How do Salespeople make their personal budget knowing they have varying salaries ? Posted: 10 May 2020 09:18 AM PDT Most of us have varying salaries each month (quarter or year). What tool, if any, do you use to budget your personal spending? Example: I plan on buying a house in 5 years. I heard of YNAB, Mint, etc. but not sure if they are suited for varying salaries. I HATE my job, please tell me it gets better Posted: 09 May 2020 10:25 PM PDT I sell home security systems. I get on Redfin or Realtor and find homes that have been recently sold then I go to the new owners and try to get them to buy shit It's basically door to door but only to newly bought homes. Point is they didn't ask me to show up and aren't expecting me and I fucking hate it. I feel like such a nuisance and every deal I've gotten just makes me feel slimy and guilty My dad works pharmaceutical sales and that's what I thought I wanted to do but now I don't know. Edit: some of you have suggest to just do something else but I need the experience. It's hard to get a job at 23 with waiting tables as my only job experience. I'd love to move into medical devices or something but they all want 2+ years in sales first Edit #2: some of you are offering advice on how to sell which I appreciate but I am actually okay at selling. My numbers aren't the problem. The problem is that I feel like I'm intruding on people's lives and I don't think mental gymnastics like believing in the product or whatever changes that. What's up with salaries for sales people in the US? Posted: 10 May 2020 05:04 AM PDT Every once in a while when I browse this sub I come across people who make 100k$ + in their first 2-3 years as sales reps/managers. Here in germany, I know exactly one guy who makes six figures in sales, and he's working at a very large company and has been there for around 5-6 years before he got to that point. I'm also seeing a lot of job offers here where companies are looking for "sales & markering managers" where you read the job description and realise that the company doesn't actually now crap about what a sales manager is actually supposed to do. And capped commissions are fairly common here. How come sales jobs in the US are being paid so extremely well? I mean don't get me wrong guys it's good for you US sales bros but it's kinda depressing reading about people pulling in 200k-300k$ while 60k€ is considered a large salary here. [link] [comments] |
Cold calling for investment advisors Posted: 10 May 2020 10:20 AM PDT Hey everyone, anyone cold calling business owners or people in general about markets? How their investments are doing, etc? Any tips or strategies would be welcome. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 May 2020 12:01 PM PDT I'm 24 I've been in car sales for 2 years now, have a sizeable down payment, and am looking to buy my first house. Being in the car industry has taught me everything about buying a vehicle but I feel so overwhelmed for buying a house. I was hoping to get some advice from people a lot more experienced than me. Ive heard about people buying at auctions or going straight to a bank that has a foreclosure and cutting out the realtor. I just want to get the most house I can with the amount of money I want to spend. Any help would be much appreciated. And I am aware this may not be the most appropriate sub to post this in, but given I'm in sales and I'll have to be dealing with sales, either a realtor or negotiating the deal on my own, I'm hoping I can get some valuable opinions here. The new meeting format... Zoom. How to entertain and be professional? Posted: 10 May 2020 05:30 AM PDT It was cool at first but now these meetings are starting to get long, boring and repetitive in format. What are some of the best ideas and presentations you have seen on Zoom that help make it more interesting for the audience? [link] [comments] |
Pivoting from tradeshow sales to something less fu#ked by the rona Posted: 10 May 2020 08:10 AM PDT Hey sales, I'm a sales director working in a creative agency that designs and builds bespoke and large (1m+ budgets) tradeshow booths for some pretty big brands Just to clarify im a SD but its a small dept, me and 2 sales managers, and I'm very much hands on with prospecting, qualifying, progression and closing. The industry has been decimated by the virus and I can't see big trade shows going ahead in the next 6 months at least. So what I'm asking here is, has any one here changed track from selling creative services to another sector, SaaS for example, and what was your experience of the change? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Next progression after sdr/bdr? Posted: 10 May 2020 06:59 AM PDT Hi guys, I was wandeeing after the 1/2 years what the next progression would be after being a sdr or bdr? Would the next role be a proper field sales role? I say this because i always want a job with very infrequent travel and prefer to just go to the same office everyday so are there other high paid inside salea role after we move on from business development? Many thanks [link] [comments] |
In search of a sales based community.... Posted: 09 May 2020 11:52 PM PDT I'm tired of free online communities being nothing but non-stop pitch fests. I would like to be a part of a community where everyone is vetted through an application process and is paid so there is a barrier of entry and only contributors stay - one where regular talent + benefits are brought in for the group. Maybe a slack group + a place where there can be a community pool of resources? Does this exist anywhere? Anyone else feel the same? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 May 2020 04:15 PM PDT Hi my name is XXX I'm calling from XXX [would talk a little bit about the company, types of bricks supplies, USP, some relevant customers] Do you have any upcoming projects? Then I would ask further qualifying questions and hopefully have them agree to send them a quote. Can it be this simple or am I completely of track? [link] [comments] |
Selling to bars and restaurants! - Need advise Posted: 09 May 2020 11:07 PM PDT Hello! A bit of background: I have a vodka brand (startup) that I import from Europe. The feedback has been great, from the bottle design to the product inside. However, I struggled with selling to bars and restaurants from the get-go, and think it would be even more strenuous post Covid-19. I am self-distributing at the moment, mainly because any (big)distributor requires "numbers" before taking on a brand. The biggest issue I face is that whenever I bring up self-distributing, I can tell that they lose all interest in buying. - What are the most important points that I should keep in mind when pitching to bar managers? - (Bar Managers) - What is the ideal price per OZ that makes your day? - Why would you take on a new brand? - (or how to sell a new vodka brand to a bar?) Any points or advice that you may have would be very useful. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS POST. [link] [comments] |
