    Old Videos Resurfacing

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 07:44 AM PDT

I graduated college and starting at an accounting firm soon. My freshman/soph years, I partied a lot and was a big user of Snapchat.

After reading about the Harvard student losing her internship over the video, I am kicking myself. There are videos of me drinking/drugs, doing stupid things, etc. There are no videos circulating the internet, just stored away on phones/memories of friends. I am worried that this videos could be leaked and I can get my job offer rescinded/fired after I start.

I realize my mistakes. I have been sober for months and I do not allow myself to be in those positions anymore. I know it is my fault for not being responsible years ago, but what can I do now and how can I move forward? Incredibly upset at myself, as this has been eating away at me. If I lose my job, it's my fault and no one else is to blame.

what's a good entry level job for someone who wants to go into accounting

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 03:55 PM PDT

Im interested in accounting but I'm wondering If there are any similar jobs that don't require a degree and that would look good on my future resume. Are there any data collecting type jobs out there for high school graduates that could lead me into the world of accounting.

    Core 1 Exam

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 08:14 PM PDT

I just wrote the core 1 on July 3rd. I checked my answers (I highly avoid doing this if you wrote the exam) and Im laughing at my answers. This was a rigged exam. I feel like Knotia not loading put me in an intense time pressure and I rushed my impacts.

    B4 Canada

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 02:11 PM PDT

I just saw a post asking why Big 4? Tiring hours for little pay. The responses were for US so I'd like to hear from Canadians who have real numbers to back it up (we make a lot less).

I'm interested in hearing if paying your dues were actually worth it, if it's as much hell as it's portrayed on here (because again I always forget most people are talking USA stories) and if exiting into better opportunities is as sure fire as people make it seem. I do enjoy accounting and it's harder to find Canadian stories so I'd love to hear if y'all think it's worth it. (And maybe salary progression first 5 years?)

Is the CPA Uniform Exam AI driven?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:28 PM PDT

I'm not sure if anyone has the actual answer to this, but I was curious after reading over a bunch of redditors who've taken the exam and have become curious about whether or not the exam is AI driven in some aspect.

If the exam gets harder then that typically means you're on the right track

How could anyone tell if it's getting harder!? A seemingly simple 1 line question can make me question my very existence and whether or not I even graduated with an Accounting degree.

As you answer questions, does the exam comprehend that you're missing a certain type of question, for example dilutive and anti dilutive effects of options, and then just jam those questions down your throat?

Or is the exam entirely randomized and pure chance as to the topics they cover?

    TLDR:

Does the exam know you don't understand a topic and hyper focus on it?

I hear a major part of getting a big 4 job is good communication skills and personality. I feel like I'm very awkward and not very good at communicating. I'm in college rn.
