    Rant-job salary

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 11:44 AM PST

Why is it that most insurance companies (usually agencies) want someone to take on the role of an Account Manager, increase their book of business by almost double, yet, are only willing to give a max salary of $65k?? I'm seeing this way too often where they want you to take on a book of business with a $2-4mil revenue size, but only pay you a small salary like that. Companies are constantly complaining how they want the younger generation to fill in the spots of the seniors, but aren't willing to train or pay them what they're worth. And then when we ask them about it, we're seen as "troublesome" or laughed at that we're even thinking of an "absurd" wage. This is why good employees leave the insurance world and the younger ones don't want to come in

Full Release Of All Claims. Should I Sign? Help

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 08:06 PM PST

My parents have recently got $20,000 in total stolen from their bank accounts. A company employee has been making micro transactions throughout the last year without my parents knowledge and the company knowledge.

The employee charged my parents account under the company name and pocketed the money. We've took notice and caught him and have been working with the police.

Apparently my parents weren't the only victims that it happen too. One other victim lost 10k. There could be more victims.

Just recently the company has sent us a Full release claim and only giving $12,000 in restitution.

I'm not sure if this release claim is low balling my parents and wondering if there is anything I/They can do about it.

My parents want to sign and just get it all done with, but I just want the best possible outcome for my parents.

The boss of the company is very uncommunicative and tired of speaking with me and my parents. Giving us the cold shoulder when its his employees who did it all!

Lying on Insurance Quote to lower premium - they seem minor, is it tho?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 12:27 AM PST

38 male here, It's been a decade since I have driven and now it is time to once again purchase a car, thus get an insurance once more.... le sigh

anyways, I tinkered around with the quotes and the things I am looking at lying are the following:

    • Married - I am not. did lower my quote tho.

    • Claiming I've had insurance for a competitor for 5 years - Reality, I haven't owned a car for 10 years. THIS WAS A DRASTIC DROP from $111 to $71/mo quote.

Interesting note: DL active / suspended / expired did not change my quote.

Student vs non-student did not change my quote

so is lying about having previous insurance and no lapse, as well as, purchasing new insurance 21 days before my fake non exsistance insurance (I got a discount for purchasing insurance ahead of time $50 off....) a okay thing to do?

I can understand and see the issue if someone lied about not being involved in an accident

but having a premium insurance quote me from $111/mo ($1332) vs 71/mo ($852) is a big difference of $480

    Should I make a collision claim ?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:18 PM PST

Hit a parking curb when parking my car. Was completely my fault as other cars around me were stationary and within their spot and the parking curb was obviously stationary.

    Estimated cost of repair - $2600 Deductible - $1k Current insurance premium - $150/mo State - WA

This is my first car which I've had for only a few months and is my first accident too. Should I claim insurance or pay out of pocket ? How much will my monthly premium go up if I report to insurance ?

    Any inputs will be appreciated

    claims adjuster trainee.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 02:21 AM PST

Hey folks, I am considering switching from retail management to being a claims adjuster, I have read many threads and many crazy stories. I already work a ton of hours so that shouldn't change much, I am a car guy at heart and have done tons of repairs from brakes to swapping a transmission. With that being said the trainee positions that start at 59k, does the salary increase by a decent amount after being a trainee? What is expected? I have an offer letter btw and I am in NJ if that changes anything.

HOA has an all-in policy - do I still need extra condo insurance?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 01:32 AM PST

Sorry, I'm quite new to all this. Upon my request, my HOA sent me a copy of our insurance policy and apparently it's an all-in policy. The certificate states that it includes finished interiors, including improvements, special form coverage, 100% replacement cost, and building ordinance or law coverage. Does this mean that I don't need additional condo insurance?

I was paying for additional condo insurance through my escrow for my first year but then recently refinanced and now the homeowner's insurance is no longer being paid through escrow. My broker said that my policy is all-in so additional insurance isn't required so I just canceled my policy with AAA. My condo insurance with AAA had Additional Limit - Building Property, Building Property - Special Coverage, and Loss Assessment Coverage. I don't know what the heck this all means... I was getting combined discount with my auto. I don't want my lender force-placing insurance on me for having insufficient coverage.

    I live in California.

My partner missed the deadline to sign up for insurance with work.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 01:32 AM PST

My partner has a shitty contractor company that they are currently with, who failed to tell them that 1. They could apply for insurance with them and 2. When the deadline is. So here we are...

They are a 29 year old Male who has never used insurance ever for a check up, but now that they're in contract with a medical company, they've finally come to realize they need to be checked up on for health.

Any recommendations for a good insurance to sign up with? My partner and I have NO clue how insurance works or what to do with it. Both our parents did not teach this to us and typical googling had made it more complicated.

