NJ just legalized Marijuana. Is worth investing into it? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:34 PM PST I live in New Jersey and own other businesses. Just wondering if it would be worth opening a dispensary or not. I know there are banking issues, but other than that, is it a bad idea to jump into? Any insights? Why or why not? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 02:57 PM PST Hi All, How do you go about professally firing a client? I have one that keeps asking for more and more, and complains that we aren't delivering all to their satisfaction. We booked them in on a fixed time, and with what they want we aren't making money off it. Client isn't happy, staff aren't happy, im not happy. [link] [comments] |
Do small businesses need a website? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 08:08 PM PST Hey there community. Do you think we need a website for our businesses considering everything is going online now?If yes, why? [link] [comments] |
Thinking of starting a company that offers professional marketing services at small business prices Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:24 PM PST I have a marketing agency that works with medium-large scale businesses doing strategy, social media management, digital advertising, and content creation. The biggest issue I've noticed in small business marketing is the owner either puts it on the back burner or they hire a entry level marketing employee hoping they're able to do everything at a high level. Recently I came up with a way for my agency to provide small businesses with a team of experts (strategist, photographer, videographer, social media expert, graphic designer, and ad buyer) at a fraction of the price of 1 entry level marketing employee. I'm trying to get a sense of whether or not this service is something small businesses would be interested in. [link] [comments] |
How are your sales now compared to last year? Mine dropped drastically instead of the usual pickup Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:25 AM PST Hello, I am in my business for 10 years, every year, around the end of October sales pick up and stay 3-4x of what they normally are until like 15th December. This year, despite corona etc was great, I was 300% up from last year. But since October, my sales are horrible, and in the past 7 days I am 50% down from the same period last year! I was awaiting pickup like last year but nope, it is actually getting worse and worse, despite my current large sale coupon offer (same as last year). This seems super odd, even considering the corona and US elections ( I sell worldwide). Anyone experiencing this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:41 PM PST Hey there, I started a small Facebook based business selling handmade things as a hobby but I'm wanting to take it up to a more legitimate level. I'm currently looking to see if I should be selling on Etsy vs making my own site and if so which site builder I should use? What's the pros and cons and won't cost an arm and a leg to use? Help I feel like there's so many to choose from and so much info that I don't know where to start. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:33 PM PST I'm looking into POS systems for my mom's bakery and I was just wondering if there were any good ones. My background is in web development so I wanted to set her up with a POS for her shop and also integrate it with a website I'd build for her online sales. Unfortunately, money has been a little tight since COVID but I'm hoping this upgrade along with the online sales might help her out a ton. Has anyone used any that worked well with an online store and would you recommend them? [link] [comments] |
What's the best web hosting for a small business? Posted: 04 Nov 2020 01:29 AM PST I am confused about bluehost, dreamhost, hostinger and other well noted web hosts. I am aware they do have a hidden cost after the first time promo. I want to know your opinion which worked best for your small business. Thanks! If you can also recommend other web hosts that would be great too :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2020 01:16 AM PST Using various social ad products is very important to stand out from the crowd. Features like:- - Geo-filters - Automated response (Messenger/Whatsapp) - AR Filters - etc The main ingredient for social media is it's ability to be "social", which means people can engage with you. Using all the ad/social media products correctly can help you cut through the noise and build more engagement around your brand. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2020 12:53 AM PST I own a real estate management and development that's in it's VERY early stages (as in: I'm planning on purchasing the first rental property in February). I'm considering just taking the $10, 000 I have saved and using it as collateral for 11% down on a $90, 000 loan considering I can get one and then accelerating the timeline on the whole thing. Only thing is I'm a bit concerned about stretching my credit too far. The company isn't considered it's own entity in creditor eyes either so they still look at my credit score for the company. I know exactly what I'd use the money for it's just a matter of whether or not this is a sound idea or I want to keep trying to find other avenues. I really don't think I'm suited to pitching investors and VCs since I've been saving for a while on this and I'm really more of a one-man kinda show. Not to mention I don't really have anything other than a general business plan and my own self to show anyone. On the other hand, what's the worst anyone says, 'no'? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 11:58 PM PST Hi, I am looking for a new business credit card. Currently using a TD first class infinite Visa. Looking at other options now. We spend 60,000 to 100,000 per month with all gas and business expense. [link] [comments] |
