If you had $6,000 to spend to rebuild a small computer business. What would spend it on and why? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:29 AM PST Here's what you got to start with: • A Wix Hosted professional website with booking. • 1 Gpbs Internet (dynamic IP unfortunately). • Soldering Work Station (eBay special). • Digital Microscope 🔬 & Monitor (eBay). • Chip writer/reader/programmer. • Established in 2013 with all five star reviews. • Uniforms. You're lacking: • Business Cards. • Advertising campaigns and promotional ideas. • Followers. • Clients (😅). • Inventory. (Flux, tin, HDDS, SSDS, RAM, Ect.) You offer the following services (loosely): • Basic electronics repair (from computers to car parts - anything that takes an electric current - especially if you can find the schematic.). • Micro-soldering • Ethical hacking (password retrieval, unlocking, bios flashing, iCloud removal on iMacs and MacBook pros ((with proof of purchase)), low level penetration testing services and security analysis/consulting. • Networking and Connectivity Troubleshooting. • Custom Arcades. •Virus removal. •Data Recovery. You don't have any overhead. Your only true expensive is your website. What would you do with $6,000 to re-build and grow this business and why? (Thanks for reading and any and all input! This hypothetical situation is my side hustle that I've always wanted to turn into my main. I've always just been unsure on what I need to do to grow and now finally will have a little chunk of change to get me there. I appreciate ANY and ALL input! ) [link] [comments] |

How important is business school/is it necessary? Posted: 08 Jan 2021 08:02 PM PST As a high school senior in Ontario, Canada, one of the things I am contemplating for university is business. As background knowledge, I am also interested in design, CS, and engineering, one of them, design, I have talent and experience with (talent with artistic skills in general). At the end of the day, I want to create a business on my own where I am not anyone's employee. I am confident of the skillset I have now and what I could grow in the future, and in me as a person in general, but I'm struggling to determine if I should really go to a business school or not. So here are the two ideas that are playing a tug of war in my mind: Go to a business school and study business (lead by the idea that schools like Schulich, Ivey and Rotman are prestigious for a reason and give a lot of networking opportunities): this was the first textbook idea that popped in my mind; if you wanna do business, study business. The power of networking those schools have sounds like gold itself, and it seems like the straightforward way of learning everything you need to maintain your business such as accounting, HR and more. Study in a specific field and learn business by experience (lead by the idea that business is more or less 90% experience and not textbook): what "studying in a specific field" means is that I would take programs such as design, CS, or engineering, develop my skills, then make a business based on those skills I learned then start learning business by experience, books or online. This does have the benefit of the thought that business schools sound like they are filled with overwhelming work and pointless competition. What do you think is the better of the two based on your experience? Any comment you can provide on any subject I mentioned would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

[Q} Which online/social media platform should I use for online ads? Posted: 08 Jan 2021 06:42 PM PST I'm curious about which online ads I should use for my business. **THIS IS FOR POST COVID** I have a platform which allows hosts to rent out unused space within their homes as office space to guests. Guests co-work out of a host's home. Which platform should I use to market my platform and why? [link] [comments] |
PPP 2nd Draw will be a staged rollout Jan 13th - March 31st 2021 Posted: 08 Jan 2021 04:44 PM PST From SBA dated 01/08/21 Ensuring Access for All SBA continues to call upon its lending partners, including Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs), to redouble their efforts to assist eligible borrowers in underserved and disadvantaged communities. At least $25 billion is being set aside for Second Draw PPP Loans to eligible borrowers with a maximum of 10 employees or for loans of $250,000 or less to eligible borrowers in low- or moderate-income neighborhoods. To promote access for smaller lenders and their customers, SBA will initially only accept Second Draw PPP Loan applications from community financial institutions starting on January 13, 2021. The PPP will open to all participating lenders for Second Draw PPP Loans shortly thereafter. Visit www.sba.gov or www.treasury.gov for more information and details, including the comprehensive program rules. Posted: 08 Jan 2021 03:43 PM PST Hi All, I was asked to be a day of coordinator and someone has agreed to pay me $500. They are going to pay me directly, and then I will take my expenses out (materials, travel). After that happens, say I am left with $400. Do I go and just pay income taxes on that $400? I assume I take it and take 92.35% then pay 15.3% for self-employment then the remaining will be subject to income tax? While this is my first gig, I am an event planner (w-2) so I have other income and also plan grow this business on the side. Any other advice? Should I open an LLC or something? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Jan 2021 02:25 PM PST You can do generic branding on the Web using linkets, which are like cheap domains (eg [Ramen], [Dresses], [Cars]). You might be an existing firm in some field like selling movie tickets, or flowers. https://wesboudville.medium.com/multichannel-marketing-with-linkets-2b43f2d08161 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:24 PM PST The product is in the pet products industry and I have something that changes how people think about trimming cat claws. The product has seen a lot of interest from companies however the biggest question was manufacturability of it. Before I can go any further and to make sure I do not run into any employee agreement issues of IP (intellectual property), I need some way to help fund my business and sustain myself and my wife. (My wife is not very happy of the idea of leaving my job but I have to due to the employee agreement I have with my job) As a mechanical engineer I have the capabilities to make this product successful but before I can leave my job, my wife has asked me to make sure that we will be ok during this time since she is still in school. Its a very hard situation for me since everything in my heart and soul knows that within a year, we could have deals with chewy.com. and have the product in many retailers. Amazon.com would also be viable as well. Their are 380 Million customers in our space who I think it would help solve their problems. I estimate the margin on each product sold would be between 60-70% Start up capital for tooling and other high volume production would be around 250-300k Selling price could be from $19.99 to 39.99. Overall, this business could make at least $100 Million a year once it is in full spin. Thanks for your thoughts/advice and tips on what to do! Best [link] [comments] |
