Does Gen Z not know how to search? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:25 PM PDT I am generally supportive about helping new comers. However, every day the same set of questions are asked by folks who are new to investing. These questions are answered literally every day over and over again. Does Gen Z not know how to search subreddit history? Barrage of downvotes commences in 1 2 3 ..... [link] [comments] |
MSFT looking to purchase all of Tick Tock, not just US section. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 08:42 AM PDT Reports are circulating that Microsoft is looking to purchase Tick Tock outright. Is this really a good business move on their part? Could we really see a buy the hype sell the news with MSFT? I mean I know MSFT is typically seen as one of the safest plays and a solid long term hold but is the expectation that this news could shoot it past say 220 with the possibility of a large crash if the deal turns out to be way overpaid or MSFT gets in over their heads trying to run it? Curious on everyone's stance with this. [link] [comments] |
Rocket Companies (RKT) IPO just launched. Shares starting out at $18. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 08:30 AM PDT I am pretty excited about this one. RKT is now available for trading as of moments ago. $18 was a bit lower than their estimate, but have already reported highs of up to $19.50 and lows of $17.50. Edit: Moving around $21 range. Edit: Closed at $21.51 (+3.51, +19.50%) to all of you wanting to swing this stock on opening day, congrats! To all of those who are holding short to long term, good luck out there! I am currently holding this for a bit myself as I anticipate we continue to see an increase, with the exception of possible variations between index and sellers who hit short targets. Also, thanks for the gold you animals. [link] [comments] |

$ATVI Breaking news: COD moblie finally approved in China after prolonged waiting time. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 06:41 AM PDT COD Moblie is finally approved in China! It's been a year since their partner Tencent applied for COD Mobile's license, it's really hard to get licensing for video games in China since the licensing rules reform. Think about that crappy PUBG Moblie has almost 30m players in China, this approval is likely gonna bring at least 30M new players for COD francise, thats almost the same as the Bllizzard's whole MAU base. BTW, I am super bullish that Diablo Mobile(coming this year) and D4 are gonna add tremendous amount of players to Blizzard's MAU base (Blizzard's lagging MAU is probably the reason ATVI was down yesterday). So their future looks bright to me. Source: There's no English news report yet since the Chinese gov just annouced it, heres the chinese link: https://inews.hket.com/article/2717152/%E3%80%90%E9%87%8D%E7%A3%85%E6%89%8B%E9%81%8A%E3%80%91%E9%A8%B0%E8%A8%8A%E3%80%8A%E4%BD%BF%E5%91%BD%E5%8F%AC%E5%96%9A%E6%89%8B%E9%81%8A%E3%80%8B%E3%80%81%E7%B6%B2%E6%98%93%E3%80%8A%E5%93%88 [link] [comments] |
MGM Rolls out "Work From Vegas" Concept Posted: 06 Aug 2020 09:32 AM PDT Interesting, and quite creative. Not sure if it will work, though. If they are doing this, they (and other vegas casinos/hotels) might want to also think about discounted long term rates for their rooms (i.e. ppl living from hotels). Would be a way to generate revenue, and use unused rooms. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/mgm-resorts-rolls-ultimate-vegas-133000808.html [link] [comments] |
Microsoft aiming to buy all of TikTok Posted: 06 Aug 2020 08:39 AM PDT Microsoft's TikTok takeover plans extend to the entire business, the Financial Times reports. That includes not only the U.S. operations previously discussed, but also the video app's operations in India and Europe, according to the report. [link] [comments] |
TikTok reliance causes plunge in Fastly shares after massive Covid-era rally Posted: 06 Aug 2020 06:55 AM PDT Fastly CEO Joshua Bixby said late Wednesday that TikTok is the company's largest customer, accounting for 12% of revenue in the first half of 2020. Shares of Fastly plunged after the disclosure, on concern that the company is exposed should the Trump Administration ban TikTok. Fastly's stock has been a standout performer this year, benefiting from the transition to remote work. Down 20% [link] [comments] |
UAL director liquidates entire holdings at loss Posted: 06 Aug 2020 07:41 AM PDT His purchase price average in 2019 for a fairly large acquisition of shares was almost 90 bucks/share. At disposal the price was just over 30 bucks/share. Thoughts? - doesn't look good and doesn't seem to be a scheduled disposal. United have declined to respond to further requests for information on this from the press; not the most reassuring response if it was just an innocuous disposal. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:12 AM PDT My last post on $OTRK was removed by the mods, but I definitely think this stock is worth a discussion. As the r/stocks sub is all about sharing ideas, I felt that this company was worth a mention given everything that's happened this week with other companies in the space ($LVGO and $TDOC) $OTRK's financial highlights from Q2 2020 ER:
If you recall, $LVGO was one of the other telehealth/digital companies posting +XXX% growth in revenue YoY. It seems like OTRK's growth is following a similar trajectory. Definitely worth keeping an eye on this one for the coming quarters. EDIT1: For those of you that didn't believe my last post that I have skin in the game: https://imgur.com/AxZjsyL I bought 10 contracts for the Feb. 2021 calls about a month ago that have netted me over +$18,000 in profit. EDIT2: OTRK is up +43% today (8/6/2020) [link] [comments] |
MarketWatch - Most Bearish Site Ever Posted: 06 Aug 2020 05:07 AM PDT Every story there is about how the market is bubble. Comment section overrun by bears who say everything is overpriced. Is it just because people are bitter because they sold in March and didn't get back in? Or don't understand that a lot of stocks have actually benefited from the virus? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Aug 2020 01:19 PM PDT I'm mainly active on Twitter, but I lurk on some subs here mainly as a harbinger of when an idea is becoming mainstream. I'm noticing that people are often asking the same question on this sub over and over again. It's tiring for a lot of people because that's honestly not what this sub is meant for. I would urge those posting to just scroll BEFORE posting and check if anyone else has posted your question already or something that can answer what you're wondering. Personally, I think mods should be more strict about this because it seriously lowers the quality of what this sub could achieve. [link] [comments] |