Is an IT Services Business still a viable business these days? How can I validate this? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 02:05 PM PST Hi all, Considering starting up my own IT services business in the near future, but having trouble validating this as a business that has a strong enough demand. I am a 26yo IT Graduate with a strong and broad range of knowledge when it comes to IT services, e.g. Virus Removal, PC setup, parts repair/replacement, router/networking setups for residential or small/medium businesses. I could also market a 'start-to-finish' type recurring fee service in which I manage all your IT needs on a monthly fee. The other issue is that I currently work full-time and would not be able to quit this job. Any tips on how I could start this as a side-hustle while still working my normal hours? Do you believe there is still a market for this type of service? Any tips of validating this as a good business idea? I am based in Australia (if that changes things)! [link] [comments] |
Absolutely no memory for names or faces Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:37 AM PST One thing that has always hindered me is I have an extremely poor memory of names and faces except for the super familiar people that I see all the time. I deal with the public at my retail store; and people are always coming in and I'm at a disadvantage. I could sell a $5000 item to someone on Monday, and if he comes in 2 weeks later I have literally no clue at first who the person is. I don't think this is fixable, it's just how my brain works. Normally, something will trigger my memory and I'll suddenly remember everything, but the initial feeling of having no clue who someone is is constant. Add to that face masks and it's 10X worse. I always feel like I'm at a disadvantage, the person coming in knows he's coming in, knows he's going to see me, and walks in at the time of his choosing. Whereas I'm just sitting here and I have to remember everyone instantly. Does anyone else have this problem/issue? [link] [comments] |
Can we still use the email address after shutting down the web site? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:43 PM PST Hey guys, I'm not even sure where to start with all of this. Long story short, we aren't happy with the company we are using for our web design/hosting etc. We are looking at potentially shutting down our WordPress site and instead just using a builder like Wix to more easily manage content. The question is: if we close down our web site (let's say lunchbox6624.com) what will happen to our emails that run through there? We run them through GSuite, so will they still work xxxx@lunchbox6624.com or would we need to create new ones through the Wix site? [link] [comments] |
Quick Question: How to record sub-rented equipment to client. Quickbooks. Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:30 PM PST I work in the photo industry. I'm renting $800 worth of equipment from a "rental house". I'll use that equipment on set and charge for it's use. However, I'll be marking it up to say $1,000. Is this considered COGS? In my Quickbooks file, I have items and expenses related to equipment rental and it has me confused. Sometimes I rent equipment I own to others. I have/use an item for this called "Equipment Rental" connected to an income account. Sometimes I rent equipment that I need to use from a 3rd party. Sometimes that equipment rental cost gets passed onto a client (as in this case with a markup) and sometimes it doesn't (I have an expense account for this). So... How to record the credit card transaction for the equipment rental? How to then add that + markup to my invoice for my client in a way that connects and tracks everything properly. Apologies if this is vague or obvious... have been lacking sleep lately! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:23 PM PST Hello! I was reaching out to my networks in regards to see if anyone was open to letting me assist them. I work with ADP helping provide businesses from 1 to 200 employees with cost savings, technology, and save up time with unneeded tasks. Now is the time of year for businesses to benchmark their services heading into the new year. I have been able to save companies a massive deal of money on retirement costs, payroll/hr service fees, workers comp, and much more. I was hoping to hear from businesses that are willing to benchmark and compare their current services and allow me to present them all ADP can offer them in savings and technology. Worst case scenario, you are happy with your current services but at-least know what else is out there. We have a number of promotions such as 4 months free and free W2's. Please reach out to me! Looking forward to hearing from you all. [link] [comments] |
