Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:43 PM PDT How do you prevent yourself from becoming burned out. I've been doing P&C, some life insurance, for a year and a half and I'm just about to call it quits. I just hate it, I haven't always felt like this. [link] [comments] |
"don't spend deductible" - does this make sense? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 07:54 PM PDT I'm using an affordable medical insurance plan. (in California) Today I took an x-ray. After checking my plan an employee recommended me I'd better go for out-of-pocket rather than using my medical insurance. At that time I was tired and in a daze so just did as he said. I paid $50 out-of-pocket for one chest x-ray. But when I thought about it again after I got home, I felt it strange. As far as I know, filling up deductible means that I'm reaching the stage for my insurance plan to enroll in my medical payment (whatever my insurance plan is). Then what would be the reason that I had better pay with my out-of-pocket? Am I just ripped-off? [link] [comments] |
Am I required to sign a blank page for an auto claim Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:15 AM PDT My car has been totaled in an accident that was entirely the other driver's fault and their insurance has accepted responsibility. They are declaring my car a total loss and in order to release the payment to me, they are insisting that I must sign a "Statement of Facts" that is completely blank. That is, they insist I sign the blank form and they will fill in the accident details later. I am acutely uncomfortable signing a blank page. I am especially uncomfortable signing a page that claims "I certify under penalty of perjury of <State where I live> that the above is true and correct" Is this really a normal insurance claim processing procedure, which they keep insisting that it is? What happens if I refuse to sign this blank page? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 12:28 PM PDT I recently had some blood panels and a urine sample done and all showed irregular results. One of the next steps my doctor wants to do is a CT scan of my pelvic and abdomen area but insurance rejected coverage saying there wasn't enough proof that it was needed. What are the next steps and I don't understand how this could even happen? I'm in the US and this healthcare system is ridiculous. [link] [comments] |
What are my options when trying to move up at an insurance company? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 06:38 PM PDT I used to work for an agent in sales, and last year I got hired at corporate as a total loss claims associate. Now that I've been here a year and have some experience, I'm thinking about my next move, but not sure what my options are. I considered estimatics, but I read that it helps to have a background in mechanical work (I do not). I do NOT want to be a total loss specialist, because they deal with more complicated scenarios (divorces, child support liens, etc) and that sounds exhausting. Injury sounds miserable, underwriting sounds promising, but i think you have to be an underwriting assistant first. Any input from folks who have experience in other departments of insurance would be much appreciated. Also if it helps: I have an associates in Business Admin, and I was in insurance sales for 1.5 years before this position. Would it help to get at least 1 more year under my belt before going elsewhere? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Medical billing question regarding correct cpt code used for my visit. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:11 PM PDT I have a dr that has been billing my telehealth appts using cpt code 99214. My understanding is the length of time indicated for 99214 is greater than 25 min. Our phone calls have been less than 5 min (I have phone records to support this) and I feel 99211 would be a better code option. I feel the office is using 99214 because it's a higher reimbursement for them and that kind of pisses me off. However I wonder if I'm missing something? Thought I would ask the professional that do medical billing for a living. Am I'm accurate in my thinking about 99211 being more appropriate? It would include the modifiers to indicate telehealth (or is 99211 strictly face to face?). Edit: in AZ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:23 PM PDT So, I was in an accident in August 2020 at 9pm. I'm 24 and was in my corvette. She was in a Dodge Avenger. I was driving on the highway doing the speed limit out in the country, fields high. I had right of way, nothing but open road. By time I got up to intersection, there was a car that blew their stop sign going easily 50 or so. And you know what happens from there. I tried to avoid the accident or collision at all cost. But ultimately from my vehicle being so low and other driver being in a regular sedan. From slamming my brakes and trying to avoid it I under rode her and she rolled. She accepted and admitted to the deputy what occurred. She got cited not me. That next day I hired an personal injury attorney due to the nature of what occurred. I went to ER after. She got arrested