    Hi!

Yesterday morning I was leaving a friend's apartment when I was hit by another car. I was driving through the parking lot and they were backing out. The impact to my car was on the right rear quarter panel and a little bit on the right rear door. His rear bumper has some scratches from the impact. Here is a picture of the damage to my car https://imgur.com/a/BCRnNkc . When the accident happened, I immediately got out of my car and apologized to him and and thought that it was my fault. I even offered to pay for his damages out of my pocket. Yes, this was stupid but I am young and was a little freaked out.

Now that I have a had a chance to calm down, I don't think I am at fault. Based on the impact location on my car, most of my car was behind his when he hit me. We exchanged insurance information and phone numbers. I got a quote to repair my car and it came out to approx $1200. Same for his. He offered to let it go and we would just pay for the damage to our own cars. What should I do? I won't file a claim if insurance would find this to be a 50/50 fault. I can afford to pay the $1200 out of pocket to get my car fixed. But if I am not at fault, I would rather not pay for the damages.

    Located in TX.

    Thanks!

    Parked Car Accident

    Posted: 03 May 2020 12:22 AM PDT

Arizona. Involved in a collision with a parked car. Decent damage to one of the parked car's door, minor damage to my vehicle. Would guess around $1200 damage with a worst case being $3500 for both cars.

Should I even consider not getting my insurance involved? Maybe I could save money by just paying out of pocket but it seems the process would be a lot more straightforward with less room for unpleasant surprises if I file a claim.

MIL won't remove my partner from her insurance after saying she would

    Posted: 02 May 2020 10:26 AM PDT

We live in Ohio and my partner is 21. The company is Blue cross blue shield. Recently his mom has taken it upon herself to make our life as bad as possible. One of the things that she's doing is not taking him off her health insurance after we got Medicaid. Her insurance does not cover very much, or at the very least less than Medicaid. We have contacted her numerous times to get him removed and she said she has done it but we're at the hospital and they said they have to charge us through her insurance as he has not been taken off.

    Vacant house damaged by animal

    Posted: 02 May 2020 06:28 PM PDT

If I have a vacant house that the insurance company didn't know was vacant, and it got damaged because of animals like possum or raccoon, would I likely be covered? Also, if I made a claim for that and they found out it was vacant, would they terminate my insurance before my year is up or do I have until renewal time?

    Did I make a mistake?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:51 PM PDT

I was stopped at a red light. Guy hit the back of the car, i went out to look at damage my back bumper was untouched and had practically no damage. he had damage on the license plate of his car. He said he wouldn't report to insurance and I agreed and we both left the scene. Did I make a mistake? Can he somehow scam me? Can I get in trouble? I don't remember any other cars around us at the time and can't remember if the stoplight has a camera or not. Please help! This happened in TX btw

Can my insurance request my payout back later? Due to water damage.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:11 PM PDT

So I had some insect damage to my house that I Ended up hiring someone to come out and do X work on. After he took care of X repairs I completed Z repair myself. Well months later there was a big rain and we had massive water damage. We put in a claim and insurance came out and looked at it and payed out to us for repairs. Now months later I have received a letter from a subrogation company that is looking for contact info for the person I hired to do X and Z repairs because they are thinking Z repair is what caused the leak. I never said the person I hired did Z repairs but they think that's the case. Neither of the repair caused the water damage or can be proved at this point because it has all been completely redone with the payout money I received. Do I tell this company that I completed z repair? Do I just not be able to locate the contact info for the other person and it ends there? Can my insurance sue me to reclaim what they paid me claiming negligence? There was never any mention of them thinking Z repairs being the cause up until now otherwise I would have told them from the beginning that I completed Z myself and just not collected the payout if it wasn't covered.

Question about car insurance, GEICO in CA

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:44 AM PDT

I backed my boyfriend's car into something the other day.

He has insurance on it, but I was wondering if I can file a claim with my insurance co (GEICO) since I was the driver, even though the car is not on my policy? I'm in California, US if that matters.

