Posted: 27 Feb 2021 08:38 AM PST In this sub, I always see people say that in the first few years, you will have to work much more, but it gets better. How long was that for you and what industry are you in? [link] [comments] |
This cold call opener has been driving me nuts. Is it as bad as I think? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:23 PM PST I've been arguing with my manager about how we pitch. It's a cold calling B2B gig. The opener is "Hello [prospect], I'm James calling from company x on behalf of company z. How are you today?" The "how are you" always seems like bs. What're your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
What can young, inexperienced, sales rep do to be seen as credible to industry veterans? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:48 AM PST My boss is a master salesman in our industry and has decades of experience. People know they can trust and put their money with him. He expects big things out of me but I just have a hard time seeing how somebody would see a young face like mine and take anything I have to say seriously let alone give their money to me. Any advice? [link] [comments] |

Asking pain point discovery questions Posted: 27 Feb 2021 06:38 AM PST Hello everyone, I'm currently learning to become a sales representative and at the moment I have to learn how to discover pain points of our prospects. My task is to identify pain points for our value proposition in the new market that we have to expand into But the resources that I read about this often have questions like "what is the biggest inhibitor to your company growth" and I see no reason why someone should answer such question!!! Can anyone give me any tips on pain points discovery? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2021 12:02 PM PST Hey! I'm a AE in San Francisco working at a large tech staffing company and looking to move to Nashville. Anyone know good tech companies that are Nashville based looking to hire SaaS saleS AEs? [link] [comments] |
On the real...how many work hours do you put in a day? (WFH) Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:19 PM PST I feel like WFH has put my productivity down bc there are so many things I can do...laundry, run quick errands, etc. etc. I get my work done and am ahead of my quota but obviously could be doing more always. Just curious how many real work hours you think you put in a day? [link] [comments] |
Best Tampa / Miami area SaaS companies? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 09:52 AM PST Making move from NY ---> FL in near future and wondering if anyone has recommendations on companies with sales teams out of either Tampa/Sarasota area or South Florida/Miami area. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Job Offer Contingent on Moving Posted: 27 Feb 2021 08:42 AM PST Hey y'all, So because of the pandemic I've been applying to a bunch of roles based here in Philly but also spread out across the country...especially since all are remote atm. I was just given an offer from my top company, but they're based in Austin, TX. I told a white lie throughout the process noting that I had plans to move to Austin at the end of 2021. The reality is I really don't. My thoughts are that if I perform well I'll be able to finesse a remote role into 2022 or even change to a location in one of their offices closer to where I am on the East Coast. I feel stuck from a moral perspective...but then again a pandemic is a pandemic. Have any of you lied around location prior to accepting a job offer? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:55 PM PST I'm thinking of making a move this year to another company and AWS is in my Top 5 for obvious reasons. I currently work in SaaS as an Enterprise AE selling marketing automation tech. Been at my current company for 6 years. I've heard some great things from a friend who works at AWS in Canada. I'm interested to know about the work culture in the US and how AWS competes in the California market. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:39 PM PST I am looking to get out of the biotech/science education sales industry into SaaS. I have a phone screen for a senior sales development rep this coming week at a start up SaaS company near me. I am an inside sales rep (follow the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing) at my company (going on 9 years) currently making 48k base- 65 OTE or more if I exceed my sales targets. In my best years when I've been in the top 3 reps I've made 68-70k before taxes. I am not sure if an SDR job would be close to this. Is it much less? About the same? I realize it probably depends on location- I will say that I am located about an hour from Buffalo, NY, so western NY area. Had an interview for an AE job at another more known SaaS company recently but was denied due to lack of experience with software sales and value selling. Thinking that maybe I will need to start as an SDR to get anywhere. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:19 AM PST I am an introvert and don't do well with one on one sales. I can handle negotiating and meetings. I am a quiet person. Also, I wouldn't say I like marketing. Well, I like the theory and all, but I don't like being involved. I am currently working on a 3D modeling and rendering business, and since the pandemic, we haven't had any work. How do I go about this? [link] [comments] |
Should I Leave + Exit Strategy Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:21 PM PST Hey Y'all, Today I got put on a PIP. I feel as if when things are going well, my boss get's all the praise... when things go wrong, I'm the scape goat. His expectations are high (115 emails a day to prospects which I have to find daily, 300+ calls a day). For every 100 calls I make, I get two meetings (is that fine?). As you can tell, this is my first sales job. Just started cold calling Is it sane to have those numbers? I prospect manually. It feels as if there is not enough time in the day to complete all of this, and as the quarter closes I can tell he's stressed about meeting quota. Last week, I had a coffee chat with a CEO of another startup to pick his brain about sales and marketing. It went well, and he flat out asked if I wanted a job. I liked a marketing position in his company and he flat out said no- you need to be on our sales team. Next week, I have an interview at the referral from the CEO, and I think I have a good shot at getting it. This company is well funded, benefits, etc. The best part about it is that I really like their product. Also, pay is almost double and commission is astronomically higher than where I'm at now. Now that I write this, the decision is a bit more clear. What should my exit strategy be? For reference, PIP meeting Monday, Interview Tuesday. Thanks Guys [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:07 PM PST A google search on promoting from Sales to Mgmt. often comes with the dire warnings of "don't promote your best salespeople", "sales people do not make good managers"....etc... I am a career Enterprise SW Sales person. I have made club, I have done well....it is basically impossible to land a leadership role at another company when you are an individual contributor. It is also viewed as the best way to loose a producer is to promote them to mgmt, you loose a performer and get a sucky manager. At the same time, I have heard people view managers negatively that have never/been a long time since "carrying a bag".....is it a conspiracy to keep us in our role or something else? Just curious as to the thoughts. [link] [comments] |
Transitioning to Sales from Executive Assistant Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:53 PM PST I'm rather introveted, but ready and willing to try anything, not afraid to fail. After four years of being with one REALLY good company, to put it bluntly, I'm sick of waiting for a bit of reconigition for the work I do, and busting my ass for raises and now it feels like I'm being micromanaged which I HATE-I do my job just fine thank you my clients tell you that in the feedback I get. I feel if I get in sales, I have more control. The more work I put it, the more reward I will get out of it, eventually, accumulating earnings more quickly. I've heard introverts make great sales people, since we're good listeners-I've been told several times I should've gone to therapy by my coworkers cause I'm THAT lady-the one they all go to for problems lol. I listen, offer advice. I feel like sales is kinda like that. I'm going into digital marketing sales, and I'm wondering what to do in order to hit the ground running-I'm very motivated, and a go getter. I'm super stoked about the career change but also a little nervous-any advice is helpful. [link] [comments] |
