About to purchase business with SBA loan from retiring owner with my business partner. Need help on a few things

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 03:58 PM PDT

My future business partner and myself started at the bottom and have been working for the company for about 8 years each. Now I'm the general manager and he is the head of sales so we have a ton of sweat equity into the business. Owner is 77 years old and wanting to retire, he offers the company to us for one hell of a deal. We get in touch with a banker and retain an attorney. Credit check is great, down payment secured, business plan and 3 year projections done, LOI signed by all parties, working on operating agreement and purchase agreement at the moment.

My business partner has more collateral than myself. He owns a home and I rent, so we are about 100k apart on the collateral side. Another thing the SBA requires is life insurance on the business partners, in case one dies, ect... Another thing is that I am unable to get life insurance, which isn't a problem because my business partner can get it. My business partner and I will just have an ironclad operating agreement so if I do die or whatever then he won't be stuck without the funds to purchase my half.

Here's the questions, how can we make it fair to each other since he's got more skin in the game? We still want to be 50/50, could I just save up the difference in collateral and put it in a company bank account in case we default or something crazy? Should we divvy up monthly distributions to where he gets more than myself until X amount is met? Has anyone come across an issue like this and how was it handled?

Question to business owners and economists. How much of the economy runs on late or non-payment ?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:33 PM PDT

How much loss do businesses need to factor as a result of willful delinquency and how does that scale with business size relative to the cost of the service. I'm an architect. My business involves high dollar people or entities who buy buildings. By definition my clients typically have a higher net worth than I do. But ability to pay is evidently in inverse relation to promptness. By the time a client pays, most or all banks consider the account delinquent. I cannot borrow against most accounts because most pay between 90 and infinity days from an invoice. My very best accounts are people who are in the same economic bracket as the rest of the service sector. How does the economy run in this reality ? How much of high value individuals wealth is actually just due to the fact that they expect you to starve before they will ?

Help Me Create a Free database for Business Owners!

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:24 PM PDT

    LINK TO 3 QUESTION MINI-SURVEY - https://forms.gle/Tz3KXt1DXXUzEHA97

We all know that it can be hard to start a business on our own, and some of the early challenges I and many others faced while starting a business include logo design, branding, and more.

When creating a business, most people don't think, "I can't wait to spend 10 hours researching the best website builder that fits my budget", but often times that turns out to be the case.

My goal is to create a website/database of free online resources for small businesses to help with branding, graphic design, and more. I'm calling on all of you to fill out a quick, 3 question mini-survey I created, and I'd also really appreciate any feedback!

I promise make all the information I collect free to the public, and I'm also planning to add an optional "Contributors" section where I can thank every person who has contributed to the website I hope to build (again, not for profit).

Any feedback is gladly appreciated, and the more people that contribute the better!

Again, link to the form: https://forms.gle/Tz3KXt1DXXUzEHA97

Lastly, do not worry about if someone has already added the resource to the website, you should still put it in and leave a review if you can!

What's a fair commission charge for this?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 02:48 PM PDT

So basically some business owners know that I do Uber eats and I have a Fair understanding of technology and they don't

They asked me if I could set the restaurant online

    I did it

Now I have to periodically change it, add items, delete items, tune up their menu

For the past 3 days I have been going back-and-forth with uber eats support to finally have their restaurants online, 7 emails and 5 phone calls

So I'm thinking to myself how much should I charge them for this, maybe 0.5% of their sales? If they sell $2000 worth of food I get $10

They obviously have to handle all their business expenses and I just have to click around on my phone, they're not too bright tbh

Solution for knowing if people have looked at your messages through their notifications. Feedback would be appreciated.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 01:00 PM PDT

Don't you hate it when people see your message through their notifications but they don't respond back. It sucks even more that you don't know. With this app idea that problem would be solved.

The idea is an app that is a plug in into your messaging service (messaging app, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram DMs, etc) where you can see if somebody read your message through their notifications.

It would only be activated if the recipient of the message's phone was already turned on when the message came through. In a way it would be similar to the spark app (which allows you to see if somebody has seen your email).

Feedback would be appreciated. Thank you for reading!

How long does it usually take for companies, businesses, and inc (incorporated businesses) to respond to an email (a request/question) Will they email me or will they ignore if they refuse my request/question? I've sent an official request. So it has to be read by employees.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 12:44 PM PDT

I don't know if this is the right sub, but it's about business so I think I can post this question as it relates to business.

I sent an email (request) to Quora moderators. It's an official email (request) and moderators has to read it. How long does it usually take for companies, businesses, and inc (incorporated businesses) to respond to an emails? I've been waiting for hours and I am losing my patience! I know I'm not the only one who would send emails to them, but I want to know when they will respond to my email so I can focus on other things.

Sharing a thinking-doing matrix that helped me schedule every 30 minutes of my day, stress free

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:44 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I created this matrix because I wanted more productivity but I didn't want to feel overwhelmed by it. I'll write it out, and visual/explanation is linked. Let me know if you'd consider using something like this for yourself

On the left hand side we have Thinking from low to high and on the bottom we have doing from low to high. What this does is create 4 quadrants. Strategize: this is high thinking and low doing Create: this is high thinking and high doing Consume: this is low thinking and low doing Habits: this is low thinking and high doing

My goal was to maximize create and positive habits while minimizing consume. I also wanted to make sure I wasn't over strategizing and avoiding creation.

Could you see yourself using this model to schedule your calendar?

I made a video if you are interested

Can charities spend money on living expenses?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 06:16 AM PDT

I'm considering starting a charity which will have me travelling across the globe and staying in different countries. I'm planning on using AirBnB and Uber quite a bit for stays and transportation. I'm curious - would it be permissible to use the charity's money for expenses like the flight to the location, the AirBnB stays there, Uber to get around, food, and hiring data entry clerks?
