Looking for business owners to interview for a University assignment. Posted: 07 May 2020 01:06 AM PDT Hello, I am studying an entrepreneurship course in Australia and one of our tasks is to interview people who've found success in building a business (or building success) and interview them. I want to interview people who are business owners, have owned a business previously or someone working under a business who is contributing to the goal of the business. I'd love to talk to both large and small business owners!. A brief outline of what I'll ask is how your journey started, what you enjoyed about it and the hardships that you encountered. I'd love it if anybody could tell me their personal experiences. Note: Anything you say will not be publicly shown anywhere and only for references in my task. You can message me here or over on my email: [brian.lee3264@gmail.com](mailto:brian.lee3264@gmail.com). Thank you for reading!! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 May 2020 02:01 AM PDT Hi there, my team is currently going through year end reviews (because we have a non-December financial year end) and as part of this I'm submitting a business case for promotion from Assistant Manager to Manager. My mentor at work has critiqued my case but the one question he asked me I am finding it very hard to answer is "Why do we need a new manager for your role?". I think it's because as part of my case I'm putting forward that I'm already essentially working at that capacity (because that's what everybody has told me for the 5 years I've worked here - you need to demonstrate you can work at that capacity before you are promoted). So I feel sort of stuck - if I'm already working to that level, then they have no reason to promote me? Apart from perhaps the obvious that if they don't well they can find someone to replace me. But that is not a good way to go about that. How can I go about answering that question? I know it might be hard without the context of my company and specific role but any tips or ideas for me to think about would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Business development advice in the US - how to pitch CEO's of $200m - $10bn firms? Posted: 06 May 2020 09:31 PM PDT Hi All, We're a UK based recruitment firm who focus on search/ senior appointments in the construction sector. We work in the UK, Ireland & US - but the US is the key growth hub for us - we are working in the civil space already. I am leading our expansion into the general building contractor sector and have compiled a list of 400 CEO's of the US's biggest building businesses, based from California to New York. Since starting, i've got through to about 20, surprisingly, i've had less time than I would from UK CEOs, but now is a very difficult time to be calling of course given the current climate. Has any one got any advice/ some tips of pitching guys at this level in the US? IS their any specific courtesies expected in the US, and cultural generalizations worth considering based on location etc.. Any advice would be great :). Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Request to interview entrepreneurs for market research for meditation based coaching Posted: 06 May 2020 08:30 PM PDT I'm developing a coaching program for successful entrepreneurs and business people who find themselves unfulfilled, in spite of their success. My background: I am an entrepreneur. In the process of starting and running businesses, I got really stressed, depressed, and burned out. So, I started a rigorous meditation practice to de-stress and to find the fulfillment that I had looked for. It worked. I ended up much happier and more fulfilled. What I am offering: I am interested in helping fellow business people and entrepreneurs develop greater ease and happiness in both their personal and business lives. The ways that I help bring about this positive transformation is primarily through meditation instruction and support. However, guidance and encouragement around ethics, a service orientation towards others, generosity, and positive mindset specially tailored to the business people and their engaged life style play a prominent role in the coaching. Market research request: I am requesting a 45 min conversation about your challenges as a business person who has found success but who is still not fully satisfied. Your input would be highly valuable and I am sure the conversation will be interesting for you, as well. It would be a recorded (audio) conversation, but the recording will not be used for any other purposes other than to ensure I capture your responses properly. Also, you don't need to prepare anything in advance. If you are open to this and are available for a zoom call, please let me know what dates and times would work for you. Thank you in advance, Cedric [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 May 2020 08:18 PM PDT Good evening from NC! I (20M) am getting the process started for opening up my business (teaching Martial Arts on a private student basis), and on the form that I need to register with the State, it requires " the street address of the principal place of business is: (P.O. Boxes are not acceptable". However, I don't have a physical location for my business, I'll essentially be traveling around and won't have an established or dedicated building for this business as of yet. There's a lot of thought behind that decision I would be happy to explain if necessary. What do I put there, just N/A? Also, I can't find anything for a business license for this.. It'll be a Sole-Proprietorship and just me, and I see plenty of things saying that freelancers don't need business licenses but I guess this is a new or not widely spread idea, so I can't find any advice on if I need to acquire a business license. TIA! TL;DR: I'm not sure what to put under physical address on the form to register my business with the state since I don't have a physical location. And I can't find any information on if I need a business license for this particular business (Private lessons in Krav Maga) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 May 2020 11:18 AM PDT Starting and running a business is one of the most desirable careers and/or professions, but it is not a walk in the park. Achieving your ultimate goal has probably been your top priority, which may have resulted in a lesser dating life. I'm looking into this situation, therefore I have two simple questions for you:
I absolutely acknowledge the fact that this topic might be sensitive, but answers are immensely appreciated, so please, do not hesitate to DM me if you don't want to answer in the comments. Thank You in advance, I'm grateful for your precious time! [link] [comments] |
