Tell me your CINTAS horror story

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:19 PM PST

I recently found out that cintas has been stealing from my restaurants in the way of overcharging invoices for years, they're denying any wrongdoing and arguing that they did deliver impossible amounts of products..

I asked around the chamber and apparently that's what they do.. anyone has any tales?

    Understanding Feedback

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 04:00 AM PST

A question for anyone who provides a physical service/sells physical products. How do you gain customer feedback?

I realise a tech based product allows you to pull data/metrics in real time about how consumers are interacting with your product.

In the physical world, other-than speaking to customers who have interacted with your product (maybe getting the odd one to leave a review). How do you go about putting any of this data to good use?

    Merging F B pages

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 02:01 AM PST

Hi! I have a number of meme pages with plenty of likes.

I am about to launch my e-commerce business and I'm thinking to merge 1 lowkey page, which has a good number of likes, with my e-commerce page.

What are the pros and cons of doing this? Can I just clean one page then rename it?

Any advice will be much highly appreciated. Thank you!

    How to find my feet..

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:33 PM PST

Hi people of Reddit, I have a little sob story and I guess I am looking for some advice or a kick up the arse. Either way, here I am. For ten years I worked for other people and hated every minute, in my early 30s I finally managed to start my own cafe and was having a blast. Then COVID hit me HARD. I had no choice but to jump ship, it was just me cooking, finance, customers, social media and what not so it took over my life but I lived for it and was so thankful I finally found the 'thing' I was good at and could make it work. In the end, I made the decision to leave the country and head to my parents to get back on my feet. But I'm just not. It's been 4 months and I've got an admin job to keep me going but I'm constantly in tears and freaking out. I can't believe that after the progress I made in getting the life I wanted that it's all just gone. Logically I know that I should shut up, save up, and start over in a couple of years but I feel far from home, my friends, my life and it is all just overwhelming. I struggle to keep it together on a daily basis and just feel like I'm grieving for what I had...I don't know if I can do this for 2 whole years. It sounds dramatic but I suppose I am a bit shaken and a whole load of other emotions. So I guess what I'm asking for is, how did you overcome this if something similar happened to you? Did it get easier? And any advice in general.

    a Clubhouse for remote teams

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 07:24 PM PST

I am building Tappy: a Clubhouse for remote teams. When people need to talk, our drop-in audio lets them spark a conversation with a single click.

Surprisingly, National Bureau of Economic Research data months into the pandemic shows that teams tried to bridge the distance by sending more emails—but that didn't last.

Instead, there's a now desire to talk more frequently for less time:

Teams are meeting 13% more often, for 20% less time.

That's a step in the direction of the more fluid conversation, but we're not there yet: the average meeting is still 48 minutes long.

We've been inspired by the growth of remote work, but at the same time, we've also seen teams struggling with lack of communication, delays in productivity, and isolation. We think that real-time connection without friction can help solve that problem.

Zoom fatigue is real. Video calls make everyone feel the way people on TV feel every slouchy, every mumble, every interruption is magnified. Drop-in audio talk lets remote teams spark a conversation with a single click.

I am thinking of running a small business but I'm looking feedback and advice

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:07 PM PST

So about a week ago I've posted on another sub Reddit. Asking for feedback and ideas about my two choices of a small business.

I've thought about running a gym in either CrossFit or just general weight training in Yellowknife NWT.

I also thought of being a motivational speaker. I don't know if that's running a small business but it's something I thought of doing. I've posted on FB about some topics "Pursuing what you Dream of" and "How Alcohol is affecting our Nation". You can message me on here to get the full speech I've wrote if you wish.

Background: I served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 3yrs. I'm a young Indigenous man in his early 20's. Have no experience in this type of business, but I'm willing to learn in either though entrepreneurs or an institution.

Can employees voluntarily work 6 days (with no overtime pay) in California?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:00 PM PST

There is a rule in California where overtime must be paid for any hours worked over 40 hours a week or over 8 hours a day.

What if I have employees that want to work a 6th day (more than 40 hours) for regular wages?

Would it be a violation of labor laws to pay them regular wages?

    Thanks

    Earring materials

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 04:37 PM PST

Hi! I currently sell earrings that I make with shrink dinks, as well as selling the earrings with store bought charms! I wanted to add another type to my store, but I'm not sure what and I would love some suggestions! I DO NOT want to do clay because of the difficulty with shipping, due to the items being fragile. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

art print pricing & ads questions! thank you!

