| Tips for someone new in the US Posted: 15 May 2020 01:15 PM PDT Hello, I just moved here in the US last March and I would like to restart a new life and try to prosper here as fast and efficient as I could. I was a freelance web developer from the country where I am from and I wasn't able to save since I made a lot of mistakes and wrong decisions because I was not thinking and just wasted my youth. First off, I am; - 27 years old / male - no disability but have chronic kidney disease, on dialysis - currently trying to get a job but the covid outbreak is making it hard for me to apply - my wife gives me 500$ a month for my "budget" needs, I currently have 800$ in cash and the 200$ is in stocks right now through Stash. What I started is I opened a savings bank account with discovery (1.25% APY) and downloaded Stash for some investment, but I don't know anything about it yet and just monkey-ing with the app. I currently only have: Vanguard ETF (VTI) SPHD (for dividends) What do you suggest I do with my current money and what else do I need to grow my money here in the US when I finally land a decent job. If someone could, I also need some advice on stock trading because I really want to learn it and earn with it to boost my money growth. Thank you all. [link] [comments]  | ||
