I had my first paying client today! It didn't go the way I hoped... Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:39 PM PST The client left satisfied with what they received, but I wasn't happy with the experience they had and am doubtful they will be a return customer. Unfortunately it was due to circumstances outside of my control unless I had wanted to compromise the experience in other ways or potentially come off as an asshole, so it stings even more because I have a lot of pride in my services and my customer deserved better service than they got, even though they said they felt they got their money's worth out of the situation. Does anyone has any similar anecdotes or tips for how to handle suboptimal circumstances that would otherwise negatively impact the way your customers experience your business? [link] [comments] |
What changes did you make in your business that significantly increased your income? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:04 AM PST When I first started my business I had no idea what to charge. I was billing $25/hr ten years ago. A coach had me double the price and double it again. Eventually I was earning $125-150/hr. I watched my business go from $30K/year to $150k/year. What changes did you make in your business that significantly increased your income? [link] [comments] |
I get a lot of traffic to my online store but can’t seem to get sales. Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:05 PM PST My business Straya Mates is a phone accessory business starting with just phone cases at the moment (www.strayamates.com) gets between 150 to 400) online store sessions per day, I've been wondering why even though we do seem to have a constant flow of traffic to the website we aren't able to get people actually buying, I'm not sure weather it's because of the products not having enough different types or because the products itself isn't what people are looking for. Or maybe my store sessions aren't nearly as high as it should be. This whole experience of an online store is very new to me as we just launched a few months ago. Any advice on what to improve on would be greatly appreciated, thank you. [link] [comments] |

filing a business name trademark vs creating a logo: which comes first? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:42 PM PST is it better to file a business name trademark first? then start the logo? prob is if reversed, you can do logo first then file for trademark of business name, an if trademark rejected, your logo useless? Are you interested in a Webinar for Small Business Owners? Posted: 02 Nov 2020 03:56 AM PST Hey all, The business I work for is hosting a free 1-hour webinar for eCommerce business owners this week, Thursday 5 November. We are going to be sharing a lot of content around preparing and succeeding during Black Friday. We've partnered with Google to present this webinar. I thought this might be useful for those of you who are new to eCommerce and may need a refresher, or anyone looking for BFCM tips. We also want to find out which kind of content you would like to see covered in an event like a Webinar? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Web Store with no sales conversions :( Posted: 02 Nov 2020 03:37 AM PST Good Morning, my wife opened a children's clothes web store around 4 months ago (www.littlepiltzintli.com), this store is based on BugCommerce, it is connected to Facebook (www.facebook.com/littlepiltzintli), she also has an Instagram profile (@littlepiltzintli), and she is posting everyday, in fact, she just made a coupon for Halloween that was valid until yesterday, in all this time she inly had 1 order, and she is getting desperate because she has a significant amount of capital in inventory. She is doing ads on facebook and IG, but at this point we don't know what else to do in order to get conversions... [link] [comments] |
Looking for a form builder that lets customers create their own account to save their information Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:55 PM PST Im running an online food business and customers wanted to have the option to create an account to save their information for easier access when they order next time. Should I LLC this venture separately? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:23 PM PST My roommate and I have an idea for a business, so we LLC ourselves and have 50-50 ownership. That business is still in the works, but I have a solo venture that I'm working on (cosmetic line completely unrelated to what my roommate and I have planned). Do I need to LLC this one separately? Do I need to LLC it at all? I'm just concerned down the line having someone have 50-50 ownership in a company that they had no parts of. I'm new at this. Any advice in any realm would be appreciated. Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:26 PM PST I just started a digital agency specializing in mostly web design, and some advertising, and branding. So far, I have worked for friends and friends of friends. How can I book new clients, and get my name out there? I am using Instagram to market my business, and have about 300 followers, many of whom are local to my area. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:23 AM PST Have you used a business coach? How did you find one? What was your criteria for deciding between multiple options? Was it worth it? How much does/did it cost? [link] [comments] |
I want to launch a board game and I need to make a business plan Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:56 PM PST So over the summer I created a board game. It has been really popular among friends and family and I'm currently making a vector version of it. My original board game is great but its homemade and I originally just wanted to make a cleaned up version for myself. Ive been talking to my friend about it and I started thinking there might be a market for my game. Before I start thinking about actually launching the game I need to make a business plan. In high school I took a business course and part of the course was creating a business, making a business plan, getting investors, selling our product and then liquidating the company, it was a cupcake company if anyone wants to know. For the business plan we had a template and it was pretty thorough, but I lost access to it four years ago and I dont have a copy. I know I need to have plans like where to find investors, market research, developers, specifics of the game, potential product growth, etc. but without a template I'm not really sure where to start. I was hoping someone here would know of a good source to a business plan template! Thanks for any and all help! [link] [comments] |
The best resources / courses for buying a business? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:38 PM PST I just did a quick search and didn't find much. Alternatively, who are some thought leaders you follow? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:42 PM PST Hey all. What cloud system would you use in order to take bookings online? Ideally it should be Facebook integrated. We are offering a trial of our first product and want to enable people to book a slot and have one delivered. It would save us a huge amount of legwork if this could be automated. Cheap or free is best. Facebook doesn't seem to do it without a price on the "service" [link] [comments] |