    House damage over max policy

    Posted: 02 May 2020 05:16 PM PDT

    [Ohio]

So a friend that hit a house last year has found out that the cost to repair is 44,980. His insurance policy only goes up to 25k, but his insurance told him that they only pay if the other part signs some sort of waiver that says they won't go after him for the remaining balance. He has already stated that he will just file chapter 7 if the other party won't accept. How likely is it that the other party will accept basically 50% of the cost?

    United health care question

    Posted: 02 May 2020 12:29 PM PDT

My husband had knee surgery in July 2018 and all the claims were processed and paid and we paid our part in September 2018. Last week I received a letter that they wanted a refund from the surgeon and hospital bc it was a worker's compensation case and they aren't covering it. It is not worker's compensation so I called and requested an appeal. So today I get a letter saying that the surgery was performed outside the United States and they need more information. The surgery was performed in South Carolina. They paid the hospital claim they can see that. What is the next step I need to do?? Any advice welcome

Other person not cooperating w/ insurance?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 03:51 PM PDT

I recently got into an accident with someone else (not my fault) They have nationwide insurance; I have already made a claim a week ago and the other party is not cooperating w/ insurance, preventing it from going forward. We are slowly approaching the California 10-day limit to file a claim and its not looking so bright.

What should I do in this situation? Should I message the other party and tell them I can file charges if they don't respond or is this not advisable? Should I be contacting my own insurance soon? I also need a rental ASAP. Can I get a rental now and get reimbursed later on?

How do Agencies acquire contacts from providers?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:10 AM PDT

Who do they meet with? Just someone at a bank or a representative of a provider?

How do they acquire and negotiate the contracts they obtain to sell and market a provider's products, especially if independent?

I'm asking as an insurance agent unemployed thanks to COVID and considering going independent in Ontario afterwards.

    New Driver Question

    Posted: 02 May 2020 12:25 PM PDT

So i wanted to finance a car at the dealership which requires full coverage but everytime i get a quote online its usually at least 500 for each month, not 6 months.Which im not too sure if its too high since i will be a :

New driver first time insured Age 22 Male Car would be a lexus GS350 Credit around 750s Never no accidents and had only one ticket 4 years ago

I even checked quotes for my moms fully owned nissan sentra 2015 but under my name it was being at least 300 which i think is still too much. So I was wondering if I can get the car under my name and have someone else as the primary insurance holder and have me added on it. Or would i need to suck it up and pay 500 just for insurance? If thats the case i wouldnt get the car but im just wondering.

Need some motivation to keep going with my Insurance Adjuster studies...

    Posted: 01 May 2020 11:08 PM PDT

I'm currently studying to be an insurance adjuster (NY), taking a general adjuster course. I've been steadily getting through it, I'm 47% of the way through the modules, but I'm starting to ponder if it's all worth it in the end and if I can actually do this. I'm concerned about how much of this I'm going to have to actually remember when I'm in the field.

Some of the things I've totally got down; stuff like the standard fire policy being the first standardized form of property insurance, what WCShaver stands for, what DICE stands for, stuff like that I've TOTALLY got down, it's in my head, it's like a post-it that's been super glued there, but of course I cant remember EVERYTHING right? But my concern is how important is it that I DO know everything when I eventually become an IA. Right now, I'm already plotting to avoid Home Insurance claims like it's the plague, because oh my God theres alot to it. Maybe I'll stick to auto if possible... it seems far more doable...

And then theres me doubting if this is something I really want to do. What really appeals to me about being an IA is more of the lifestyle rather than the job itself. The eventual "Be your own boss" if I go independent, the out of office work, the PAY (OHHHHH YES, THE PAY), and the fact that I can pretty much take the career anywhere, to any state that I want to. That all appeals to me, but I'm seeing that this job also entails alot of stress and your work follows you home which I'm not a fan of; is there a break from it all? My job following me wherever I go is a bit terrifying. All that said, I actually do really like what the job itself entails, it sounds pretty exciting.

But yeah, those are my doubts, and I could really use some opinions from new or long time adjusters or insurance agents who feel content with their career path.
