally kicked my ass left and right. I drew the short straw and got put with a very demanding manager who literally has no life outside of work and made my life a living hell, paired with supervising staff/interns and answering all of their questions. To top it all off, this client was a first-year audit with no PY WP's, which of course meant that it was a lot harder for the new staff/interns and resulted in a shit ton of questions. I always end up having to work later in the night to work on my assigned sections due to me having to assist my staff/interns a lot during the day. Meanwhile, some of the other S1's I know got very lucky and worked with more chill managers and easier clients. At the end of the day, I am completely wiped out of any energy that I had earlier and always find myself dreading the next work day. I now see why lots of people leave PA at senior. Does it get less stressful with time? Are there any tips/tricks for new seniors that anyone can recommend in order to help make it easier on me? TIA! [link] [comments]
How often should I post unrealized gain/loss for nonprofits? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 02:44 PM PDT How often should I post unrealized gain/loss for nonprofits? Is annually acceptable? I do some monthly because it makes it easier to tie to the brokerage statement. What is your opinion? [link] [comments]
Public Accountants: How do you do it? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 06:07 PM PDT I'm currently an undergrad and I just can't seem to understand how some of you are able to work the long hours that you do and remain sane. The time I spend between school, work, and my internship burns me out, but when I figure the hours I'm spending on these things it's still not close to what some of you guys in B4 spend at work during busy season. How do you have any time at all to enjoy the things you love or have a family for that matter? I tell myself I won't be caught dead at a mid to large sized public accounting firm because I value my work-life balance too much as I feel I'm on this earth to live, not work. Is it the money/potential opportunities? I feel like taking a lower paying industry or government job working 40-50 hours a week all year is better than working 60-80 during busy season and wanting to kill yourself. [link] [comments]

PwC Intern Pay to first Year Associate pay Posted: 04 Apr 2021 12:06 PM PDT Is the intern pay at PwC and Big4 overall just converted to salary for first year associates? Is there a small increase in the pay at all, or is it a clean conversion? Thanks [link] [comments] |