What’s your opinion and thoughts on my business idea? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:02 PM PST I just thought of this today and wanted to know what everyone here thought. I live in a relatively small town full of small stores and manufacturing businesses. However I'm within relatively close proximity to a city and many other medium sized towns. I heard about concrete 3D printing recently and the thought popped into my head about a concrete 3D printing manufacturing plant. I looked into it and it's completely untapped in this area from my research. Got any ideas how I should try to see if there may be a demand for this? Also what are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Have you had any success in gaining clients through cold emailing? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:20 PM PST Basically the title. I run a web development/management business and I'm looking for some new clients - I'm considering writing a bot that can extract the emails of businesses from my local chamber of commerce but am trying to decide if it's worth my time. If you've been successful with this technique, what about your initial cold email works? I'm thinking about a foot-in-the-door technique, where I simply ask if they're happy with their current website/website management. Open to any advice! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:10 PM PST Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with a mobile pizza set up and was wondering if they could lend some tips. My idea is to set up at farmers markets and small local events so I have been looking into semi portable pizza ovens and well, its not an easy choice. I want gas in order to be more cost efficient as well as less reliant on the need for power or a generator but everything I find is either seems too small or too large. If anyone has any idea or any tips, I would appreciate them. Also: This is the oven I have narrowed it down to, so as far as anything smaller would be appreciated. https://www.peerlessovens.com/product/c131p/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwufn8BRCwARIsAKzP6971DAVI34S2F_wHpLFpwj-9kqPUs_hynV7FGCeM0zaGrpBTuqLGhOEaAidaEALw_wcB [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:41 PM PST I started a small business pre fabricating pvc and copper pipe units for the US markert. I hired a couple of people in Mexico to manually build the spec pieces not anticipating demand would increase so rapidly. I need to automate pvc cutting and "gluing". I've found Indian and Chinese machines but not American, Canadian, or Mexican (for all our machines and supplies I'd like to stick with North American companies if at all possible). I've reached out to our American pipe supplier but they pointed me to a Chinese manufacturer (ironic). Anyone here familiar with and can point me in the right direction? [link] [comments] |
First time business owner - starting new company Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:26 PM PST Hey guys, I've been a web developer/marketer (facebook/google ads / seo) for a little over 10 years now, and I finally got my LLC to start my own marketing agency. I've had this dream for a long time, but now that it's time to move, I'm really nervous and keep putting it off. I have the domain and everything and am building my own site. I have no employees, but a lot of contacts and friends from years in the industry. I plan to contract out anything I can't do myself until I make enough to afford employees. I am only familiar with the tech side, but am totally in the dark on the business management side. Do any of you guys have any advice about things you wished you had known your first time? Or anything that helped your beginnings go smoothly? It feels like I'm leaving for a trip and know I forgot to pack something! Thank you all in advance! [link] [comments] |

T-mobile owns magenta and my branding is close. Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:35 PM PST Hi everyone, as you can see by the title my branding is somewhat close to T-Mobile magenta. I recently found out that their magenta is actually trademarked and they sue like crazy for that. I'm not even in the same industry as them but I was wondering if anyone knows how close I am able to be without them freaking out. T-Mobile branding hex: #EA0A8E My branding(Postbin) hex: #FF406c I'm not sure if I should contact them. Not even sure how I would do that. Like I said before, I'm not even in the same industry but it seems like the are trigger happy with their lawsuits. Any help or feedback would be amazing! [link] [comments] |
Should I quit my job? Before you say no please read! Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:11 PM PST Started a custom handmade ceramic candle and cold process soap business. We do refills and are aimed towards quality & sustainability! I have been up & running for over a year. I had a really cool job with all this opportunity for management experience as my boss is an idiot and kinda checked out. It's getting way worse since Covid and our industry - commercial corporate millwork in NYC, but everyone is now working from home. The workplace has become toxic, he is high (weed) all the time. And that's all good but he's making HORRIBLE decisions and anytime I consult him he gives me an answer that has no business sense whatsoever. I care about the people I work with so I don't just say yes to him. I want to quit and pursue trying to make this thing a full time gig. I just don't want to quit and go into another full time job starting from the bottom for my sanity. I don't have much savings- everything is invested in the business which is now debt free and generating revenue but only as much as I can handle as I'm working 50 hrs a week for my job. Should I take a loan? Should I try to dive in and maybe try to find part time work in the beginning to offset my expenses so the business doesn't have much pressure!? Exciting but scary time! Let me know thanks reddit fam! [link] [comments] |
