I am a StateFarm employee at an agency and my boss is refusing to pay me.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 02:21 PM PDT

I have been here 10 months and my agent has never told me how to collect my commission so i have not been paid from commission since.... Probably ever.... But I enjoyed the job (not him) enough to stay remote during co-vid. Flash to Mon. He tells me I have been selling alot so he wants to finally pay me for commission. Unfortunately i am the only licensed* associate in the office other than him at the moment due to my co-workers quitting. He tells me to make an excel sheet with my commission and email that and my time card to him. He also told me i had to do it on my own time and we get paid Friday so i better get to it. Yesterday was really busy so i didn't have time to figure out how to make a correct sheet soi waited until the end of the day to begin. He leaves 10 minutes early... That's strange he never leaves early but he did yesterday. That's okay when I'm finished with the commission he will just put it in as always right? Wrong. He tells me today that he only put me in for 30 hours yesterday (i worked 70 and that he might allow me to collect my commission that i haven't received since Feb. I rely upon on my paychecks and it's the end of the month for rent. He said he'll "put it on my next check" but 2 weeks of work is dumbed down to 15 hours per week. He is stealing from my money and time. What can I do?

    DUI driver hit parked cars

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 09:58 AM PDT

Last night a driver who was under the influence crashed into my parked car and then caused my car to hit my moms truck parked in front of mine. The entire left rear of my car is gone and the front of my car is squished in. My car is destroyed. I'm hoping the driver has insurance because she claimed she did, but in an event that she does not, what actions can I take? Both her car and my car are totaled. She was under the influence. I barely switched to Safeway Insurance this month so I have not had any experience with them. Any suggestions? I'm 22. I've never been in an accident so this is my first one and it wasn't even my fault. Edit: also forgot to mention I only have liability and I live in California

What does liability on a trailer cover?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 08:09 PM PDT

If someone is towing a flat deck trailer with liability hauling someone else's recreation vehicle (ie dirtbike), and there is damage to the recreation vehicle, would the liability insurance cover the damage to the other persons recreation vehicle?

New patient visit before I can schedule my annual physical

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 11:27 PM PDT

Hello all! I'm trying to find a new primary care provider so I can have my annual physical done. The doctor that I called said I had to go in for a new patient visit before I can schedule my physical. Is this the norm? I was hoping to only have to come in once, but now it seems like I have to go back for the actual physical. Insurance wise, I assume they won't cover the new patient visit? Anyone have any experience with this?

Should I enroll in this insurance policy?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 10:52 PM PDT

I got a letter in the mail. I'm 23 and I know absolutely nothing about insurance. As far as I can tell, the insurance is paid for completely by my bank. What should I be looking for in this letter? To make a more informed decision for myself? Here is the letter, and I would appreciate some general advice too if you don't have time to look at the specifics of the letter :)

As of October 16, 2020, you've yet to accept and name a beneficiary for your $2,000 no-cost TruStage Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance made available to you by Navy Federal Financial Group.

Again it costs you absolutely nothing- only a few minutes of your time - to get $2,000 of isurance. Simply complete the short enrollment form and mail it in th enclosed, postage-paid envelope.

If you choose, additional AD&D insurance is available starting at $1.00 per month for each $10,000 of coverage. Just select the amount of insurance you want and write in your account number to enjoy the convenience of automatic payments.

Last interview for a Progressive Claims Adjuster Trainee on Friday. Looking for additional info about that job.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 08:55 AM PDT

Assuming I receive an offer (here's to hoping), what can I expect from this position? Is this a full-time desk job handling the technical side of several claims- or are you able to be out in the field examining vehicles/properties/etc or would this be considered a move "up" from being a entry level claims adjuster?

I have researched endlessly and it seems like I'm coming up with conflicting info. Any advice is appreciated :)

hit by drunk driver, car totaled, but no out-of-pocket expenses. next steps?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 10:05 PM PDT

Help! I do not have a lawyer; uncertain how to proceed. I am in Washington state. The same insurance company represents both sides.

I was hit by a drunk driver in the summer of 2019. Police arrived; took him off in cuffs. I have the police report; he is at fault. My car was totaled. my son was hurt/stunned by the impact; He went to the chiropractor a handful of times and ultimately he was fine. I went to the chiropractor for 9 months off/on. I experienced painful back issues immediately after accident, but only moderate back pain thereafter. I still experience some moderate back pain. I stopped going when COVID set in.

They have called all along asking if i am done seeing the chiropractor, i have said no. They recently left me a voicemal asserting that the 'claim has been closed'. Early on, I allowed the insurance company to interview me and my son on the record. They recently asked me to release my medical records and I have not done that yet. I've been clear that while my back pain is present, its not debilitating and I've continued to work. Dr always asked pain 1-10, and its been usually a 5-7.