Where to/How to sell T-shirts Online? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 03:26 PM PST I tried amazon merch, but the declined my request. Are there any other good options of websites where people can sell their own t-shirts, and can you tell me what might be involved? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:49 PM PST So I'm wondering if any of you guys have run into this. I'm in the residential painting industry and I'm new to hiring employees in California. I hired Gusto as my payroll company. It seems that in order to try out new painters (employees), I have to put them on the books before they even step on the job site so that they get paid for their first day (even if after day one there's a mutual agreement it's not going to be a good fit) and so that they are covered under my worker's comp policy. This is all well and good, except, sometimes people aren't a good fit. Now I have to "dismiss" them and worry about them trying to collect unemployment from my company, right? I guess that's not the case if they quit, right? And I'm assuming there's some sort of minimum # of days/hours an employee must work for a company before they're eligible for unemployment? Someone told me there's something called contract-to-hire. Like a trial period. This sounds ideal for both parties. Maybe in 3 weeks we have a meeting and decide if its a good fit for both of us. I emailed Gusto and they don't have this feature. What are my options? Just be a better interviewer? For me, it's all about attitude, work ethic, and reliability. Surprisingly hard to find. Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:16 AM PST I received a EDIL advance and PPP loan which was forgiven. I now owe back the difference which is essentially the EDIL advance. What are the chances that this gets forgiven in the next few months or year? (guessing this will not happen) I am just wondering if I should pay it off in one go to eliminate paying interest or pay it over the 5 year schedule. [link] [comments] |
How do I draw customers/followers to an opening? How do I get initial sales? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:30 PM PST I've been experimenting with the Instagram promotion feature, narrowing down a target audience, seeing which posts draw people in. The buisness is skincare, just a simple line of a face oil, body oil, and exfoliator. I spend most of my time in nature, so my plan was to photograph the products in different places I explore in order to build up an Instagram page. I'd like to do some sort of promotion or contest for the launch, but I'm lost on what order to do this in, and which method to use. I would like to do a promoted post drawing people to follow the page. I'd like to do a first 50/100 people to follow will be entered for a Giveaway/receive a free gift with purchase/receive a coupon. I'm not sure where to find information on which would work best, or if this is even the way to go about it. I also am not sure if I should wait to build up the page before I do this. There's a few nice pictures and I'm about to add some with the first official labels, but I'm not sure if this is enough to get people to stay. Any recommendation on where I can get this information? I don't have a lot of money but would be willing to pay for a consultation/info package of some sort if it's reputable. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Help Needed: Best Platform for Online Events Posted: 03 Nov 2020 02:04 PM PST Hello fellow business owners! I am looking for a platform that allows me to have an online event. We all know Zoom but I'm sure there is something better out there for my purposes. I need something that will allow me to have a market place where users can go into individual "booths" and have a separate experience. Similar to breakout rooms but driven by the user. I want the attendees to be able to visit a marketplace before having the main event. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Profit First tax question for single-member LLC Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:10 AM PST In the process of setting up the Profit First system for a small, single-member LLC and the last piece of the puzzle is figuring out what % to allocate to the tax account. Previously, Id just determine the taxable income for that period and set aside 30% for the quarterly payments. What Im confused about is why PF suggests 10-15% - where does the difference come in? Do I still set aside 30% from my owner's pay? Even 15% of gross doesn't equal 30% of taxable for me and I'd prefer not to be stuck with a big tax bill come April. I feel like I'm missing something? Looking for Grants for my start up Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:39 PM PST I just started my apparel business in August/ September of this year and I'm trying to find grants that I can get for my business. My biggest concern is googling it and wasting time on a source that's not legitimate. Or having some weird fraud thing happen. (i dunno I'm an anxious person.) I have found info that there's grants for business ideas, that you don't have to have a well established business already and that there are lots of grants for women owned and minority owned businesses. I fall into all of the above categories. Any links to sites where I can apply for grants would be appreciated as well as any advice. I know building a business is hard but I'm trying my best to stay positive about it and work hard. I really want to make this work this time around. I'm also in the United States if that helps. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
