My Crazy Entrepreneur Journey as A Teen

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:25 PM PST

    Hi there!

(I request you to imagine this post as if you are watching a youtube video. it'll really engage and immerse you into this story as if it were you)

I am ROHIT, a fellow 16 y/o aspiring entrepreneur with some knowledge about running businesses and marketing.

Without any further ado let's get started:

In the Month of October, I started researching more ways of earning on youtube and medium.

I stumbled upon on a niche called "dropshipping", (in which you act as a middle man between buyer and producer). Having some free time, I created a 3 Product store with DashNex ( e-commerce website builder). With not much idea about selecting products, I chose some already well-selling products whose ads were being displayed on Facebook/Instagram with extremely nice engagement (i.e 1k+ Comments, 400k+ Views,100k+Likes). I selected one Kitchen Product which was Electric Food Chopper and One Pet Product as people generally spend huge amounts of money on pets, it was a Type of Dog Chewing Ball but with a treat inside the trap

Many of you might have doubt that why did I choose DashNex over Shopify?

The simple reason was- Firstly I was testing this thing the first time and I did not want to spend much money on this. Dashnex Costed $17 (Lifetime) vs Shopify which costed $29 a month.

Though Shopify had much much more design and app options, I chose dashnex.

Secondly, many people are familiar with Shopify's checkout style and might mistake it for some spam which occurred with them with another store.

Now the thing left was to upload products, photos and write the description. I found the Dog product for $6 +$4 Shipping (Total $10) and Listed for $29.97 +Lottery For $50 My Shop's Gift Card, for the Kitchen Gadget, I found it for $14.56 + $4.7 Shipping (Total $19.26) and listed up for $39.97 + Free Cookbook (Written by my Mom about some Indian Recipes)

The Cookbook and Lottery were the things which separated my product from rest of others. (USP - Unique Selling Point).

With store ready to takeoff, marketing was left :(.

I began with Instagram Influencers and Snapchat Influencers based in USA.

I chose Instagram stories over the post as they were dirt cheaper than a post.(If post for $40 then story for $15 only) Also, People constantly keep checking story posts and it also has direct C2A ( Call to Action) with swipe up unlike post, with which first a person sees the post and clicks on profile and then finally get the link. This decreases the chances of conversions/sale.

I bought a gig on Fiverr for $10 which gave me List of 5 Influencers + Contact Template + Some Hashtags.

I contacted those Instagram Pages which the Fiverr guy shared and contacted them. I bought STORY WITH SWIPE UP LINKS on all 5 pages for a total of $57. I created some advertisements which looked like regular posts related to Instagram page. In this way people tend to view the complete story and hence increases the chance of conversions.

It took me 2hrs to create the advertisements which looked like the post. I being an amateur with painting and hence I drew myself ads for all of them.

All of my posts were setup to post on Saturday 5 PM EST, as people were generally free this time.

I also created separate TRACKING links for all pages so that I can track which page is performing and which is not. Now, everything was set up, and I was waiting eagerly for Saturday.

I finished my online classes and checked wether all story posts are up or not. Out of 5 story posts 4 were up. I messaged the 5th page but he was not responding, after several messages he blocked me !

I was damn angry at that idiot but nevertheless, money was gone,so I stuck with those four pages.

The time is ticking. (tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk) and then suddenly I hear a "Cha-Ching" On my PayPal (I setup custom notification for Paypal)

At exactly 6:40 PM EST I secured my sale of Kitchen Gadget for $39.97.... (Wohooo!)

I was sooooooooo happy and excited. Just like the birthday feeling except no cake. (✨).

After 20 or 30 mins another cha-ching for Kitchen Gadget! , then another 5 sales for Kitchen Gadget.

Also the dog chew thing bought 4 orders the same day.

Till 9:30 PM on Saturday I had generated revenue of $430 (Mind that this was JUST REVENUE "NOT*" Profit)*

I went to sleep at 10 PM (My usual schedule for sleeping irrespective of holidays/events is fixed but there are some exceptions..... This rule is not made by my parents but by me for myself)

I believe in getting good and adequate sleep, hence I sleep at 10 and wake up at 5 AM.

I woke up at 5 AM, did Study (Maths and Science) from 5:30 - 7:30 AM, went for jogging , returned at 8:10 - bath and all that stuff.

Also, I strictly do not check my phone after waking up until my classes, I think it distracts and doesn't let my complete productivity to dive in.

During Jogging, instead of podcasts/songs, I think about ideas as this is the time when we are in nature and there is complete silence*.(No offence intended to listeners)*

My online classes start at 8:50 AM.

I checked my Phone and to my utter shock, I received 25 more orders!

This might be small for you but for me as a first-timer, it was huge.

Out of those 25 orders, 19 were the kitchen gadget and 6 were Dog Chew thing.

So, my sales stood at $940 after yesterday's.

Time passed and my class ended at 4 PM.

Between the classes, I got 4 more sales of kitchen gadget for worth $160.

By this time my ads went off and sales almost stopped.

Totalling the amount, I generated $1530 revenue. Product Cost + Shipping was Approx $702, Proceesing Fees Were $45 and The Advertisement cost was $57, There were 3 Return request but i managed them for exchange so -$ 60 also remember the $50 gift card, so -$50.

The profit was - $616 Wohoooooo In one single day!

Actually, the benefit was that I was the only one providing Free Gifts which were quite unusual with these type of products. So, people shared it with their friends and family.

I got 78% Refers from Instagram and rest form direct links which were shared by people.

There is more part of the story left but i don't want to make it a long post so yeah, if you liked my second part of journey do lemme know!🤗🤗💯

Any suggestions/Advice are welcomed, also the 🎅🎄🎅CHRISTMAS PART OF THIS STORE IS Gonna be Amazing, so do let me know if you want me to write a post about that!

    Thanks for your time!⏲

Stay Safe and Belated Happy New Year :)

Forgive me if this is the wrong place.

I'm looking to register a LTD company via GOV.UK.

I'm not planning on using the company for the time being, but I would like to register the name to make sure, will this cause any issues - especially with it being registered to my home address?

    App developer here

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 02:12 PM PST

Hey, my name is Rahul and I am an App Developer based out of India. I specialize in developing iOS & android apps and have been freelancing for the last couple of months. I charge only $400 USD for building a basic app. That's right- Only $400. No hidden charges, no strings attached. You will receive the complete source code of the app as well. The reason I am able to charge so less is that the currency exchange rate from USD to INR favors me.

If you are looking for an app developer that develops a fully functional app in less than 3 weeks and doesn't hurt your pocket at the same time, then I'm your guy.

DM me if you are interested to see my portfolio and discuss this further.

    Cheers.

    Business ethics

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:00 AM PST

I am a masters business student and wanted to gain a broader perspective on an assigned question: "Critically discuss the challenges that multinational firms face in internationalizing their ethical policies throughout their organizations"

According to you does this ask to discuss the challenges faced by firms in creating a policy which all of it different organizations globally

or the challenges in implementing different and 'tailored' policies for the different regions it operates in

welcome to any help or perspectives

I have a fun prompt for you guys - "Create a business that utilizes the fast-growing AI field that has the potential to improve people's daily lives."

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:24 AM PST

So AI has grew a LOT, and I wanted to discuss about this topic.

Given the social and economic background of today's society, what kind of business would you create that utilizes the fast growing AI field that has the potential to improve people's daily lives.

You can do anything. An example might be Neuralink, where they are developing brain chips to fix mental illnesses and more, and Tempus, a medical AI company. But these ones don't really improve people's DAILY lives, as opposed to the far future.

Be creative! I will award my favorite business.
