Michael Jordan joins DraftKings as Special Advisor to the Board Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:12 AM PDT Will have equity interest in the company in exchange for providing guidance and strategic advice. [link] [comments] |
Anyone going to buy more NVIDIA after recent release? Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:04 PM PDT I've made good gains from Nvidia this year. I was thinking the price is really high already before today's new release. This new graphics card is a literal game-changer. It's going for 500-ish and its performance is on par with the previous-generation 2000 dollar graphic card. I am thinking abt buy more Nvidia tmr. I want to hear what everyone thinks. Let's have a fun chat. [link] [comments] |
Tesla's largest outside shareholder cuts holding, citing portfolio restrictions on surging stock Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:08 AM PDT Baillie Gifford, Tesla's largest outside shareholder, has reduced its position in the electric auto maker after the company's rapid share appreciation made it an outsized influence on the firm's holdings. A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday showed that the U.K.-based fund group now owns less than 5% of Tesla, down from 6.32%, according to data from FactSet. "We intend to remain significant shareholders for many years ahead. We remain very optimistic about the future of the company," Baillie Gifford's James Anderson said. Shares of Tesla were down 7% during early trading on Wednesday. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 03:56 AM PDT I've been 80% cash since COVID because I'm a pussy. During this past month I've switched over to 50% cash. I'm honestly thinking about just dumping what I have left of cash into either QQQ or ARKK and riding it out (I know, let the the fomo comments roll). The expected events that I foresee (elections, delay in vaccine etc.) shouldn't affect the kind of markets I'm heavily invested in either way since its mostly Tech and Consumer Cyc. What are you guys doing, still holding a large cash position or all in? [link] [comments] |
Upcoming IPO, which excites you the most? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 06:32 AM PDT Examples are Snowflake Airbnb Amwell Corsair gaming Unity My bet is on snowflake, incredible results. Second-quarter revenue was up121% to $133 million. Revenue grew 174% for fiscal 2020, hitting $264.7 million. Airbnb may be a longer-term bet with COVID hitting them especially hard with revenue from $1 Billion to $335 million. But they have delayed their IPO. If only there's a way to get in now when it's low. I think the travel industry will definitely be back, the question is when and how long. Which one do you think would be the biggest and why [link] [comments] |
Private payrolls rose by 428,000 in August, coming short of expected 1.17 million Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:51 PM PDT Green today even with the news. It's becoming more apparent that the economy has in fact stalled( like the FED) has been saying. [link] [comments] |
Intel is undervalued on every level $INTC Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:29 AM PDT It seems to be that on every metric compared to other chip manufacturers, Intel $INTC is way over sold and undervalued. The market is not baking into account the chips are actually quite profitable with a steady baseline business. I understand the delay in the 7nm chip, but this is a company with a brand, with a profitable business line and with ambitions in a growing chip market. Personally, I would love to understand other bull / bear cases. I think this could be the next meme stock. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 11:47 AM PDT Who's holding through earnings? I'm at $18 with 120 shares Hopefully this thing smashes earnings and 🚀🚀. ......Trying to fill up this post so it doesn't kick it off for low effort....... [link] [comments] |
Resources for studying a company and its stocks Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:12 PM PDT Hi All, Just wanted to ask if there's any other resources you can recommend when it comes to studying a company and its stocks. At the moment, I am only relying on Yahoo finance, CNN money, and marketwatch, but I was hoping if there's any other websites that can possibly provide more data and information than the list mentioned. Also, for Yahoo Finance, does anyone actually consider the stock rating and stock recommendations data when buying/selling a stock? What information do you consider the most when it comes to making a decision on buying/selling? Many thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 03:17 PM PDT https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/02/health/cdc-covid-19-vaccine-distribution/index.html As title reads^ Just curious on the different takes for playing a vaccine scenario. [link] [comments] |
Name some universally loved stocks / companies that failed spectacularly Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:36 AM PDT We always hear people in the financial industry / media talking about stocks to buy and hold forever, that will always make money, that you can pass on to your kids and set them up for life, etc (Apple, Walmart, Disney spring to mind)... But what are some stocks in the past that were universally loved and recommended by analysts, believed to be long term "can't miss" prospects, that everyone was dead wrong about? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:46 PM PDT Today I purchased calls for apple. At the end of the market the premium just dipped for no reason from .94 to .74. Any particular reason for that. The price did not move drastically. Is this what you call an IV crush ? [link] [comments] |
Favorite mid cap and small cap stock value picks that could in the next 10 years? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:28 AM PDT Trying to diversify more and looking to do some more research in some mid and small cap stocks for this decade. What are your picks and why? [link] [comments] |
