Buffett Continues Record Pace of Share Repurchases in Q3 Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:58 AM PDT Share counts at the bottom of page 1 on Berkshire Hathaway's 10Q forms for Q1 and Q2 indicate that Buffett bought back almost $8 billion in shares between April 23rd and July 30th. This is far greater than the $5.1 billion reported for Q2. This means that repurchases in July alone were over $2 billion. Shares outstanding as of April 23: Class A — 692,885 Class B — 1,390,707,370 Market cap using August 7th Friday's close: $509.1 billion Shares outstanding as of July 30: Class A — 657,906 Class B — 1,401,356,454 Market cap using August 7th Friday's close: $500.4 billion Edit: Thanks to u/secretfinaccount I figured out the exact amount of the July repurchases: $2.7 billion! Is Spirit Airlines a good investment? Posted: 08 Aug 2020 03:08 PM PDT I have done hours and hours of research on the airline industry and I am coming away with the conclusion that Spirit Airlines is the best stock to invest in, at the moment, that I am aware of. Not only does it have one of the best balance sheets for the sector, the lowest and still down-trending CASM (ex. fuel), highest and most stable revenue growth, commendable net margin, flies almost exclusively domestic, doesn't rely on business travel, yet it's somehow been hit the hardest stock-price-wise. I see a fairly clear opportunity to 2-3x my money in 1-3 years, depending on COVID and air travel recovery pace. Am I missing anything? Why are other airlines (such as Delta and American) being suggested much more often as a buy, even though they have terrible balance sheets and miserable long-term prospects? And before you say "you should buy Southwest", I'd just like to note that the days when Southwest was a low-cost carrier are over. Their CASM is through the roof. Also, the potential recovery-wise is only about 65% maximum. Is there anything you'd like to add? Anything that I am getting wrong? Thank you ahead for any tips and suggestions. [link] [comments] |
