Euro Pacific Bank - Peter Schiff Banked Known Criminals, Tax Probe Claims

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 01:17 AM PDT

Do you guys consider Euro Pacific Bank as an alternative bank for your business? IF so, I would reconsider my options if I were you, this bank is soon past story, not sure if someone of you have read about it already, but I fall over the story here https://www.offshorecorptalk.com/threads/euro-pacific-bank-peter-schiff-banked-known-criminals-tax-probe-claims.30808/ it's insane what this bank is doing, for me it looks like they really don't care what business they take on here. They just need customers.

Hilarious reading and the interview with Peter Shiff is pore fun.

How to track orders placed against a prepaid balance?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:50 PM PDT

What is a good way to track orders placed against a prepaid credit balance?

I have customers who prepay a lump sum as a credit balance and place orders against that credit balance until it runs out. Only the initial lump sum is recorded in my accounting system and I use a bunch of spreadsheets to track what they order and how much credit they each have left.

This method takes me a lot of time and is really error prone from all the copy-pasting.

How do other companies deal with this? I'm sure I'm not the only one.

In the western aesthetic world, what kind of art is hung in the home by ordinary families?

We know that the world is beautiful, and our homes need to be beautiful, and I don't know what that is, but I have to say that we seem to be obsessed with print lately, and who CARES about hand-painted art? What choices should we make?

How profitable would an arcade be?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 10:53 PM PDT

First of all, let's say my area eases up on covid rules a bit more (I say this because the crane games at the mall are operational again)

So I've been having the idea of starting up an arcade in the mall. Let's say it's small with about 5 games (depending on price) that cost $1 per game. I have connections to people who run businesses, but none of them run anything even close to an arcade.

How do I fire my client?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 03:31 PM PDT

I've been working with a client for quite some time now, and he's constantly thrown threats of legal action (which have no basis as clearly stated on the contract) and will once in a while very loudly voice his opinions towards us when we have nothing to do with it.

Long sorry short - my team doesn't deserve this. I'm looking for a professional way to let this customer know that when the contract expires, we're done with him.

Anyone ever dealt with something like this?

    Need Advice

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:19 PM PDT

I have had plans to start a business, but have absolutely zero business experience. I also don't know the market and all I receive are negative statements towards my idea, which is fine, but a lot of those opinions seem biased. My business is building "designer" custom built PCs. (Similar to DigitalStorm, Maingear, etc.)

My question is: is this a business I should pursue, what advice could I possibly receive, and are the margins worth it? All help is appreciated, thank you.

In the earliest stages of potentially considering starting my own microgreens business and I've got some questions

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 04:25 PM PDT

Ok i was in class a few weeks ago, horticulture major, and we had just collected and weighed our microgreens. We figured out how much we could sell them for and i was like "wow thats a lot of money". So now I might potentially try and start my own business eventually.

If I can't find my dream job, why not make my dream job!

Of course I'm really just thinking and day dreaming about it but rather than dream of how cool and successful I will be, I want to think practical and how hard it will be. I am not as worried about it failing in the sense that I won't be able to sell anything. I live in Charleston SC, we've got tourists and expensive restaurants downtown and in Summerville. Ill get customers. But...

    1. How does this even work? Where do i begin? Facebook i guess. Then call around to the restaurants and ask "hey I got greens, ya want?"

    2. What does it look like working wise? Do I get any days off or any relax time? Like ok I know ill be going a good time. Plant, clean, grow, harvest, sell. But would I have the ability to ever take a day off? To anyone who's ever started their own business, in the beginning, did you have any down time? No i don't expect like 24/7 work work work but like how does this happen? Like I guess I can set limits on my work days. I am my own boss after all. Start time end time chill time. Does chill time happen though or am I still constantly crunching numbers instead of crunching chips?

    3. How do i make an expenses excel sheet. Ok so I have inventory and its costs. I have materials used. Soil, wafer, electricity for the lighting. Then I have profit. Is there something I'm missing?

And yes I'm reading some of the books on where to get started but only just started reading them. This is like when your watching Gordon Ramsey scream at stupid restaurant owners and your like "yeah my restaurant would be way better!" Even though that would never happen. Its like your fantasy restaurant or fantasy tv/movie you star in.

This is only an idea but something I want to think seriously about.

    Thanks in advance!