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 04:16 PM PST

Hi guys! I've done some research on art pricing, but I wanted to run my pricing by you guys! I tried to not lowball my art too much. I've sold one print, but on reddit, not this new store I made.

    https://store.allisonkufta.com

Also, when doing ads, do you think I should do an Insta ad campaign to send people to the IG page or my print store instead?

    Thank you!

    Tangible Personal Property Assesment?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:44 PM PST

Going through my first year of having a business just as a sole proprietor, trying to learn taxes for it. I received a letter stating I needed to fill out a depreciation schedule for my tangible personal property. I do have depreciation schedules set up, but this is of my merchandise that I sell as all I really have for personal property is an $80 desktop. Is this referring instead to tools used by the company ex. vehicles, computers and so on? Or would I need to include my merchandise as well?

UPDATE: Do not report growing crops, direct products of the soil in the hands of the producer or their immediate vendee, finished goods in the hands of the manufacturer, or inventories of merchandise held for sale or exchange, or goods in process.

-found this for those also wondering the same thing, I'm in Tennessee by the way-

What field service management software do you use? (Irrigation)

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:48 PM PST

I recently took partnership in an irrigation business, and my current goal is waste elimination and improving overall efficiency. I'd also like to add that we started a residential construction business, and we will want to be able to utilize a single software (as much as possible) for both companies.

There are tons of different CMS/Field Service softwares, and I'm curious to know if anyone here is in the irrigation industry that can share their feedback. I've read about Jobber, Service Titan, Salesforce, Managemart, and a couple of free programs. What are you guys using?

Even if you're in another field service industry (at any level), I'd love to know what you use and why you like it.

California Relief Grant - Tax returns for business or personal?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:15 PM PST

It says they want 2018 or 2019 tax returns for the business. I assume that means Schedule C if your a sole proprietor and not the full 1040 return?

Competitor moved in with similar name and very close proximity

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 12:00 PM PST

I own a small business in a trade industry. It's the kind of thing where there's one in every town. But only one. A man came into my business about 8 months ago and told me (woman) he was opening up around the corner and stated if I want to keep my own clients, I could come work for him and still make some money. Or I could give him one of my employees. I have an established business with a huge client list so this was a real insult. Obviously I declined. Well he opened up, around the corner- his name has the same key word in it that mine does and he's chosen the same color scheme. All his social media posts look almost identical to mine and whenever I do a fundraiser or anything, he tends to do the same thing but "extra." This has already created confusion among potential clients as I've had some come into my business looking for him. I'm sure potential clients of mine have been confused into going to his business... Like I said, with the similar posts on social media shared to the same groups I do.... it's easy to have a memory of seeing great work repeatedly and then click on his newest post and assume it all came from there.... I've consulted an attorney and he thinks we should begin with a request for a name change, at very least. It's not going to go smoothly as this guy put a LOT of money into his Logo, signage and advertising campaigns. I'm just worried if I do this, it's going to start a "war." This small business supports my family, we send our kids to school in this town. This is our livelihood. For him... I don't know. From what I can surmise, he's "kept" by a "sugar daddy" it seems and his access to funds as well as friends seems to be limitless. I am so angry inside, I feel like I'm being bullied by this guy. Which I am. Should I follow through with an attorney or just let karma unfold over time?

[QUESTION] Selling Digital Products on my Shopify Store - Do I need California Seller's Permit?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:47 PM PST

I live in California. I am starting my new business on Shopify where I will be selling digital products. Customers will purchase the digital products on my website and I have an app that will email them the download.

My question is, do I need to apply for a California Seller's Permit? I have read mixed things about the requirements. The www.cdtfa.ca.gov website states that you need a Seller's Permit only if you are selling "tangible" items, but on the other hand it also sounds like a Seller's Permit is required if you want to charge your customers sales tax(which I do). Anybody that sells Digital Products have any advice on this? Thanks

Chase PPP ETRAN stopping me from 2nd loan.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:31 PM PST

I applied for new PPP loan, my second. Got back ETRAN error 400, that it cannot verify my first loan. That's because I don't have my ETRAN number. Chase says they don't give it out..and it's not the number on my statement or on my loan docs. Any idea how I can get it so I can receive this loan?

    Help please!

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 01:16 PM PST

im a crochet artist who hired two people to help me fulfill my orders. One of the workers sent in her share of the orders and they are not at all what they are supposed to be. Stitches are loose and 2x bigger. I suspect they used a larger hook (even though i provided the exact size hook use) I sent them a video tutorial & several pics explaining the process. It seems rushed and just ridiculous size for a hat even compared to the hats she makes herself. I paid $370 including payment plus tip, materials provided & shipping....& i have to redo them all again? I can't put my name on this work. My customers are expecting shipment by tmm. Any advice would help.
