The five largest stocks now account for 20% of the S&P 500 market cap, exceeding the 18% concentration level reached during the dot-com bubble.

The stock market has been propped up by a handful of mega-cap companies leading into the coronavirus pandemic.

Historically, such narrow breadth is a poor signal for future market returns, Goldman Sachs said.

I made a better automatic stock tracker, I hope you like it

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 08:46 AM PDT

Hi everyone, you may remember me from my first spreadsheet, since then, I have been creating a better version of the stock tracker. it now has more things on the watchlist tab and now also has a transaction tab, where you will be able to get gains/losses and other helpful features.

In order to use the spreadsheet, go to File > Make Copy. This will allow you to edit the copy of the spreadsheet and use it. Both tabs can be found in the lower part of the screen and can be accessed by just clicking/tapping on them.

To track any US stocks, just enter the ticker in the watchlist tab under the "Enter ticker" cell. For the transactions tab, just enter the required information under the corresponding cells and all of the other cells will auto populate.

If you want to add more rows, right click on the spreadsheet and click on add row, then select the last row and drag it.

Please close the main document after creating a copy of it, because traffic on the document can prevent other users from creating their copy.

Some cells may take a while to load

Here is the new spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rQMCe4ODeYrYUHIxcPIIS2Q0axTkCuK6YimX20Y6N8c/edit?usp=sharing

If you would like to support my work here is my paypal (Donating is not required to use the spreadsheet, but it supports me): paypal.me/mau2509

I hope i can help you all with this new versions and I will try to support Canadian stocks on the next version.

Thank you for reading and stay safe

    NKLA Holders, question

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:34 AM PDT

I don't know everyone's position but some talk would be nice.

Bought in around the 70$ range a few shares, hate to mention the exact amount. With the constant drop, is it a hold for when NKLA actually has a physical functional product on the market, or a sell for the loss?

Best growth stocks to buy now?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 01:34 AM PDT

I've been trying to search for some good growth stocks to invest in. I keep getting lost in all the different tech stocks, many of which seem wildly over valued to me (SHOP, TSLA, SQ, etc). Anyone got any tips on some good growth stocks?

    LRN (free public school online)

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:52 AM PDT

Check out LRN (online public school) as a Covid play. A close friend of mine just took a job with them and enrollment in her small Montgomery, AL district has gone from 600 last year to well over a 1000. In the next month these numbers will be public.

I made a portfolio tracker spreadsheet that automatically sends email alerts on portfolio % changes, tracks portfolio values live and records asset values for graphs and analysis.

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:26 PM PDT

    What does it do?

    1. Displays live portfolio information such as share prices, day change, month change, holding period and weight in portfolio using Google Finance.
    2. Automatically sends email alerts when the portfolio reaches a certain level of gain/loss in a day e.g. if the portfolio gains 1% today, an email will be sent that looks like this.
    3. Automatically records asset values to create graphs displaying portfolio value over time, portfolio weight breakdowns and for use in analysis of returns with sharpe ratio, standard deviation and best/worst months.

    Here is the Portfolio Tracker.

    Here are the instructions.

The spreadsheet contains example assets and data to generate graphs and analysis.

The spreadsheet is made in Google Sheets so you need a Google account to use it properly.

    (TSX) $FOOD.ca - DD Followup

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 06:27 AM PDT

    Hello fellows,

Here's a quick followup on the DD i did on FOOD.ca (TSX) about 2 months ago.

When i put out this DD the stock was priced at 4,03$ (you can check my post history if you'd like a general DD). Since then the stock has steadily climbed 30%, last friday it closed at 5.57 (5.76 peak during the day).

    _

    Premise for the lazies:

They announced they will release their Q3 earnings before opening on Wednesday, July 8. I honestly expect crazy numbers.

    _

    Followup DD:

    DATA Analysis:

I wanted to find out how much they increased their subscriber count before they released their earnings. So i thought to myself, every subscriber must go on the website weekly to make their meals choices, there must be a way to see how much traffic a certain website gets...

I browsed online and I found out there are websites that actually analyses/monitors network traffic of certain websites. Some of them: SimilarWeb, Alexa, SEMRush, etc… So i registered for a free trial on SimilarWeb and here's what i found out.

I could not only see the current flow of people going throught their website but also, litteraly, charts of traffic flow from the past months/year. There was so much more information but here's my summary:

I found out that when they released their Q2 earnings they had 750,000 people visiting weekly. They said they had around 250,000 active subscribers. Now if you look at the charts today they have over 1,250,000 weekly visitors, which might translate to lets say roughly 350,000-375,000 active subscribers, which is a 50% increase of subscribers in a single quarter, that is monstruous growth.

You can also see their competitors traffic flow and bounce rate. Bounce rate is the % of people entering and exiting their website without buying anything.

Goodfood now has more traffic than their competitors and the lowest bounce rate amongst all of his competitors which actually means when a potential customer land on their site they are more likely to buy compared to their competitors.

    _

Also one of the things that will boost the Q3 earnings is the fact that the employees wages are 75% off because of the Canadian Government CEWS (Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy), that's approximately 20M CAD windfall on tax filing.

    _

They say put your money where your mouth is, well shit, i decided to try their service and no kidding im hooked.

    _

So to wrap it up, they announced they will release their Q3 earnings before opening on Wednesday, July 8. I honestly expect crazy numbers.

    Cheers to yall

Feds and governments around the globe tried to save the stock market and economy instead they created a dangerous monstrosity

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:54 AM PDT

    It is kind of ironic.

Feds and governments around the globe tried to save the stock market and economy. They wanted save people's savings and rich people's assets.
    This was march.

Instead, they have helped the bubble grow and be the biggest bubble we have had. This bubble is larger than the dotcom bubble. The economy has the worst recession, worse than the great depression.

People were upset that politicians in the US sold their stocks before they made the severity of the crisis public back in march. Feds and governments around the globe gave us another chance, let us pull out early just like the politicians. But instead we are pumping money into the market like crazy. The feds pumped too much money which didnt let the stock market recover but instead made it an even more dangerous monstrosity.

    Microsoft valuation

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 08:00 AM PDT

I was looking into buying Microsoft Stock and it's currently sitting at an ATH. I like that they have big upside with their cloud service and would like to buy and hold long term but not sure of the entry price at an ATH. Should I buy now because time in market is better than trying to time the market?

What happens to options after an all stock acquisition?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:06 AM PDT

Let's say a startup just got acquired via an all-stock acquisition, with a 1:1 stock ratio for the purchase. Let's say it sold for 5 billion, and it had 1 billion in funding.

How would liquidation preference play into this? If an employee had 10,000 options, with no liquidation preference, it would then have 10,000 shares of the new company's stock. However, does the 1 billion investor funding come into play somehow?

Just curious to know if there are redditors investing in Chinese market (TCHEY, BIDU, WB ..) for short term / long term play ? What are your picks ?

    NOKIA STOCK

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 05:46 AM PDT

Bought a large amount of NOK when it was around €3.8. Currently at €4.08 and steadily rising. With all the 5G contracts they secured there is potential for this rise to continue.

Debating if I should invest more now or wait for another small dip. Anyone else watching NOK?
