Washington state- are any of you forcefully closed today due to a strike or care to give me advice?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:28 PM PDT

I support the BLM movement and my employees know this. I was not aware of today's state wide silent march and strike until I was informed yesterday that almost all of my employees were striking today. I had previously agreed to let anyone who wanted to take a half day today to participate in the protest. I've made private donations and participated in protests myself alongside my employees.

Not a single person asked us to close today or donate financially (as a business) but they've made several demands.

This was so out of left field. My head is still spinning. Is this happening to anyone else? I feel like this wasn't the point of the "strike" and I can't find any instance of BLM calling on people to formally strike at their jobs.

I think this could have been done differently.

Please, help me with my bakery name I am stuck?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 12:03 AM PDT

    Hi Guys,

I really need some help with bakery names to stand out in the crowd

High end bakery/desserts will be the focus - a classy name that is short and can grow into a brand.

    Would love any suggestions? :)

    Thanks in advance

    UK Business with three names

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:39 PM PDT

So I am going to post this is r/askreddit and r/business. So I'm in the UK and there is a local business that in the past 2 and a half years have closed and reopened under 3 different names. Would there be any suspicious reason that they are doing this to avoid debt?

    Getting low shipping rates?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 04:03 PM PDT

Started a side hustle that's been doing very well, basically a full blown business already.

I ship a variety of items with the largest being around 25 pounds, currently ive been using flat rate boxes but i feel like there's gotta be a cheaper option for businesses with a higher shipment volume...

Is there anything youd recommend to look at to reduce our shipping prices? (We offer free shipping)

    Selling and Retiring during Corona

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:30 PM PDT

Hi all! I'm new to this subreddit, and have never been involved here. Few things just to clear up; I am looking for advice for my father's small business. Don't want to give too many details, but he turned 70 this year and runs a health food's store. He is not very business minded, and bought the store after being laid off from his job about 10 years ago.

The business has been declining for about 5 years (can't compete with amazon and chain health foods) but still turns a decent enough profit for him to be able to support himself and my mother and our mortgage in a nice neighborhood. I think it would do well in the hands of a business oriented individual/group.

    Now getting to the point:

    1. I am worried about his age and his health. I want him to sell ASAP but neither him nor I know where to begin. I'm scared that corona will push him to work until his deathbed.

    2. Corona has pummeled sales, but the nature of the business (essential) has made it survivable. It's still profitable. I argue that this makes it a marketable business to sell during this pandemic, but my father disagrees. Who is correct?

    3. Is it worth riding out this pandemic, Or should he sell? I don't think he has the resources or time to build it back to what it was pre-pandemic.

    4. I need to talk to a professional on helping us sell this thing. What resources would be helpful? Who should we talk to? And how much info should we give them?

TL;DR Want my dad to sell his essential small business as he is old, but don't know how, and would like advice on what/when to do it.

I worry about my parents and their financial situation day in and day out. I know this is a difficult economic situation for many people. Any prayers/ good vibes you can send our way would be much appreciated :) good luck to everyone out there

Stuff like, bookeeping, SEO, marketing...anything like that, which is universal for a small business but really any business I guess.

    Thanks

Will my past history hurt my chances of going into business?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:20 PM PDT

I would like to open a business one day, obviously nothing that'll possibly make millions or billions but just some place I can sell my products that I have worked hard on but I always feel like my past "toxic" history on the internet will blockade me from doing so. I never said or did anything too crazy, but I have undoubtedly said offensive things when I was a child. Keyword "child".

If on the off chance I actually do make a pretty good business, I have the feeling that it'll be a giant roller coaster slope in my career because of the cringy things I have done when I was a kid that the media could use whenever, obviously the likelihood of me becoming anything big is very small but I still don't like people holding that leverage over me.

    What should I do?
Besides me, the millionaires and billionaires of our future generation, how will they deal with these kinds of problems?

Entering into agreements, deals & contracts online. How efficient is your agreement processes from negotiation to signing to post-contractual relationship management? Share your solutions, please!

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 10:49 AM PDT

I'm building a startup & am doing some research pertaining to frequent dealmakers & those who enter into a lot of agreements online (any kind - contracts, new vendor management, arrangements with partners, other legally binding communication).

I'm curious to hear what problems do you have pertaining to entering into agreements these days. What's the hardest part about online agreement processes you have?

How did you come up with a potential solution? Is it perfect or something is missing?

    Thank you!