due to an outstanding warrant. Well I filed a claim with my insurance due to her insurance dragging their feet and saying I'm 20% liable due to "speeding" and "physics" proves it? Lol... well all in all. I got my first 80% $400 of my deductible back in December. Then the other $100 in January. So since I got it fully reimbursed that means her insurance accepted liability in arbitration correct? If so, why is it match and my attorneys telling me her insurance adjusters are still saying I'm 20% liable? My attorneys said the adjusters are getting nasty over it all. How can that be if I got fully reimbursed as stated? My insurance wouldn't reimburse me 100% over time if I was deemed in arbitration part liable I thought? Advice?? I had a passenger too that could be used as witness that would state I wasn't speeding too.... I also yesterday gave my attorneys copies of both letters from My insurance getting the first 400, then a month or so later getting the remaining 100 of my deductible. This is in Ohio. I feel like her insurance is trying this crap due the car I had (she totaled out) and due to my age. [link] [comments] |
Friends apartment burned down while he was deployed, how can I help? Posted: 31 Mar 2021 01:07 AM PDT Currently deployed with friend "T", T got notification his apartment burned down and it's a "total loss." It obviously isn't his fault and he had the complex's standard renters insurance. Just wondering what that "standard" insurance probably covers from you guys' experience and what he can expect to get back. I'm thinking of setting up a gofundme for him because he did not deserve this and is probably the kindest human I know and this deployment has been hard and now he has to go home to chaos and nothing. Edit: The bot yelled at me, he lives in a 2bed apartment in downtown Oklahoma City. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 05:08 PM PDT I work in wildlife conservation and am being hired as a contract worker by state government to do surveys on wildlife in Wisconsin for 3 months. Because I'm being hired as a contractor they are requiring me to carry general liability insurance, commercial auto insurance, and workers compensation. Specifically this is what they are asking for: "a) Maintain worker's compensation insurance for all employees engaged in the work. b) Maintain commercial liability and property damage insurance against any claim(s) which might occur in carrying out this agreement/contract. Minimum coverage shall be one million ($1,000,000) liability for bodily injury and property damage including products liability and completed operations. Provide motor vehicle insurance for all owned, non-owned, and hired vehicles that are used in carrying out the contract. Minimum coverage shall be one million ($1,000,000) per occurrence combined single limit for automobile liability and property damage." I've never done any type of contract work before, so I feel pretty lost when it comes to insurance. I didn't think it would be difficult to find insurance, but I've talked to several agents and they either can't insure me or ghost me. Does anyone know of any specific insurance companies that can help me out or that cover my line of work? [link] [comments] |

There should be a form of insurance for exercise Posted: 30 Mar 2021 10:18 PM PDT I'm in California. So basically I think if someone has mental illness they should get disability insurance, in order to keep them well and healthy. And it could include exercise for the mentally ill. The gym membership the person goes to could be covered. I think that I would have an easier time treating my psychosis if the boxing I do was insured. Just a thought. [link] [comments] |
Got into a car accident as a passenger and now I have to pay for it?? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:26 AM PDT I will be very explicit with the states involved. I was in a car insured by Geico and registered to New York. We hit another car on a highway in Connecticut. Fault has now been attributed to the driver from New York. I am from New Jersey and have New Jersey car insurance, and for some reason, the accident was filed under personal injury as opposed to medical, which are two different funds. Apparent this is a state thing. Liberty Mutual, my car insurance, says that I need to pay a deductible and a co-payment of the expenses (ambulance and hospital). My medical insurance just won't cover any of it essentially. I called Geico, telling them their client was at fault, and their response was that they can't pay any of the expenses or even my copay and deductible because the car is insured in NY and I'm NOT from NY. How does any of this make any sense?? Can someone tell me what recourse I have from here? [link] [comments] |

