Then Berkshire Hathaway has their annual meeting and Buffett says he sold out his ENTIRE position in the airline industry !! And to top it off he actually sounds scared of the market at these prices. Sitting on 134 BILLION IN CASH. Part of me wants to sell all my stocks now and wait for the crash, other part just wants to hold and see what the fuck happens since Murphy's law has always fucked me over.

Tesla Prepares To Restart Production At Fremont Factory This Week: Report

    Posted: 06 May 2020 10:01 PM PDT

Tesla shut down its Fremont factory in March after back and forth communication with Alameda County officials, who determined that the automaker wasn't an essential business and couldn't operate as usual during the pandemic. The company's CEO Elon Musk has been particularly critical of the lockdowns imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus, referring to it as "fascist," and has called for a reopening of the economy.

    Price Action

Tesla's shares closed 1.87% higher at $782.58 on Wednesday. The shares traded 0.4% lower at $779.50 in the after-hours session.

[Source: Benzinga found via Beeken io]

    My Thoughts

Will Tesla hit $1000 by the end of summer? The way things are shaping up with COVID-19 in the US, I would think no, but maybe I'm wrong?

Charles Schwab to offer investors fractional trades of S&P 500 companies including Amazon and Apple

Called Schwab Stock Slices, investors will be able to trade fractional shares of any S&P 500 company starting at $5 each.

But using the new online tool, investors can buy up to 10 different stock "slices" in a single order. Each stock will cost the same amount of money regardless of its share price. Each slice counts as a separate investment and can be sold individually.

Need Feedback on a business idea - Please provide your thoughts!

    Posted: 07 May 2020 07:51 PM PDT

I'm thinking about building a website that teaches different valuation models (DCF, APV, Dividend discount, economic-profit etc). I'm looking to spend quiet a bit of time and energy into this but I want to validate the idea before all that sweat equity. Here's the concept, please provide honest feedback. If you think it's shit, let me know that too.

I want to teach valuation in a way that does not seem overwhelming so the average investor really understands what intrinsic value is, and to cement the idea that buying a stock is like buying a piece of a business. I want to make it the best resource I possibly can and I plan to offer it all for free in a series of modules.

I would also write about other teachings that I have found to be extremely useful in my investment journey ie, Ben Graham, Fischer, Monger, Buffet etc.

The hope is to build a email subscriber following who would then be willing to pay a small monthly subscription (maybe $10-$30) a month for access to my personal valuation of companies. I'm thinking every other day, or if it has a big enough following then everyday.

The strategy here is that by teaching valuation first, and walking subscribers through my process first, that it builds credibility and trust in my knowledge. I think that is the most important thing. I don't claim to be a financial advisor or for them to go and act on my valuations, as all models have underlying assumptions and forecasting.

Would you pay a small subscription fee for this type of service?

    PRU stock outlook

    Posted: 07 May 2020 07:27 PM PDT

Hi. Thank you all for your posts. My wife has a stock purchase plan at PRU that allows here to buy at 15 percent discount to the lowest price of either the start or end to a quarter. We have accumulated a bunch of shares this far and plan to allocate the same amount for next 15 years with div reinvest. We max out both 401 is into diversified funds and then max out her stock plan.

Is this a good long term strategy? Not worried about the recent hit we took on our existing shares bc we are buying now real cheap and reinvesting those divs.

I guess my question is in your opinion is PRU a viable company that will still be around in 15 to 20 years. I imagine by then we'll have a bunch of shares.

    Thank you for your insight.

Question about $SHIP and the stock market in general

    Posted: 07 May 2020 08:25 PM PDT

I have been hitting the penny stocks for the first time in my life for about two weeks. I've managed to figure out (kinda) the pump and dumps and when to buy and sell them. So far I've turned 50 dollars Into almost 500. I have been following $SHIP since before I actually grew the nuts to invest in the markets. I noticed early yesterday that a whale purchased 900,000 shares on the lvl 2 market data so at its lowest possible point (.12) I bought in 1,000 shares. This was before stocktwits started chirping about it. After doing some DD it seems like this company is a bit more than a pump and dump or at least it was. I read that some company or other has agreed to buy some astronomical amount of shares at an agreed upon price, that was supposed to be today I think. If that's the case then this puppy is gonna bottom out tomorrow right? When a company does a selloff like that doesn't it almost always devalue the price per share? Or am I missing something here?