What did you buy today and why? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 02:54 PM PDT Hey guys, just looking for some convos here and a general idea of what everyone picked up today. Not trying to pick apart your reasoning just curious [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 02:44 PM PDT I've been banned from r/investing because I don't subscribe to the doomsday fire and brimstone apocalyptic scenarios that are ever on the horizon and that sub. But one of the more specific points I made, while everyone in that sub was entirely sure that we were entering the Great Depression 2.0, was that their doomsday scions such as Raol Pal were absolute hacks that had gotten lucky enough with one or two trades to make a 'career' out of it. As CV was gearing up, he called for another collapse of the dollar and, more importantly, the lost generation in US equities. It's amazing how someone who's called for such a phenomenon for over twenty years can keep sticking to their story. When will people wake up and realize that the fake money gold bug debt crisis hacks that recurring recall for these tragedies like a broken clock that somehow is never right will continue to never be right, and the stock market will continue to always go up, and, more importantly that these hacks are just profiting off of peoples fear. So many incredibly profitable investing strategies are immediately disregarded by the hacks over in r/investing because of this fear that is monetized packaged and sold like an investment course. I told people over and over and over and over again that this would not be the great depression, that we were technologically beyond such catastrophes, and that the US stock market would not plummet 90% and stay there for years. Why in the hell do we still listen to these people. It has been shown time and again how incredibly wrong they are in a exploitatively at that. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:42 AM PDT Better also invest in an astronaut suit if you invest in FE cause this one is about to go to the moon. The run up to its $36 price target has begun. Its at 29 now... [link] [comments] |
What's so special about CrowdStrike? What puts them ahead of other endpoint securities? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 09:18 AM PDT I always thought end point security is really trendy. But it seems like everyone is jumping on the CrowdStrike bandwagon as far as investing goes. It's like they think this is the be-all to endpoint security. But they don't even do Firewalls? I tried to watch some of their product demos, and I just don't know what puts them above other endpoint securities like Malwarebytes, Fireeye or the dozen others? I think it's a really competitive sector, but feel I am missing something. Please enlighten me. I do know that CNBC and Fool is pumping them up pretty good. [link] [comments] |
Is Norwegian (NCLH) free money at this point? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:40 PM PDT Norwegian (NCLH) has come out and said they've got enough cash to be fine until late 2021 with ZERO revenue. With that being said, vaccine research is making strides and a second stimulus check is being heavily discussed again. Either a second stim check for everybody and/or positive vaccine news will send it soaring. What bad news could even come out in the short term? Knowing bankruptcy is off the table until late 2021, and they're currently generating zero revenue, it's tough to see how things could get worse short term. Seems like a no brainer, if you believe a vaccine will be approved and widely distributed between now and early/mid 2021. What do you guys think? Am I missing something? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 09:41 AM PDT TSLA related but not just TSLA. Long story short: On 13th of July I bought one share of TSLA at it's highest - $1718 (Yes I joined hype a bit late and deposited $1800 into my brokerage account) Immediately it fell to about $1400 (Literally within hours) I decided to just hold it, it was money I was willing to gamble/lose so I held it. I told myself: "100% Once it reaches $1720 I am selling it to break even" As split was brewing and it got closed to 31st of August - It overshot my $1720 target, so I decided to gamble again and hold - now telling myself "I will make just a bit of profit and sell!" Today I finally pulled the plug and sold it (early in morning before it dropped), total profit is about $600. I feel a bit down as I feel I will eventually lose out on some big gain but at the same time I am happy I recovered from initial loss and even made profit. This is my biggest issue (not just with stocks), I like to overhold waiting for "what if" happens. Guess it's just gambling excitement? How do you deal with this? Do you set specific price targets? SPY and VIX going in the same direction. Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:17 AM PDT This has been happening several times over the last week. What the heck, what gives? What are your interpretations of this and what are your moves with your money? I have some VXX calls right now, but I'm thinking about going cash soon. [link] [comments] |
What to do when the Correction happens? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 03:14 PM PDT Does it make more sense to HOLD all positions and wait for a rebound ... OR .. set stop losses take your money off the table (not at a loss though) and re-enter new positions once things look to have hit bottom? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:12 AM PDT Right before the crash I pulled out $150k from the market for a house payment. The Seller pulled the house from the market before I could sign a contract... Things just got sort of crazy. Anyway, I'm still looking for a new house but my Realtor says it could take 4-6 months to find something I'm looking for. In the meantime should I put this $150k into a Fund/ETF ? I know it's pretty short term, but I feel like I'm burning cash everyday it sits in my Checking Account. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