California Car Insurance Question Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:07 PM PDT Hi everyone. I was recently involved in a car accident last week. It was a hit and run, but the cops were able to give me the cars insurance + make and model of the car. Do you guys know if their insurance can give me their name and vice versa? Can my insurance/their insurance give them my name? We are in California. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:12 PM PDT I'm 20 years old, and I'm about to purchase my first car. Second-hand, of course, and nothing amazing, but my understanding is that insurance is a necessity for driving, both legally and morally. I've never had car insurance, as I've never had a car, and, in consequence, know nothing about it. Once I've actually purchased the car, my financial situation will be... well, I wouldn't go so far as to say "precarious", but it definitely won't be in a state wherein I can afford to waste money. As a result, I need to know what the cheapest possible insurance plan would be just to be able to legally put the car on the road, at least until I can afford something better. Anybody have any advice on the matter? Edit: Location I live in Nevada, but I'm moving to Rhode Island in June. [link] [comments] |
My part-time job has better insurance than my (new) full-time job. Can I enroll in both? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 07:46 PM PDT I currently have a part-time job that has pretty good insurance. I just got a new salaried position that pays a lot better, but the insurance is significantly worse. I plan on keeping both jobs for a few months until I burn out, then will probably quit the part-time job. When I do quit that job, does that count as a QLE to allow me to enroll w/the insurance @ my new job? Or should I get insurance w/the new job as well and just have two policies for a while? Am I allowed to do that? EDIT: I am in California. [link] [comments] |
Is it hard getting a job as an Insurance CSR? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:14 AM PDT I'm a 21 year old with a BSBA in Accounting from an online school who aspires to be an actuary (two passed exams). There is just one problem - I don't have any experience to my name. No internships, no jobs during high school/college, nada. There doesn't appear to be any job I have a chance of getting that gets me any closer to my career ambitions. Except maybe that of a CSR. I have a question, If I get a CSR license, would I have a significant chance of finding a job somewhere? It is to my understanding that there's always an employer hungry for people due to the job both being important to the industry and the somewhat shitty pay and nature of the job. The problem is I'm monolingual (and have no experience), but I am willing to move virtually anywhere in the US if needed. It seems like the best chance of getting my foot through the door of Insurance and eventually using it to find an actuarial position, maybe even via an internal transfer. I really want to get my life in order and I'm starting to feel like a failure-to-launch. Is getting a CSR license and seeking a CSR position a good plan for me? [link] [comments] |
When to transfer teen driver off family auto policy? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 06:53 PM PDT Hello, I'm trying to work through when the right time will be to transfer my teen drive off of my family policy and have her get her own policy. She's about to turn 18 now. I purchased an inexpensive used car and she has been driving that since she turned 16. She'll graduate from Highschool this May. I intend to gift her the car as she moves on to college and into adulthood. When is the right time to formally transfer ownership of the car and have her get her own policy? What are the factors that I should consider for protecting her, my spouse and myself? We live in Arizona. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 06:41 PM PDT Located in Missouri. Okay I'll start by saying I should have seen the red flags but I was desperate... I broke a tooth in November- and waited until February to make my appointment (I don't hate the dentist- just lack making my health a priority) I called a dentist that my insurance "recommended" aka we're on the list of approved providers. they told me they would do a crown for $750. I said great - if my insurance paid their portion it's only be like $400. They reschedule my appointment 3 times due to weather or whatever. In the midst of the broken tooth - another one cracked but by the time of my actual appointment that one broke as well. Great - $1500 it's cool - my max benefit is $1000 (I know not great) they do X-rays and say that they need preapproval for the crowns and I make another appointment for the following week. I get my preapproval estimate for tooth 14 & 31. I told them my insurance has approved those and my out of pocket should be like $600. They tell me I need to pay the $1500 and my insurance will give me the refund. I knew this felt odd - but by now I actually have legit pain and just need to get something done. Dentist gets in there and tooth 14 actually needs a root canal and they don't do that there but he's willing to do a pulpotomy (or whatever) on tooth 14 as a temporary fix because he can see the root and I needed to see a dentist for the actual root canal and crown. They come back and stated since I already paid for two crowns they should just do tooth 30 and 31 (I didn't know 30 needed a crown) I told them I need the preapproval but they insisted that tooth 30 would get