I missed a few days of work after the accident, had a ton of hassle getting my car settlement, and had the on-going moderate back pain. However, I have had virtually no out-of-pocket expenses at this point.

I just want to know how to responsibly handle this; what am i owed, and how do i got about getting it? Lawyer v. not. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Making the jump

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 09:56 PM PDT

I am seeking any advice or input at all. I am a type 1 diabetic in northern California and use an insulin pump and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). I have had Kaiser all my life- first through my mother as she worked for Kaiser, then through my previous employer, and now for the last few months I have been paying about $550/month through COBRA to keep that insurance from that previous employer.

My new employer, Davey Resource Group, has offered me a plan through Blue Cross/Blue Shield which I will have to take eventually (once I get booted off time-limited COBRA), so I am thinking I might as well do it at the end of this year when I am next eligible to hop on board.

However, I am very scared to do so. There are essentially two options for me to choose between, but I understand very little of what either really means. But I fear that no mater which one I choose, the costs of my dear medical equipment will skyrocket.

A specific question- would it be okay to bring in all the pertinent paperwork to an insurance agent so they could help me discern what the costs could be? It seems like when I ask questions of corporate about specific medical issues they are unable to advise me.

Thank you very much for reading.

    Geico Employee Health Insurance

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 09:32 PM PDT

I am in the final stages of the hiring process with GEICO for the Management Development Program in claims in the midwest region. I am curious if anyone can tell me what health insurance premiums are for whole family (wife and kids)... I really like the job I'm at, and wanna make sure I'm making a good move. The job I'm at charges me over half my check to cover my family and there's no room for advancement for the foreseeable future. Any info is appreciated!

My car is totaled. What now?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 04:08 PM PDT

Hey all, this afternoon I got into a car accident and the other driver was deemed at fault from minutes after the collision. Police claimed it, other driver claimed it, and my insurance is aware of it.

Because of this blatant disregard for other's safety and the potential impact on my life that this will have, I want to pursue the max extent of compensation. I'm not trying to sue, I don't have malicious intent, but I want to ensure that I can be comfortably compensated.

I have talked to State Farm about my coverage and shortly thereafter, they deemed it as totaled.

I do not have rental car coverage and I have no means of transportation to the tow yard to release my car and gather my belongings, but State Farm is claiming they need it released before they can do the final evaluation and total loss compensation.

So far, I have done the following:

    • Researched other vehicles of the same make/model to compare the market value of it and have that information prepared for my conversation with total loss agent tomorrow.
    • Briefly read about compensation options, particularly regarding the other driver's insurance:
      • Loss of use claim: Helps cover my rental I think? Idk
      • Deductible claim: Covers my deductible for my collision coverage
      • Inconvenience claim: Essentially opening a claim for my injury/injuries (they are minimal at the moment) that remains open until I've returned to my baseline

Will I be seeing an increase in my insurance rates or anything? This was completely not my fault, is there any way to dispute this if it does come up?

I know that I basically wrote a book, but this is my first real accident and I just need some advice. I am more than willing to read sources and do my own research, just please point me in the right direction or tell me what to look for.

    Thank you :)

    Edit: This is in Illinois.

    Full coverage

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 06:00 PM PDT

Hey guys, so my car has a very pricey engine problem (head gasket). It is not worth fixing, and I have been planning on getting rid of the car. I will be driving my back up in the mean time. The problem is, I'm still paying the car off. I will complete the car payments as expected, but I would like to stop paying full coverage since that is even more pricey than the car note itself. Will that be allowed by my financing company? What would happen if I just went ahead and canceled full coverage without speaking to the lien holder first? The car will not be driven, can not be driven even if I wanted to, and I'm located in Georgia.

    Dui Accident injury

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 11:09 AM PDT

To keep it short, A friend and I were parked on the side of the road at our friends legally with the hazards on unloading clothes for him. A drunk driver hit the car speeding and both of us on the side of my brake light. My friend has his own lawyer, and I have my own. My injuries according to the scan was a grade 1 spondylothesis, military neck, failed all the reflex tests and bad very bad bruising, minor cuts. My car bounced of the rock wall and the trunk hit me to the point i bent the trunk in badly. My main question is, i just finished therapy after 4 half months. Do I need to do anything at this point? and how does a settlement like this work? Considering the drunk driver said my friend and i were standing in the middle of the road but was proved false with dash cam..I'm not here for to get rich, I just want reasonable estimate as I'm worried my medical bills I might have to pay?