UBER Shares slide as ridership fails to recover due to the pandemic Posted: 06 Aug 2020 01:21 PM PDT UBER shares are in, while beating expectations by 15% at $-.73 EPS, the stock still slides. The ride hauling company reported that the future outlook of ridership hasn't been ramping up and they don't know how long it will take until the ridership is back to pre covid levels The ceo has reported in former earnings reports that profitability will be in the next year, with covid that appears to not be the case Thoughts on future outlook of UBER & their stock after these not so fortunate earnings. Fastly (FSLY) Now Down About 20% From Yesterday, Worth Entering or Waiting? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:29 AM PDT I woke up to see it crashing down almost 20% as of the time I'm writing this, would you guys say it's worth it too buy now or is this a sign of a potential crash and correction, given how expensive most tech stocks have been lately, that may be worth waiting? [link] [comments] |
If I work for Microsoft, could I be flagged for insider trading if I trade QQQ? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:48 PM PDT Curious as to what the laws of insider trading says in these scenarios? Is there a certain % of the company the ETF must have at max to be able to trade legally? [link] [comments] |
Cash on sidelines - invest now or wait? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 07:15 AM PDT I have some cash sitting on the sidelines - about $220K. How should I get that back in the market? I liquidated some stock before the March crash but missed the bottom and with the new daily highs, I can't shake off the feeling that I'd be buying when the stock is costliest. Ideas? [link] [comments] |
Is Plug Power (PLUG) a buy right now? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 09:09 AM PDT The stock is up 157% in the last three months, from $4.22 in May to about $11.30 now. It seems that as electric vehicles become more widely available and other companies turn to renewable energy, this stock will only further grow. So is this a good company to buy right now? Or is it too high? [link] [comments] |

Sturm, Ruger & Co - High Dividend Stock for next week Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:25 PM PDT $RGR dividends next week. 5.42$ per share you will receive. Special dividends. Insanely high returns. https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/rgr/dividend-history It's usually 20-30 cents per share. But for some reason its $5.42/share for next week's ex-dividends date. QQQ vs owning individual stock? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 09:36 AM PDT So I have several shares of $QQQ in my portfolio, along with 20% of my portfolio being $MSFT, for the longest time I've always wanted to take a position in Apple but never have. Would it make sense invest in Apple even though have QQQ? Or should I sell them and buy some Apple shares? Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
Should you invest in BigC? BigC vs Shopify Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:15 AM PDT For those thinking about BigC, I hope this post can give you a head start into your personal DD before you make a decision. First, I will point out that there is a huge gap in their current valuation, but BigC got into the game 5 years later. Still, BigC has grown year after year, and the timing of BigC's IPO fits the current preference towards online retail. I'll leave the rest of the finances research to you. The big question is, can they stand up to Shopify? My belief is yes. The two companies are very similar in their services. However, they have clear differences that should attract a difference niche of clients. This means BigC can eat into Shopify's clients but also be profitable on their own. What are some of these differences? Shopify is certainly more streamlined and easier to navigate. It's targetted towards people who want to prop up a quick store and make sales asap. They charge monthly rates of three tiers 20s, 80s, 270s(?) and depending on your subscription you'll have more access to their technicals. They take a commission PER sale and they also charge higher credit card fees. BigC has pretty much the same monthly rates for their subscription fees. However, they offer more technicals and they provide a faster service. So, if you're a bigger business that needs to make 500 coding changes overnight, BigC will do that at a much faster pace than Shopify. They charge much less commission per sale, and they charge smaller credit card fees. Their main source of income is that they cap their subscription tiers. So as your business grows, you'll automatically be upgraded to the 80s or 270s monthly tier. Given these differences, Shopify and BigC will both have an overlap within the small businesses realm depending on how the small business sees the prospects of their growth. If the small business is tentative about sales and or has a retail store propped up but just wants an online presence, shopify makes sense for them. But if the small business is optimistic about growth and wants to start online, they might want a more interactive website where they don't get charged a commission PER sale. The big area where BigC can stand on its own is with big businesses. It's nothing for big businesses to pay 270 a month. And they absolutely don't want to pay a commission per sale because they'll likely sell a crap ton of inventory per month. BigC also provides more technicals to fit the big players' needs. I hope this was helpful! Do your own research to supplement this post. Good luck all! [link] [comments] |
Look for TSLA to follow AAPL on stock split Posted: 06 Aug 2020 09:32 AM PDT Who says stock splits don't matter? AMZN and $AAPL both beat big a week ago, but AAPL announced a 4:1 stock split and AMZN didn't. Since 7/30 2Q print: AMZN +4.7% AAPL +16.1% Research shows that companies that split their stocks perform bette than the market by 8% after one year, and 12% after three years. Reasons: 1/ Signals management's confidence that future earnings and dividends will grow 2/ Broadens shareholder base 3/ Calls attention to company's past success I believe TSLA will follow AAPL's lead and announce 10:1 or 15:1 split at Sept 22 Annual Meeting [link] [comments] |