    Opinion on Cloudfare

    Posted: 07 May 2020 02:25 PM PDT

I have about $25k in extracting cash. I'm thinking about buying an individual stock. I'm a very safe investor with a diversified portfolio in different industries. International bonds, US bonds, international stocks, US stocks, and alternatives.

I'm considering taking a little bit more risk by investing all of the $25k into one stock and letting it grow.

Was curious what the community's opinion was on Cloudflare?

5/7 Unemployment, End of Day Selloffs, Flattening?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 05:17 AM PDT

    Market Notes:

Yesterday was much like the day before, strong open, weak close. We have seen selloffs in the last hour of the day without a clear catalyst two days in a row.

Unemployment numbers are expected out this morning, we've seen gains on previous unemployment numbers despite record-high claims.

Bitcoin is holding above $9,000 strongly this morning. I'm still waiting for a $10,500 breakout to buy. Halving is less than a week away.

The NY Times released a graph that shows the country as a whole with the NYC area removed is actually not showing a decline in cases, the trend is still up as many states begin to ease restriction.

Futures are higher again this morning, let's see if this holds.

    Watchlist:

RVP is a low float, watching for a setup above $5

PRTS is a lowish float earning play, watching for some volume to come in.

    CTSO has support at $10.20

CDXC watching for a setup above $5.50

ZNGA is an earning play, could see a short squeeze above $8

Advice for GNUS for a beginner

    Posted: 07 May 2020 10:50 AM PDT

    Hi StockMarket,

I am new to trading and after some basic research, focused my purchase of shares on GNUS at $0.32 a share. It's currently hovering between $0.90-1.00 with a massive volume of 110m+ vs 860k average. I understand the jump and interest but I'm not sure what to do next. Is this a stock to keep for the long term, or is this one I should monitor daily and dump/buyback? The press around Genius Brands shows an abundant future ahead, but as a newbie to trading, I am not sure the best way to capitalize. TIA

NEXCF - Future potential of Nextech AR

    Posted: 07 May 2020 05:15 PM PDT

    Nextech AR Solutions (NEXCF)

I'll make this quick and start off by saying I'm a rookie with regard to the stock market but have done my fair share of research into smaller / "off the radar" companies poised with interesting opportunities and lucrative potential.

I was first introduced to NEXCF right before their big blastoff breakout, 52-week high price after news of their launch of 3D augmented reality (3D/AR) solution for online eCommerce product placement advertising.

The CEO of the company seems to have always been, most especially in recent weeks, an active member of the shareholder community and stands behind his brand. There have been plenty of online press releases detailing his investments and purchases of company shares -- and just recently purchasing nearly one million shares himself -- so buying his own stuff means things are going well and he's pretty confident about it, right? He also regularly hosts online video conference calls where he welcomes investors and speculators to come in and chat, watch the show and ask questions -- all done in live action! I feel like he's always been very transparent with his company practices and future plans -- which has lead me to be a firm believer of NEXCF.

Not to mention, although NEXCF is labeled as having OTC shares, their reputation precedes themselves by openly reporting acquisitions, partnerships, revenues, profits, etc.

Also looks like volume and share price have been going up somewhat steadily in recent weeks.

Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions about NEXCF?

    Salon Stock short term...

    Posted: 07 May 2020 05:04 PM PDT

I'm assuming I don't need to start this like most people who announce they've never traded and for whatever reason are thinking about it now, right? Right.

Every time I turn around I hear a co-worker who's pissed they've missed their 4 week hair appointment (which concerns me for many reasons). So, awhile back I thought, hey maybe it'd be a good idea to put some money in a salon. Probably short term, right? For this scenario...

The main one I wanted wasn't public so I did a little research, found Regis Salons and Ulta. I read Ulta is opening nearly 200 stores on Monday. Regis is selling for $4 more than when I started thinking about it.

Yes, this is gambling. I'm assuming retail generally is a bad buy. But, could this be an exception?

Thanks for reading and your time. I've been enjoying your posts the last few weeks.