Feasibility/long term relevancy of a travel center

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 07:55 PM PDT

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I was wondering what y'all's opinions on the idea of opening a travel center. I running my own travel center type of place would be something I'd truly love doing but the more I think about it, the more I see the transition to electric cars as a major threat to the feasibility of it succeeding. My vision is a place catering to both professional truckers and everyday travelers, with a gas station, convenience store, bakery/restaurant, showers, clean bathroom, etc. It's a business I see with a lot of opportunity for expansion, for example a hotel or on site mechanic. I've researched a little bit & understand that the gas aspect is not very profitable, it's more of what attracts customers who will then spend money on the convenience store part that drives revenue. This brings me to my main fear: cars going all electric and eliminating the need to stop for gas. Is this a plausible threat to this type of business? If so, when kind of timeline do you think? More like in the next 10 years or more like 75? If the need for gas is eliminated will this type of travel center/rest stop concept be eliminated? Is the transition to all electric even very likely to happen in out lifetime or am I overthinking it? All thoughts & opinions are appreciated!

Need your advice and opinion on a project

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 07:00 PM PDT

    Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

I am a student in my first year of college and in our marketing classes, our teacher gave us a project about helping a local business. My team's goal is to find ways to increase funds for a local library through things like donations. I need help and advice on how to go through this project. I went through google and searched and did get some results but I feel like it is not enough. So you people of Reddit are my last hope to perfect this project.

Here is the information about the library: Problem Statement

The City provides a minimum level of funding to keep the library running, but not enough to allow us to offer the full range of services people have come to expect of a vibrant 21st-century community library.

We face a marketing challenge in that people assume that we are just another municipal service. We want to let them know that we are an institution that depends very much on community support and find ways to reach out and ask for their support.

This August an ad-hoc fundraising committee from the library board met to begin looking at how to do this. Here is the summary of that meeting:

    Purpose:

Recognizing that the City is unlikely to fund the library at a level that would truly allow us to offer the full range of library services, we need to explore ways to diversify the library's sources of revenue and to seek out additional funding from organizations and individuals alike.

    Fundraising Campaign(s)

    • We need to find ways to reach the entire community, including those who use the library and those who don't.
    • Explore the feasibility of an annual fundraising drive sent by mail to either all library members or all residents of Lennoxville. The latter would have the side benefit of making the library known to those who don't use it.
    • In addition to this, explore the feasibility of a separate campaign targeting local businesses
    • Questions: could we include this in a municipal mailing?

Here is what I have found so far and need advice if it is a possible answer:

    • Renting out your conference room to small business owners with no conference room or people that want to film a video for their business. We could reach these people by contacting small business owners and giving them a deal.
    • End of Year Appeal letter to your library supporters since during special events, people want to give more than usual.
    • Identifying your current donors and try to reach the same kind of people by making a survey.
    • We have a cafe-restaurant near the library. Could try to partner up with them.

For now, that's all I have found. Thank you for your help in advance.

Contractor Dispute Resolution (I hope this is the right place)?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 06:46 PM PDT

I hope this is the right place to post.

My friend has a dispute with a contractor.

A local business agreed to re-cement and replace a set of outside stairs of a house for $15K.

On a rainy day, leaks appeared in the basement a week later due to a flawed job.

    What should they do?

    I suggested these options:

    1. Request a total re-do involving tearing down all the work, costing the builder about $15K; send via email to avoid "doubletalk" since they claim there is no problem (doubtful they will do that).
    2. Demand a $5K refund, and require with a partial repair with a detailed agreement; go to small claims court if they refuse.
    3. Avoid working them altogether; hire with someone else; go to small claims court immediately for $5K.
    4. Allow them to do other jobs as a $5K "credit" as payment for the failed job.

    Some more specific details:

    • No sloping of the cement to avoid pooling of water.
    • No proper water baffling.
    • No repairing a cement patch at the base of the stairs, although this was requested.
    • No up-to-date insurance or license by the contractor on the city's website.
    • No detailed agreement.
    • No guarantee.

They, of course, want to do the simplest solution, which involves caulking.

Any thoughts or tips are appreciated!

    Thanks

How Would A Person Prevent This Situation From Happening?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 03:51 PM PDT

I keep thinking how much it would suck, to have a business partner. We both create a company together and then one comes up with some great stuff. But somehow is fired by said business partner. Then business partner reepes all the benefits.

My main questions is there a way of preventing this by 100%? If 100% option isn't available what would lesson this? Lastly, how is this even possible? Sorry, I'm ignorant about these type of things and don't mind someone informing me.

    https://youtu.be/p8N0xN0ihMA

TLDR of video; Basically Noah Glass was the original creator of twitter, but was fired; right before the company was going to take off.

Sidenote; I heard Steve Jobs was fired from Apple, but later came back. But I'm more focused on Noah Glass situation.

    Importing beverage goods into USA?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 01:03 PM PDT

    Hello,

Can I ask if some of you know the procedure of importing a beverage goods inside USA? Will I be better off with USA company and which administration gives out the licenses for import, because for sure I will need to provide lab certificates about what the beverage is containing as well as proper labels and so on?

If any of you has advice on how can I import it from Europe I would appreciate it. Currently we sell on the local market.
