Three top Apple suppliers to commit $900 million to India smartphone incentive plan: sources Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:41 AM PDT https://finance.yahoo.com/news/three-top-apple-suppliers-commit-115632437.html It is unclear whether all of the investment will be targeted at boosting manufacturing of Apple devices in India, but the sources and industry insiders said the vast majority would be focused on expanding iPhone manufacturing in the country. The commitments would help Apple diversify its supply chain beyond China, which is locked in a trade war with the United States. "India is key to Apple's global ambitions as it expands beyond China," said Tarun Pathak, an associate director at tech researcher Counterpoint. "It offers a strategic market to them where skilled labour is cheaper as compared to other manufacturing destinations, the size of the internal market is huge and the export potential is enormous." Here is a Market Recap for today, Monday, September 28, 2020 Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:22 PM PDT PsychoMarket Recap - Monday, September 28, 2020 Stocks jumped today as the major indices looked to recuperate some of their losses from the past weeks. Global equities also jumped after China reported strong industrial profit figures. The financials, industrials and materials sectors led gains in the S&P 500, though all 11 major sectors were positive on the day. Big Tech shares jumped, recovering some of the decline from the past weeks. The Nasdaq (QQQ) led, finishing 2.08% up, the S&P 500 (SPY) finished 1.68% up and the Dow (DIA) finished the day 1.56% up. Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the United States as more states reopen and loosen restrictions put in place earlier in the year. According to data from John Hopkins, the US recorded 55,759 new cases on Friday, the highest single day total in about a month. Forty states and territories have seen an increase over the last two weeks as of Saturday, just days after the U.S. logged its 7 millionth confirmed coronavirus case. Wyoming was the nation's new hot spot with a 128 percent jump in new cases followed by Utah (111 percent), Wisconsin (104 percent) and Colorado (97 percent), based on data compiled by NBC. Gov Tony Evers declared a public health emergency in Wisconsin in response to the uptick. Dr. Fauci, the US' leading infectious disease expert and leader in fighting the virus, said "We [the US] are not in a good place. There are states that are starting to show an uptick in cases and even some increases in hospitalization in some states." He added that the average of 40,000 new cases per day is "unacceptably high" and that he would like to see it below 10,000. This morning China reported a 19.1% surge in industrial profits in August, marking the fourth straight month of sustained recovery. The report raised hopes that the slump in the global economy this year may not be as bad as originally feared, as the country first hit by the pandemic continues to recover. Hopes for the passage of additional stimulus was raised after Pelosi told CNN that democrats would soon unveil a new $2.4 trillion proposal, roughly $1 trillion less than their initial proposal but a figure still higher than the reported $1.5 trillion figure that the Trump administration has signaled it will accept. In response Pelosi said, "At some point, the public is going to have to see why $2.2 or now $2.4 trillion dollars is necessary. The president's denial of the virus and just resistance to doing anything to crush it has made matters worse ... So we may need more money than that. And we will reveal what that is in a short period of time." Treasury Secretary Mnuchin added that he and Pelosi have agreed to restart talks to try to work out a deal. On Sunday, President Trump officially nominated Amy Coney Barret to the Supreme Court to replace Former Justice Ginsburg's seat. Republicans hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate, suggesting they could move quickly to confirm her before the November election, despite the cry of Democratic lawmakers. Highlights

Tesla: still a buy or overvalued hype? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:33 PM PDT Elon's recent explanation of how they plan to keep growing and with a market cap of 400BN, this sees reasonable. He announced the plan to vertically integrate some of its battery production. This integration, along with innovation in cell design and battery pack manufacturing, would help vehicle battery pack costs come down sharply over time. They're by far the furthest ahead in their sector and have many more things planned, so anyone else trying to catch up will be left in Tesla's wake quite quickly due to their brand notoriety, customer satisfaction, sound knowledge of the industry and seemingly the pioneers in the EV sector. I may be being fanatical and incredibly overly optimistic though. Tesla will eventually crash, it's just a matter of time. But I think it could have a decent few years of growth to go still before this happens. Am I delusional... is this wishful thinking? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:00 PM PDT Negotiations August, but now Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he and Pelosi have agreed to restart talks. The chamber could vote on the bill as soon as next week. The legislation will include unemployment benefits, direct payments to Americans, Paycheck Protection Program small business loans and aid for airlines. Pelosi, facing growing pressure from moderate Democrats, has tried to convince Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to increase the administration's $1.3 trillion offer by an additional $1 trillion. However, Mnuchin signaled earlier this month that the administration would not approve a plan that was larger than $1.5 trillion. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/27/pelosi-believes-coronavirus-relief-deal-still-possible.html [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:09 AM PDT Shareholders in special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Tortoise Acquisition Corp. vote Monday morning on whether to make startup electric drivetrain maker Hyliion Inc. a public company worth more than $7.2 billion. If the vote, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. EDT passes as expected, the ticker symbol HYLN would replace SHLL on the New York Stock Exchange. Hyliion would be renamed Hyliion Holdings Corp. Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:22 PM PDT Okay so we all know about the QQQ for the Nasdaq 100 The TQQQ for the leveraged version. And the extremely risky SQQQ for those mighty and sometimes insanely stupid bears amongst us hah Are there some leveraged etfs for the SPY or other S&P 500 funds? Both bull side like TQQQ and for the shorts SQQQ? What about the DOW same question. I would be curious to see what are the most popular for those different plays. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:44 PM PDT WMT has been lagging behind on this run up, basically trading flat. There's several things going on right now or in the near future which could give it a leg up: a TikTok deal, pretty much any stimulus, and holiday sales. They're also testing drone deliveries of covid tests, which could provide lucrative government contracts. Obviously these could all fall through, probably less so for holiday sales, but they could end up sucking. Regardless, it still seems like a good entry point for a long-term hold. [link] [comments] |
What’s an entry point for gold or silver? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:00 PM PDT What would be classed as a reasonable buy price for gold ? I'm presuming it's going to decline over the coming months, especially around the US election. Should I wait and buy after the election? Or will it continue to decline for a while yet? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:49 PM PDT I purchased aud/usd stocks before I slept and woke up to $850 profit, I have no idea how but I had purchased $200,000 worth of stocks with leverage somehow when I only had $3000 equity I just switched to my demo account to test and figure it out and I've found out I can get unlimited leverage! What would be your ‘no brainer’ stocks to buy in this volatile market? Discuss! Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:07 PM PDT Hi all! The market is in a really weird place at the moment. Stocks readjusted but now seem to be booming again. Especially highly volatile tech stocks which often would be seen as overvalued. Now in the volatile and unpredictable market of today; which stocks would you buy in a 5-stock portfolio and why? I'd love to hear several opinions and inputs! [link] [comments] |
Has India run its course with regards to being a country of interest to investors ? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:02 PM PDT Seen some articles online about India being past its hay day & investors should start looking elsewhere.... I'd this actually true though? I've also seen that Verizon have plans to become a new cellphone provider out there, so it should still hold some promise as a country. But there's warning of a looming depression that should be a cause for concern. [link] [comments] |
Should i keep my real estate stocks? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:05 PM PDT Im still new at this so im asking you pros to tell me if i should keep my real-estate stocks or if i should sell them and invest somewhere else and why. Thanks for the help [link] [comments] |

My family are against me investing since I have no expertise or experience, should I do it anyway? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:51 PM PDT I'm 22 and eager to start a portfolio, preferably 80% ETFs and 20% stocks, since I feel I need to learn how to analyse companies properly before expanding my stocks portfolio. For the past couple months I've read about trading, fundamental analysis, the current economic climate etc for a few hours daily to really immerse myself in it all. I'd like to choose a couple of ETFs that show growth over its lifetime and preferably hold majority sectors in tech, health care and utilities since I feel those will fair the best over the next coming years. I want it as a longterm investment strategy, especially since here in the Uk Banks have given the go ahead for negative interest rates... meaning keeping my money in the bank doing nothing isn't even earning the measly 0.01% interest it has been. Should I go ahead and 'ignore' seemingly good willed advice from my family or listen to their guidance? P.S. My uncle is a finically advisor for a highly profitable investment firm and also advised against investing atm due to market uncertainty. I don't know whether I'd be stupid to ignore his advice? Looking to add a couple dividend plays to my portfolio Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:17 AM PDT Looking to add 2-3 dividend plays to a long term portfolio. Already holding some appl and KO. Been looking into RTX, MO. T, ABBV (or open to any other suggestions). [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Sep 2020 08:29 PM PDT Okay so for Index Funds we all know the SPY. Some of us bet it some of us just long term invest in a Vanguard/IShare/Fidelity S&P Index. We have the QQQ for those of us that know that tech is the future and strangely now the gold currency of the market in tough times. We have the GLD and SLV for Gold and Silver when those are nice and low in safe times to buy in or play runs when turbulent. What other Index Funds are must knows and why? And any of you prefer or play the VTSAX versus the standard S&P Index Funds and if so why? I have always been curious on the selling feature of this one. Anyway I look forward to hearing more from people more knowledgeable than myself about the different plays in this realm and how you approach it all. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:51 AM PDT As far as I can tell I at the very least understand the basics of analyzing stocks, no need to go into that aspect further in this post; what im wondering is, how do traders estimate their price target ranges? Entry points? So far I have rather been buying when I felt that the near future is going to prove good and it works pretty well so far, but I wonder how one would set their targets anyway. I guess the pure technical way - buying at recognizable support lines, considering to sell if there is nothing special happening at resistance lines, or variations of that, but, tell me how you do it, if you do it, and feel you're doing it in a more reliable or more detailed way, as I have barely a clue.
