Is franchising a decent option for getting my foot in the world of business?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 08:27 PM PDT

    Hi all

I think we can all agree that franchising is generally seen as below average, which I am quite confused with, because I know there are many franchise businesses that are performing very well.

I am considering stepping into the world of business, and was wondering if franchising is not a bad way to get my feet wet. I have seen some people recommend, that, if you have no business experience, franchising could be considered.

So, what are your thoughts about franchising for someone wanting to get his feet wet in the world of business? Furthermore, what type? Some say restaurant franchising is super hard work, as opposed to,say, gym franchising etc.

    Thanks all

What is your “million dollar” story?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 11:35 PM PDT

This a hypothetical mainly inspired by trumps "1 million dollar loan" and I know a million isn't what it used to be, but I also wondered how you guys would spend 1 million if you had it?

Or if you are a millionaire what's your story?

Another reason is just that fascination with wealth you get thanks for any replies, as far as I know this is in line with the rules but I'm not certain.

How to approach a big business as a student?

    Posted: 24 Aug 2020 02:40 AM PDT

I am currently looking for a business to contact to do my school assignment on for business which requires mainly primary information. Is there a way for a student to contact medium-large companies about conducting an interview to gain information as most companies don't give out their emails unless it's for their products? This would be really helpful thanks!

How would a beginner get his feet wet in the world of business?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 10:01 PM PDT

I am very confused about this. It feels like all businesses are risky, which is understandable. But then....what is a beginner supposed to do? Everyone has to start somewhere.

I thought franchising was not a bad option for beginners because the brand name is already established, you have a network of support, you have training etc. But then people have been saying franchising is not really for beginners.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere, and if I want to start getting my feet wet in business, what must I do?

Advice for someone who wants to create a buissness with business administration associates degree.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 09:47 PM PDT

So I'm almost done with school this upcoming semster and getting my associates in business administration. We didn't have JUST a business degree (from my understanding it gets more specific in University as to what part of business you want your degree in). I want to get a higher paying job right out of college so I can get started on saving.

My end goal is to create my own business, but I am not sure if I should save for my bachelor's degree to gain more knowledge and get a better paying job to start my business or to just read books and save with the job I get with my associates. My question is what is the best course of action to take? And what career I should get with an associate's if creating a successful business is my ultimate goal.

Is my official work title important? or am I being petty

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 04:10 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I'm had many titles over the years in Marketing

    Community Manager

    Marketing Manager

    Influence Relations Manager

    and so on...

I just got a new position recently and they are aware of my previous titles and pay rates... Should I be pissed that they gave me the official title of "Marketing Assistant"? Should I Advocate for a different title? Why is this important? Am I being petty for being mad at this lol

    Thanks in advance

How to ask for a raise 3 months into a job

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 04:18 PM PDT

I started a marketing position 3 months ago where we agreed on a certain amount of work for a certain amount of pay...

Well, three month in the work has increased by a lot and my pay hasn't... How/when do I advocate for a pay raise or find leverage for it. Also, I found out from co workers that our boss is pretty cheap

    Thanks

I just want to say first of all and just want more help on this topic i want to talk about, granted i am not a business major in college and university but just have a curious mind and passion about learning all that i can in life. The question want to pose is about business ethics on liking your business page on social media, commenting on your posts and reviewing your own business on google reviews. I would like to know if its ethical to do so and just overall opinion about it. I would really much like to learn about this.

How can I learn how to analyze a potential business idea?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 08:37 AM PDT

    Hi Business Subreddit

I don't own my own my own business, but I'd like to.

If I play my cards right, I may get access to a significant low interest loan. I'm in no rush to pick a business and jump in. I am currently comfortable with a job in the family business. I don't plan on staying in it forever and make very little money, but its enough.

I'd like to take my time and mastermind a business plan. I'm interested in being able to help people, while also being profitable. I'm currently researching, in-home senior health care, the funeral and cemetery industry, and agriculture. Also, I was recently offered to buy landscaping/garden store business.

My question to you all is the following, "What online classes can I take that might help me analyze various business plans for profitability?"

Clearly, "Business Analysis" isn't the answer. Also, I've taken a few accounting classes, but also feel as though they werent helpful in this endeavor.

My goal is literally to learn how to analyze business ideas in an effort to pick one.

I feel relatively vulnerable putting this out there, but does anyone have any kind of direction for me?

    Thanks in advance!