How do I ask for a warm intro? Posted: 09 May 2020 10:21 PM PDT Hello everyone, SaaS BDR here and first time poster! I have loved all the insight from the r/sales community. You have been instrumental in my knowledge of sales and I love reading through all the posts (new to Reddit so don't know if that's what you call them). I have been trying to research this question on the internet but not getting anything really answering it. So I thought that the amazing experience in here would be the place to go! Here is some backstory: I had my first successful video message get me a response from a C-level executive on LinkedIn. I made it very customized and he appreciate the outreach. He directed me to a person that more directly deals with what I sell. My question is how should I go about asking for a intro? I've see a thing on sales Nav that says "ask for an introduction". I want to do this but don't want it to kill my chance of setting the meeting. He is out of the US so email/LinkedIn are the best ways to reach him. How should I ask for the intro? Has anyone done it through sales nav and had any success?? I hope everyone is doing well, been a rough month on my end and I am trying everything to get a face in front of the customer. Would love answers to this question and any other advice of best practices that are working in these times! Thank you all in advance! [link] [comments] |
Is 4 months of D2D enough to put on a resume to move into a different sales role? Posted: 09 May 2020 06:23 PM PDT My best friend got me a job doing D2D, I was really unsure about it with the virus until he showed me a $2200 check he made last week. He told me we only do this type of work between May-Sept they follow strict social distancing guidelines when doing it. So I decided I'm going to do it. But my question is, is 5 months a good amount of time at all to put this on my resume? I want to move to a higher sales position after but I don't know if I'd stand out. I also tried looking for other sales jobs but they're remote and my place is way too noisy with the other three people I live with and I can't force them to stay quiet since they pay to live here too. This is my only option. [link] [comments] |
Which is the best career to take in Medical Sales? Posted: 09 May 2020 08:27 PM PDT For those of you in medical sales, what do you recommend is a good area to pursue? Everyone has different opinions but I've heard a lot of reps say that ortho and some surgical sales positions are being commoditized. And my sister who works for RWJ says a lot of the hospitals have contracts with the big guys like Stryker. If so, what's an area that is less commoditized with solid growth potential? Posted: 09 May 2020 06:07 PM PDT I know LinkedIn is a very important part of prospecting and discovering new customers but is there a balance to how much you post specifically about your products? Is it better to mix it up and post topics relevant to your industry? Write articles? I feel like its a good opportunity to build your "brand" within your industry to show that you have knowledge behind the product your selling? Also makes it easy to find new opportunities within the industry if you're well known, right? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 May 2020 04:35 PM PDT Hello friends! Having a bit of a hard time doing sub prime sales. I deal with a bunch of people all across America selling sub prime car loans over the phone and am having a tough time! Rates are higher, but the customers tend to be way too entitled thinking they're credit is top notch and believe they can go somewhere else. My question for anyone in this industry... how do you handle the "rate is too high" objection? I personal break it down to them and be completely honest and transparent, but I can never get my closing rate high enough. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Killer strategy for getting clients if you sell B2B services Posted: 09 May 2020 04:18 PM PDT Hey guys, wrote this a while back and figured I would post it here in case any of you are trying to get clients for B2B stuff. I used this tool called Paigham Bot for building up my social media marketing agency back in the day. Was amazing for getting in touch with people and signing them up and lucky for you I wrote down how I did it. If you have any questions feel free to reach out or comment or whatever. https://stuartoden.com/how-i-used-paigham-bot-to-get-all-my-clients-for-social-media-management/ [link] [comments] |
Graduating in June, looking for jobs.. (SaaS) Posted: 09 May 2020 03:18 PM PDT I got to the fourth round of interviews for two separate companies, both of which came back and said they were putting recruiting on pause. I'm still applying to new jobs but there aren't many being posted (SDR in the Bay Area). Is there anything I can do to make the applications I do send in stand out? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 May 2020 01:40 PM PDT For those of you out there who have had to structure remuneration packages; establishing base salaries, commission structures, reward packages - how did you go about it and how did you ensure that you were competitive enough to attain and retain the right talent within your industry/location? I have six months of retail sales experience, what should be my next move? Posted: 09 May 2020 01:20 PM PDT After a pretty crappy tech career (reasons stated below) I now work at best buy and it prides itself on not being commission based. I get the business model and their marketing but I have a major problem with that personally. I'd love to be making commission on the products I sell (while still making a base salary) and I love interacting with all types of customers. I took the job to gain sales experience and to prove to myself that I can sell. I had not sold anything six months ago. At my store I am generally top three revenue maker in the store, top three credit card apps, and not too bad at selling extra services especially when the managers say we need to hit numbers. When I couldn't get an entry level sales engineer role due to lack of sales experience the COO of a company told me to come back to him once I do have that experience. Since that business is having issues due to COVID-19, I'm looking for my next opportunity. Though Junior sales engineer positions in this climate are next to impossible to find. I'm told I have a very good personality for a career in sales, and after my latest job hunt in the tech sector I've read the writing on the wall. That I'm not a good fit for tech support roles. All my life I've been told I'm strange, an acquired taste, intimidating, very rugged, opinionated, and individualistic. When that part of my personality comes out people don't expect it. Yet I put on my fake helpful nice guy customer service face in my retail and customer service roles and do just fine. I've been told I'm very patient and very good at explaining complex technology. So I was thinking cell phone sales or even car dealership work for another six months until/if the economy gets back to normal. People tell me I'd be much more happier selling cell phones. Does selling cell phones help you get Account Executive roles at other tech companies? [link] [comments] |