TWLO | Twilio shares surge 32% after results crush Wall Street estimates

    Posted: 07 May 2020 08:11 AM PDT

Twilio Inc shares surged 32% to a record high after the cloud communication provider's quarterly results and forecast smashed Wall Street estimates on increased demand from telehealth and education companies amid widespread lockdowns.

At least eight brokerages raised their price targets on the stock. Mizuho made the most bullish brokerage, raising its target by $55 to $180.

The company reported first-quarter revenue of $364.9 million, well above the average market estimate of $331.3 million. It also forecast current-quarter revenue of $365 million to $370 million, above expectations of $336.9 million.

[Source: Reuters found via Beeken io]

    My thoughts

The article mentions that demand from its top customers declined in the quarter (Lyft, Uber, AirBnB) but it was offset by increased use from education, healthcare and food delivery companies. If things ease up and some of their bigger customers return, could we see their price climbing even higher? Mid long bet perhaps? They also seem optimistic about long term growth in health care around video APIs leading that growth in the future.

    What do you think?

Here's the company bio for those that aren't as familiar with Twilio. I sourced this from Beeken io

Twilio, Inc. engages in the development of communications software, cloud-based platform, and services. Its platform consists of the following layers: engagement cloud, programmable communications cloud, and super network. The engagement cloud software addresses use cases like account security and contact centers and is a set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that handles the higher-level communication logic needed for nearly every type of customer engagement. The Programmable communications cloud software is a set of APIs that enables developers to embed voice, messaging, and video capabilities into their applications. The super network is a software layer that allows customers' software to communicate with connected devices globally. The company was founded by John Wolthuis, Jeffery G. Lawson, and Evan Cooke in March 2008 and is headquartered in San Francisco, CA.

    Finding good stocks to trend

    Posted: 07 May 2020 02:42 PM PDT

My goal is basic: finding great/interesting companies and making a determination as to what the value of their stock should be. I will hold this number in high regard. If there is a book to recommend, it must provides specifics to this process. I have been reading a lot, and watching youtube throughout the quarantine to have made a few great returns since the beginning of the crash but I am a bit anxious when I do get to exercising my decision to buy because of the lack of certainty in the fundamentals of the company. I also have no idea when to pull out, which is a symptom of my not knowing how much the stock should cost. Pardon my lack of knowledge and feel free to correct anything I have written here.

So, please, more experienced (value) investors, will you provide insight/direction:

:: What tools/websites/math/process do you use to find a solid company and pin a number/range that lets you know the stock is or isn't over/undervalued? How often (if at all) should this be reevaluated?

I am not looking to discount management/leadership, and I am not sure if future cash flows are something to consider given the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.

I am looking to long-hold all of these stocks. Catching the bottom is not the main goal, I only wish to obtain more insight in navigating the stock market.

    Merck (MRK) - Placebo Value?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 08:08 AM PDT

Merck has been underperforming the market, while the company itself continues to perform very well. COVID has effected its products, like most companies, yet others have risen and left MRK flat.

Price targets range from $93-$103 and general ownership from institutions remain almost unchanged. Insiders have been buying the stock, which is a positive sign they believe the stock to be undervalued, yet this leaves me questioning if this is all a placebo value stock or a real buy.

Heard something vague about Air Canada?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 01:36 PM PDT

I'm pretty new to investing, don't have a ton of money to throw around but I thought I'd get an early start as I'm still young. I read some conflicting statements on the prospects of Air Canada (ACDVF), butlooking at its history it seems to me like it has potential to rise in the next couple years as we recover from the crash. In your not so professional opinion, would this be worth piping a little extra money at? Reminder that this is an opinion, nobody is held accountable for anything should something go wrong, I just don't have anyone irl that knows anything about the market to talk to

Anyone else expecting the jobs report tomorrow to shock the market?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 01:05 PM PDT

What if the unemployment rate exceeds expectations? Were are we priced in at? 10%, 15%, 20%? Whatever it is we can expect the news to blast out that it's the highest ever and correctly so. We can expect interviews with people who can't afford to pay rent and restaurants that can't stay open another month.

And of course that's on top of a market that's overbought and rising on lower and lower volume by the day.