Should I drop my Globe Life policy?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 03:47 PM PDT

    22F

My mom opened a policy for me when I was 14 with Globe Life. I took over the payments when she passed because why not and I really knew nothing about insurance. Now that I read more about it though, I guess Globe Life is not a good insurer?

Anyways, it renews every year which I thought that meant it was term life insurance but when I look at the policy it says that it is a whole life policy.

Just curious, should I keep the plan? Not sure what to look for to indicate whether I'm getting a good deal or not. Annually it costs about $150 if that is of any relevance. I know if I drop the policy and get one later in life it would be more expensive but does that matter? Also, the cash value by the time I reach 65 according to the policy is 10k which seems pretty low but again not sure how to rate/value life insurance.

If I should drop it are there any recommendations for what I should get, if I should even get anything at my age?

    Any insight is appreciated!

Getting OFF parents health care plan

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 12:00 PM PDT

My friend is now 22 and wants to get off their parents health insurance plan. Their job does not offer insurance and they want to go on marketplace to find a new plan. They want to do this to hopefully get coverage more suitable for their income level to get a needed surgery but mainly to escape the control of an abusive parent. Is there any way to cancel insurance? The parent is using their insurance as a way to control my friend and force conversation, and is refusing to give medical mail to them. Is there any legal way around this? The ACA won't allow him to get new coverage without a lapse in his current insurance. Thanks! (Location- NC, USA)

How much MedPay should I choose?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 09:34 AM PDT

Currently I have USAA auto insurance with 2k MedPay coverage. I am in TN.

My health insurance is BCBS with a $0 deductible and relatively low copays. Max OOP per year is 11k for the family.

To increase from 2k to 100k MedPay would cost an additional $4.62 a month.

I am still not sure whether it would be worth it though, since my health insurance is so good.

Pothole caused over $4000 in damage

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 03:30 PM PDT

So this is a long shot, i know, but over a month ago i hit a pothole and it did some major damage to my car. I took it to the repair shop and the first bill was lower than my deductible so i just paid, when i drove away i still noticed problems, took it back, they charged me a grand total on $1700 for their repairs and it still wasn't fixed. They recommended i go to a dealer. Dealer quoted another $1600 and the part they need is on backorder but said the car should be safe to drive until it arrives which should be any day now.

Here's the longshot question, can I still file a claim with insurance after i've paid for these repairs and am planning to pay for another one? I live right by the pothole and can still get good photos. It happened when it was dark and raining and i never imagined it would be this expensive to fix. I can afford it without going through insurance, but if there's a chance they'd still cover it i may look into filing a claim. I've also been to their repair shop before for another claim and they were horrible to work with which is why i avoided them in the beginning.

For reference I am in Iowa and have Geico.

    Thanks!

    Dog insurance question

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 02:10 PM PDT

Hi, I'm new to pet insurance and want to enrol my 3 years old dog. My dilemma right now is that I took my dog to an emergency vet one time because she was acting weird (yelps if you try to touch her, hiding under tables, no interest in play). The vet did a "consult and examination" which revealed nothing out of the ordinary to the naked eye, but wrote that it could be something that we can't see like spinal disc injury, etc but I refused further testing and opted to monitor. Lo and behold as soon as we got home the dog is fine.. little faker. My question is, if I don't disclose this emergency vet visit, will the insurance company find out if down the line they do an inquiry? How do insurance companies find out about your pet history ?

How do I legally go about moving to a new state and starting my own Auto Policy (currently on mom's policy)?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 01:22 PM PDT

Hello everyone! My apologies if the title is confusing. I'm moving from Virginia to Colorado in December and will need to apply for my own car insurance as I'm right now covered under my mom's insurance for as long as I live with her. I'm planning on going with Progressive and am right now insured under Geico.

I know that I need to surrender my Virginia plates before I remove myself from my mom's policy, but I can't do that until I move to Colorado, so I can get a new driver's license and register my vehicle. Meanwhile, should I go ahead and insure my vehicle through Progressive under my name in the state of Colorado?

This is all new territory and I don't have many people I can ask IRL so I sincerely appreciate any assistance. Just want to make sure I'm going about this the right way.

    Life Insurance Q from a Total N00b

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 12:56 PM PDT

    Hey there,

I'm looking into life insurance for the first time and as a relatively healthy 30-something in NYC, I'm understanding that term life insurance is the best way to go. Im considering getting 30 year coverage and SelectQuote tells me that William Penn/Legal & General America is the lowest cost. I have no idea of SelectQuote or William Penn is any good. Hoping someone might be able to tell me if either of these are reliable!

    Thanks!
