    I Quit Today

Feels so fucking good. As I was completing my last work-related task - putting PBC's on the server - it was as if the entire weight of the world was leaving my body.

It sucked. Had a solid review a few months ago. The weekly feedback I was give was positive, so I had no reason to believe I was on the chopping block. I wish the company nothing but success and good fortune but jeez this blows.

My internship salary is $65,000 and I was just wondering if that would go up when I started full time or if it would be the same?

Any CPA/CMA here with a PMP?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 06:00 PM PDT

I'm involved in a lot of projects working for a F100 and I already have a MBA, CPA, CMA, and another certification I'd rather not mention here because it will be easy to dox me.

Do you guys think I should get the PMP? For anyone with a CPA or CMA, how hard was the PMP exam compared to any of the CPA/CMA sections. I am familiar with Prometric testing since I've taken 6 exams there each being 4 hours.

Another question: how do you record PDUs if you listen to free webcasts for the PDU hours? For my CPA, I have to have CPE certificates as proof in case I get audited by the state for the 40 hours per year CPE requirement. Is the renewal process for PMP pretty lax?

Edit: Down-votes and hate responses for asking a professional career question. What's happening with this sub.

    CPA License State

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:17 PM PDT

Does it matter what state your license is in if you're just working for a firm? I live right on the border of two states and could end up working in either.

So I made the mistake of accepting a tentative offer too quickly. Now I want to rescind because I don't want to work during this pandemic.

    FAR not-for-profit question help?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:54 PM PDT

Hey all, I missed this question on my FAR mock :

Potterville Charities is staging its annual fund raising appeal. The organization views this as a major ongoing activity that serves to fund the mission of the organization. In exchange for a $500 donation, contributors receive a hand embossed flowerpot valued at $15. Potterville Charities will recognize contributions for each such donation in the amount of:

    A. $0

    B. $15

    C. $485

    D. $500

"Choice "4" is correct. Potterville Charities would display the contribution revenue of $500 gross and display the $15 as fund raising expense."

I selected C, I thought contribution was the difference between consideration received and the fair value of the item, like like this question:

A not-for-profit organization receives $150 from a donor. The donor receives two tickets to a theater show and an acknowledgment in the theater program. The tickets have a fair market value of $100. What amount is recorded as contribution revenue?

    $0

    $ 50

    $100

    $150

Correct answer is B, difference of the FV of the item and the consideration received

    Any ideas? thanks

Diversity at Non-Big 4 Firms (BDO, GT, etc)

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:52 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the pride initiatives or multicultural initiatives at some of the mid market public accounting firms.

Are they pretty strong at most offices, or is it something that doesn't get a lot of attention?

When is calculating the turnover of accounts receivable irrelevant? [Quick Question]

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:41 PM PDT

When is calculating the turnover of accounts receivable irrelevant? [Quick Question]

So my accounting textbook has the following statement which explains how calculating turnover of accounts receivable could be irrelevant.

    https://preview.redd.it/spb27sbifhi51.png?width=1458&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0876ebb54ca84795b3fcbf56a071451c1bf99b9

However, I am still not sure when to calculate and when to not calculate accounts receivable. So could someone explain when it is irrelevant to calculate it?

I am not very good at accounting so you will have to explain it like you are talking to a five-year-old.

    thanks

How would someone that’s self employed get experience for CPA?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 05:55 PM PDT

So I'm in Vancouver and one of requirements for the CPA here are having 30 months of experience.

How would someone that's currently self employed get that 30 months of experience. Would they have to put the business on hold and work under someone?
