Can anyone provide tips on how to deal with professional conflict that, unfortunately thanks to mental health issues and ineptitude at being assertive, affect you on a personal level?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 11:32 PM PST

I know that I have to be professional and my response can't sound emotional or personal, but I have no clue how to be assertive and get my point across without crossing that line and, in turn, looking foolish.

Long story short, my company has been handling a project that has been incredibly challenging and messy, not because of a lack of skill on my part, but for a number of other reasons. Well the client has been simultaneously working with another 3rd party who has been tasked with providing a certain level of oversight, yet they've crossed into micro-managing us to the point of making condescending comments to me concerning my work, my company's methods, and my competence (based on unfair assumptions, not facts) on a Zoom call with the client.

I remind myself in situations like this that regardless of their approach and their total lack of mutual respect for us, another company in the industry, the matter was likely not a personal attack but them calling themselves doing their job. But the misunderstandings, assumptions, lack of communication, and throwing me and my company under the bus in front of the client on an already stressful project has absolutely affected me. Especially when cognitive issues prevent me from knowing how to assert myself and explain my side effectively in situations where I'm being put on the spot like on that Zoom call.

Now that we're wrapping up the project, I'm certain that I'm going to be asked if we've reviewed their checklist for guidance on completing the project. How do I say PROFESSIONALLY and without emotion "Ef your checklist. We're a professional company just like yours and we never needed your help in this area. You just chose to give unwanted opinions, rude remarks, and a premature review based on assumptions you made about our work rather than waiting until we were finished to do your review. It has not been a pleasure working with you"?

My company's reputation is on the line so it kind of DOES matter that they know that our company is competent and did not need their help. But admittedly, more of it is my need to assert myself since I failed at it in real-time when it mattered. By the way, the client expressed on a separate call with just me and the client that they respect our company and never saw us as incompetent, but still...

Can you turn ‘buying houses and renting them out’ into a business?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 01:57 AM PST

I'm just a teenager, but I consider myself ambitious with high aspirations. I've always been interested in real estate - it's the way of the future. Blah Blah blah a cliche story

So can you buy houses, rent them out, and collect the money - be turned into a business? Can it become profitable? I get that I would take quite a long time to buy the houses, but once you do it on a larger enough scale, can you turn it into a business?

What is the importance of bosses, such as managers, to the workers under them? Is the boss-worker hierarchy truly necessary?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 06:25 PM PST

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, but here it is. I have already asked in r/askeconomics and r/economics

I have encountered those who view bosses as people who take wealth from workers by unfairly getting a larger share of the economic pie yet doing little to no labor to earn said wealth. I have been doing a bit of research on the importance of bosses - such as managers - to the workers under them and, from my understanding,

    1) They are not laborers, that's not their function. They serve different, very useful, roles than that of those who work under them; and

    2) These roles are creating a plan to meet company goals and objectives, organising to help ensure a company or departmental unit runs smoothly, leading their workers to ensure they meet daily tasks, and to ensure the aforementioned roles are working towards the success of the company.

Is this all, or is there more that they do? Am I missing something? Is their higher pay deserved/needed (such as incentivization for the position)?

If you could recommend academic (or equivalent) sources to read too that would be very much appreciated.

How do I register this 100% Remote company?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 04:05 PM PST

Ok so I got a weird business going. All my clients are located all over the world and so are the employees. I currently do all my payments/invoicing through Paypal (and eager to switch). I'm not an American citizen and I dont have a visa (hell, i don't even have an id). I currently make $18k/month but I suspect it will grow because people like making me work.

How/where do I register my business? Also, do I need to register my business? I only need email and whatsapp to keep it going so Im not eager to pay 30%. Should I consider buying citizenship in a British territory?

    Thanks in adv.

I started An business via Instagram but I need help with a name change!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:14 PM PST

So the things I sell are all made out of used skateboards, I've made tables, a stool , insense holders, bookrings,....

I basicly make what I like and think is possible so it's hard to find a direction for the name.

For now it's 'focus woodworks'. To focus a board means to break it in skateboard terminolgy but I think it's to niche.

    Anyone got a suggestion,

I'll link the page in the comments so you can get the vibe