Insuring a 2004 Ford Mustang GT

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:31 PM PST

I was wondering if anyone could give me an educated guess as to how much it would be to insure a 2004 Ford Mustang GT. I'm 16 years old, in a typical upper-middle-class family, I would be the only driver. If anyone could help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Ok so my truck has recently been in an accident and it was deemed total loss, the trucks cash value is 6,200, but the max there policy can give is $3,000, and the salvage value is $1,500. But i want to keep the truck as it is still repairable. Will i still get my $3,000 or will the amount get deducted but the $1,500?

Would insurance of driver at fault cover rent-a-car insurance expenses?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:42 PM PST

Progressive (insurance of the driver at fault) told me I (WA) can get a rent-a-car while my car is being repaired. Enterpise told me there is currently a rent-a-car reservation for 1 day.

I expect that reservation to be extended, as there is no way they repair the car so soon.

What about insurance of the rent-a-car? Is that covered by Progressive or I pay it out of pocket?

Can my company force me to get dental insurance?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 09:33 PM PST

I'm in California, United States. We have less than 20 employees. I was going through our open-enrollment online and noticed that they now offer dental and vision. After some consideration, I decided to waive myself. However, the platform insisted that I choose why I didn't want it, and there was no option that indicated N/A. It was either you're already on a plan with your spouse or parents, etc. It wanted Group ID info and name.

I filled it out as not interested and moved on, the application is now being reviewed, but I'm curious is this a way of them trying to force me to participate, and can they?

    Simple dental insurance question

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 09:15 PM PST

I have an upcoming root canal procedure next Monday (this is in Louisiana, USA). I do not have dental insurance but I am trying to get one that has at least some coverage for root canal without a waiting period (I saw that Ameritas is one such option, and it covers 20% which is better than nothing). My question is whether they would try to avoid covering anything by saying that the diagnosis that I needed root canal was done before I started the policy? When I try to buy insurance, one of the limitations they mention is "any procedure begun before the insured person was covered under the policy."

In my case, the actual procedure (root canal and related things) has not started yet, but I had done a simple visit to the dentist (on my own money) last month where he did an x-ray and determined that I needed this root canal. The insurance company should not count that as the "beginning of my procedure" and hence not want to pay, right? Just a bit confused about this at the last minute. Feel free to point me to the right direction if this is not a correct subreddit for this type of insurance question.

Job termination related FSA &HSA acc

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 09:12 PM PST

worst timing happened, wife on my insurance with 20 weeks pregnant.

Let go in four weeks. I have three insurance related questions to get prepared before I walk in the final negotiation, if any

    1. as in half way into pregnancy, I guess I have to pay any deductible up to mid-March (last day at work) and then rely on COBRA until I land on my next job? My deducible is 10k
    2. I have 2k in FSA, and the full amount is already deposited in my FSA account, can I use it/use it completely before last day at work or do I need to pay it back if I use it?
    3. Is there anyway to bridge the gap between my current job and my next besides COBRA, possibly cover pregnancy? I am frantically sending out resumes. Just trying to be proactive at this point...

    Appreciated any input!

Shopping for a car insurance for used Honda Civic (2007)

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 08:52 PM PST

We're looking for an insurance for a used car we recently purchased. Which one is the best these days? We have State Farm for our house and with the bundled discount it comes out to $64/mo. Is there anything that beats State Farm? We would be driving about 1k miles a year and have about 18y of driving experience, no history.

My claim adjuster not returning my calls

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 04:34 PM PST

Hi there. I got in a fender bender in FL the other day. It was not my fault (I was going straight and a car from the opposite direction was cutting through the traffic.) My front bumper was damaged and so was his front passenger's door. I was extremely stressed at the moment and did not take any pictures except for his license.

I missed the call from my claim adjuster the first time she called, and I tried to call her back multiple times. She never returned my call.

The other driver's insurance company contacted me the next day after the fender bender happened, asking me to take my car to a body shop, have a repair estimate, and call him back. However, the day after I got the estimate, the claim adjust called and said the other driver's attorney decided to step in and asked me to hold on with my estimate.

During this whole process, I have not got to speak to my claim adjuster at all.

Why would he need an attorney now? Am I in a bad position? What should I do?

    Thanks in advance!!

Is my marijuana use going to be a problem for my Disability?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:22 PM PST

Hey guys im kinda in a bind here so any information is appreciated! I have a short term disability claim(for mental health) im filing for and my claim requires office visit notes and diagnosis. Ok fine thats cool right? Well i was looking through my office visit notes to send to my case manager to make sure everything was there and i saw my psychiatrist put my marijuana use and i froze. I work for the company that's handling my STD claim and im absolutely terrified that this will be disclosed to Human Resources/ my employer. Is my paranoia valid or should i not worry about this information being disclosed to my bosses? Would that be considered a HIPPA violation? Im new to all of this and my anxiety is through the roof at the moment.

