Engineering at Imperial College London Posted: 31 Dec 2020 12:06 AM PST Hi I'm currently reading chemical engineering at imperial and have built a genuine interest in investment banking and the history behind it too. I have been taking many optional business modules and go to a business society as well. What other thing can I do to be on par with the competition and break open the doors to IB or even test the waters. [link] [comments] |

Ski/Bike shop starting up. NEED HELP Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:49 PM PST Don't just laugh at me because I'm a 19 year old with a dream, but I've recently realized that the only huge ski and bike shop within a 30 mile radius is closing. They pulled in lots of business for 50 years until the owners decided to retire. I really want to start one in my city now but obviously as a 19 year old, I have no idea how to go about this. Does anyone have any tips? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2020 06:16 PM PST Just registered with the state and started my sole proprietorship with videography... I'm getting this same email multiple times from a guy that I already told I wasn't available and it's very odd. It seems automated. My question is why? and has anyone else dealt with fake requests for service? I responded the first time and his reply seemed to come from google translate and none of the request made sense. Non-profit vs grassroots vs initiative vs movement ? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 05:11 PM PST I want to start a 'movement' in my community that does donation drives, fundraisers, education initiatives to raise awareness for my city's Native American community. What would this be considered (non-profit, grassroots, etc). Do I have to file taxes to be considered one of these organization forms? [link] [comments] |

Why is it hard for businesses to get back online after they go bankrupt? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:26 PM PST I keep hearing about how many business going bankrupt is a big deal. Don't they have a proven business model? Wouldn't banks lend them money to get back in business once they can safely resume operations? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:35 PM PST I am looking over a Glenday Sieve analysis that my company had produced prior to my starting here, and I have a sneaky suspicion it is wrong, so was hoping someone here might enlighten me (otherwise, please don't hesitate to point me elsewhere). As a precursor, I am only new to Glenday Sieves, so please correct any issues with my logic below as you see fit To give background, the sieve is a reasonably new tool the company has been using, and are using it to classify their product value by these tiers. Tier 1 has been attributed to the top 50% of goods based on value sold, tier 2 between 50 and 90, tier 3 90 - 99, tier 4 99< (and tier 5, which don't sell at all). Based on this rationale, there is approx. 109 units of tier 1 stock, 1176 tier 2 stock, 4525 tier 3 stock, 9514 tier 4 stock, and 4352 tier 5 stock. From what I can see, there is not actually any regard (or even a column) in regard to the stock quantity or percentage - it simply bases it off what value they generate (which I feel is not quite right) To try and do this sieve properly (to my interpretation of it) I have a list of all the stock over all our branches, with the YTD sales of each in descending order (highest at top). I then have a cumulative percentage column next to that, indicating the cumulative percentage of the top n rows to overall sales. Next to this, I have a column that cumulates the count of the products as a percentage (eg if I had 100 products, then by row 10 this would be 10%). My interpretation of the sieve is that generally, 6% of the SKUs should account for around 50 odd percent of value of goods sold. However, mine is much lower (to the tune of around 0.5%). If I go down to the value of 6% of SKU, that 6% of stock equates to approx 89% of the value of the company. Scrolling further, I see that 29.53% of the SKU's in the list equate for 99.0% of the company's value. So, two questions: 1) Would I be correct in interpreting that we have entirely too much wasted stock (70% of it has no use)? 2) Should the tiers be based on the value of the sold goods, or the percentage of stock units? Have the tiers been applied correctly as above? Thank you so much in advance! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Dec 2020 09:40 AM PST I have been seeing people talk about creating LLC or partnerships for trading to get tax benefits. From what I'm seeing, there's no direct benefit as they are pass through and the most I see you could get out of it is writing off some expenses. I feel like I'm missing something for so many people to be recommending it. Or is there some threshold of profit for doing this to be worthwhile? Any insights will be helpful. [link] [comments] |

Need help with a business name to do with pixels Posted: 30 Dec 2020 06:52 AM PST So i've made this website, got everything ready, can be published within a click of a button. Only problem, we haven't came up with a good name i like. I'd like it to have pixel somewhere in the name, and want it to be a cheap and available .com domain. Also needs to be nice and short preferably, with max 10 letters. The website is a place where users sell individual pixels to make a big picture. [link] [comments] |