approved if 31 & 14 did because it needed it. in hindsight I should have said no I ask for a receipt to show I paid $1500 for two crowns - they give me this invoice that said the bill is well over $3000. I'm like how is two crowns $1500 but now I have this "invoice" saying I still owe you like $1500?!? Well insurance has denied tooth 30 because X-rays aren't good enough-but they have already done it so I can't get them before photos to show that it needed it, which means it will still be denied. I call insurance explain the situation. They ask if I want to file a grievance- I said I just want some of my money back. They said they will file it and my case manager will call the dentist and then call me in like 3-5 days. I wait a week and call back they tell me it is pending and I should hear from someone the following Monday. I get a letter in the mail that states they denied tooth 30 because it was done without preauthorization and I needed to submit the following information to them (kicker is - no information was listed in the letter) I called my "case manager" and left 3 voicemails-she's never called back so I call the main number today and ask for someone so I can tell my side of the story. They said they don't do that (even though two separate people said they would call me) and basically said all I can do is write an appeal to tell my side of the story. The dentist told me today that they are going to give me $200 because that is how much insurance has given them and they aren't even in network but knew I was desperate and were doing me a favor. She said I could pick up the check next week and at that time they need to take X-rays of tooth 30 (I don't see why because a new x-ray will not show why I needed the crown. (Wouldn't they need to tell me they are out of network before doing any work?) I also had to pay another dentist almost $900 to finish the root canal and crown on tooth 14. Since my insurance approved the other dentist to do 14 - they needed me to pay in full but will refund me if my insurance gives anything back (I have no idea is this is real - but since I'm money bags regarding this teeth situation, what the hell. I'm out $2,400 and I'm getting $200 back. My max is $1,000 - what do I have to do to get my $1,000?! I know this is a lot, I don't even know what my full question is - how to I write an appeal? What do I include in my appeal? Am I screwed? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Mar 2021 12:12 PM PDT I was with a captive company for the past 10 years and got burned out with them. It felt like in the beginning everything was great but as time went on underwriting, claims and other agents all seemed to be working against me. So I'm thinking of trying giving it another go but I was wondering what you has worked better for you? I just don't want to start another uphill battle so soon. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Looking for Desk Adjuster trainee positions and a step in the right direction... Posted: 30 Mar 2021 06:02 PM PDT I've just recently passed my All-lines course and completed the exam, waiting to get finger printed and such. As a newbie, how did you guys get your foot in the door? How'd you learn how to repair auto/home property damage or did you already know? I've applied to progressive for auto claims but definitely want to make sure I find the best steps.. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 05:46 PM PDT I recently bought a used Saturn and I am trying to go about getting the cheapest insurance policy. I am classified as a high risk driver, but I was wondering if there's any way my mother can put insurance on the car and I can be a co driver? She does not have her license but should be able to put auto insurance on her car still am I right or wrong ??. ( I would be her chauffeur basically) would this work in Canada ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 05:44 PM PDT I'm a contract administrator for a small agency in California. I've been working on a master service agreement with an Indian based software developer (with offices in CA) for software applications. Our insurance requirements require that our vendors be insured with insurers admitted in California. We also require vendors to disclose their deductibles (the agency is concerned our vendors might not be able to afford their deductibles). The developer is unable to accept that provision because they have policies with an Indian carrier. They also would not agree to disclose their deductibles as they consider that information confidential. I agree that most companies consider that confidential; I've worked at other agencies before and have never seen that requirement before so I think it's unusual we ask for it. My higher ups are also concerned with the fact their policies are with an Indian insurance company; they are concerned it may not cover incidents in CA. How can a software company operate internationally with such concerns, though? Is my agency overthinking and overreacting or should I be concerned with the fact they have an Indian insurance policy (HDFC ERGO General) and will not disclose their deductibles? [link] [comments] |