If this is the wrong subreddit i am absolutely sorry and do not mean to post in the incorrect spot. I did research on reddit and thought this would be the best place to ask...

    Thank you all again!

Edit: i forgot to mention I live in Ohio if that provides any further help

    Help with Class Code Florida

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 06:59 PM PST

I've recently been asked if I would fill in for project managers on residential projects due to employees taking vacation, COVID, etc etc.

I already do this for another company but they don't require workers comp like this new company is requesting.

I don't want to lose the opportunity because it's a fairly decent size company and it allows me to keep my own schedule (to a point). An exemption is not allowed.

I'm basically a project management contractor.

I'm puzzled on what class code this would fall under. I'll be speaking with a carrier tomorrow. I like to deal with them directly if I can. I just want to make sure they don't misclassify this and issue a high premium.

Oh! If this is not the right sub please shoot me in the right direction!

Can't get home insurance because LexisNexis says I have an open claim in december.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 02:55 PM PST

buying a new house at the end of the month so i'm insurance shopping. my old home insurance, AAA opened and closed a claim in december, no payout, wasn't covered. But now State Farm won't insure me because LexisNexis says the claim isn't closed. I called AAA and they said its closed on their end and there is nothing they can do, called LexisNexis, and they opened a dispute on the claim, but it takes 30 days to resolve, i'm supposed to close sooner than 30 days. Anyone have any advice?

    Car insurance with accident

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 06:20 PM PST

I'm in Colorado. So I was in an accident in 2018. Rear end I was at fault. But no police file was reported so it doesn't show up on my MVR (I know because I requested for a job about a year back). So Im about to switch from progressive to Allstate at the end of the month. Well, when I was getting quote for Allstate they didn't ask if I've been in any accidents. So do they see that I was in an accident in 2018? The reason I ask was because my quote was 30$ cheaper than anywhere else. Also it's not on my mvr so do they see that?

Farmers associates. I have a few questions. Auto claims specifically.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 12:13 PM PST

    Hello future family!

I will be joining your team from the MetLife auto and home purchase. I am excited, because growth is good and at this time, I have been told that I'll be keeping my job! I have some questions that I thought may help ease my mind for the transition. Please feel free to answer one or more if you can!

1- (What is it like working there? Are you happy with it? Does it feel associate oriented?)

2- (Your bonus structure looks similar to ours, ours is paid out 3/15. It has been consistent for 15+ years. Has yours been consistent in the past?)

3- (Do you have a department that reviews auto damage estimates? Then a separate department for handling total loss? Or is it all together?)

4- (Are your claims operations all office based, or is it work from home? We had a rumor that it may be moving towards work from home. Is their any truth to this or rumors about that there?)

5- (Does claims use "guidewire" as a claim management software, or an internal program?)

    Question about teen insurance

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 06:01 PM PST

My mom is gifting me a car when I turn 17. Since teen insurance is ridiculously expensive where I live, can I put the insurance on her name if the car is also registered under her name? I will still be the primary driver but it will technically be her car since her name will be on it. If i did this, would there be any repercussions for me in the event of an accident?

    i'm in NY btw.

    Wood Stove in Outbuilding

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 05:57 PM PST

I know there's no solicitation here, so I'm not asking for that, but I'm just wondering if companies in general will insure an outbuilding with a wood stove?

I haven't broached it with my current company because I was planning to leave them, and I haven't added the outbuilding to my policy yet. I installed the wood stove myself, but I researched it thoroughly and exceeded the allowances in the manual. I spared no expense, and I'm confident it will pass any inspection.

However, I approached the company I desired to purchase insurance from (a business acquaintance I was hoping to give business to) and he said he could not find an underwriter willing to write an outbuilding with a wood stove (he does not know I installed it, and assumes it's up to code). For the record, the building does not have water, but has electricity and is primarily heated by a mini split heat and AC unit. Also, I know about wood stove safety and I burn properly and clean the chimney regularly (not that they would believe me or expect I would do the job correctly). The building was inspected when I built it and passed code, and is considered a shed.

I'm currently with a major company, and was going to approach them now that the other company is out, but I'm worried no company will write this, now.

If no company will write this, is it possible to write a policy on every things else except fires started by the wood stove? Ie, tree falling on the building, theft, electrical fires, etc.

    Any advice??

Edit: I'm in the US, Illinois
