Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. Discussing net worth with friends and family

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:21 AM PST

Ive been fortunate enough to hit large financial milestones due to successful investing. I agree with the general advice here about not discussing that with people, however in practice I'm thinking it wont be so simple. If I do retire early, im young enough that telling people ive retired is tantamount to saying I have money. Or if someone asks me on a date what I do for a living, saying I'm retired is also tantamount to saying I have money. I dont like the idea of lying to people... should I find like a cover story or something? How would you address this?

If I buy a car how long before my credit improves

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 04:09 PM PST

Is it possible to increase credit by 50-100 points in one year by buying a car and making payments on time? I'm working on improving my financial position by increasing credit score. I currently have no debt so I'm considering buying a car but wondering if the debt to income ratio could make me less suitable to buy a home. I also just got a credit card so I could use that, but forgo a car. I know nothing about anything finance related. I never had credit, only bought one car when I was a teen and since then I've been very responsible by not incurring debt.
