Lost health insurance due to covid-19 Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:41 PM PDT I was under my mom's health insurance;however, she was put on lay off and our health insurance was terminated. What do you guy recommend? Any tips [link] [comments] |
Car insurance Farmers insurance Posted: 05 Apr 2020 10:19 PM PDT So my friend backs into my car in his driveway, and does a damage worth of $9.5k. He's on a family insurance, so his mom calls their insurance and files for a claim and gives me a claim number. But she says their insurance — meaning "Farmers"— will take upto 4 weeks to get the car into the repair shop due to Covid-19 backup. But if I go through my insurance (Allstate) the claims will take less than a week to process. She says that Allstate will pay for my damages and later recover from Farmers. Is she BSing me on the Covid 19 or is there a way. My Allstate insurance is strictly saying not go through this route. I live in Illinois. [link] [comments] |
All State vs. Progressive vs. Geico Posted: 05 Apr 2020 09:53 PM PDT USA, Maine, 21M Greetings everyone! I am being kicked off of my parent's insurance and am shopping around for a new policy. I have a few accidents from over 3 years ago but less than 5 years ago, plus I'm 21, so insurance is expensive. I have gotten quotes around $200 - $250 from these 3 companies. What is your experience with these 3? The only reason I'd be concerned with Progressive and Geico is they are cheaper insurance companies, and someone at a collision repair center once told me the biggest difference between a cheap insurance company and a higher end company (State Farm, Liberty Mutual, etc.) is that the cheaper companies will buy after market parts instead of real manufacturer parts. Is this true? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Need advice - Adding newborn baby to heath insurance with some twists Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:04 AM PDT My son was born 12/18/19. Our insurance carrier for work switched 1/1/20. I had 60 days to add him to the 2020 insurance coverage but neglected to think of adding him to 2019 insurance. After appealing with 2020 insurance they said I need to talk to 2019 insurance admin (same company 🤷♂️). They have told me I had 30 days since his birth to add him on two attempts now. I am hitting a wall with them. He was alive for 13 days in 2019 and racked up $10,800 in bills. This was a completely uncomplicated birth, thanks USA health care. My wife is a nurse and I am a Physician assistant and have been super busy. We also have two other children born in December(2016 and 2014). We had two grandmothers die in the family since our third child's birth. Does anyone have any insight or advice on this? Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
Subrogation and health insurance actual costs? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 03:06 PM PDT [Tennessee, USA] I was a passenger in a car that was rear ended and it was 100% the other persons fault. I went to doctor and got checked out and the submitted charges came to $922. I used my health insurance and this is how it read Submitted charges $922 - Discounts $689.09 - Eligible Charges $232.91 - Deductible $232.91 - What My Plan Paid $0 - What you owe $232.91 It has a note below saying my provider agreed to accept the amount listed in the eligible charge column ($232.91) as the total allowable charge for this service. These charges were sent to the at fault parties car insurance and they are paying me all of that money plus extra for Pain and Suffering. I've just learned the term subrogate and wondered if I am supposed to contact Blue Cross (My Health Insurance that did all of this) and reimburse them and if so how much? I don't know which amount they get and should I try to find out how much they actually paid because I know insurance companies don't actually reimburse the medical provider for the entire amount that it shows after a medical provider submits charges to the insurance company. Car insurance settlement other paeties involved Posted: 05 Apr 2020 11:27 AM PDT So my car got hit by a drunk driver when it was parked and so did two other cars. I finally got settlement offer for half of what the car is worth I sign for as the settlement will cover the rest of what's owed on my car plus some extra money. My neighbor doesn't want to agree on his offer and it states all parties have to agree to be paid. So he want to have his insurance company fight for more. Will I get more if he does? My damages twice the amount of his. Hes lucky his car is fully paid off other hand I have to wait for his greedy ass as I'm stuck with a car payment with a total car and having to find place to store my car. Is to late for me to get a attorney because I sign for the settlement offer? Its been two months since the accident in tired of waiting. [link] [comments] |
Upgrading PCs/TVs After a House Fire Posted: 05 Apr 2020 02:57 PM PDT We recently had a house fire for which I am awaiting an insurance claim check. I am expecting to receive depreciated cash value for our electronics initially then replacement value once we have purchased replacements. My question is whether they will likely honor the replacement cost for older components/items if I purchase modern replacement parts (using my own money for the difference). e.g. Replacing my old i7 CPU with a new Ryzen CPU Location: Oklahoma, United States [link] [comments] |
I accidentally bumped a curb and popped a tire. Does Snapshot from Progressive pick that up? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 01:26 PM PDT I am using snapshot. I have had Progressive auto for a bit over a month. I am paying for 2 new tires out of pocket. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 09:34 AM PDT I rented a car and was at a local U-Haul location. My rental was parked, ignition off and inside the store. As I was leaving I was asked if the vehicle was mine and was told the U-Haul renter clipped the rear corner of the car. I attempted to call the local PD to have a police report filed however was declined if such service and was told to exchange insurance information. The driver of the U-Haul had insurance with U-Haul and filed a claim via their website. I also called enterprise road side to file a report and provided information on the driver at fault. When I returned the rental the manager claimed that enterprise does not deal with third party insurance companies and this matter is between me and them. I reluctantly gave me my insurance information on an express incident form. What would be the best way to handle this. Pay up front costs and go after repwest (U-Haul insurance provider) or let my personal insurance handle it. I declined all insurance options with enterprise as I have my own car insurance along with secondary coverage with my credit card I used to pay for the rental. Thanks for any tips/advice. Dwelling Fire- newly installed water heater leak claim Posted: 05 Apr 2020 09:04 AM PDT Insured owns a rental home and had a new water heater installed 2/14/20. Renter was out of the home for approximately 7 days, working remotely/self quarantining at their parents home. Renter came back and noticed the water heater was leaking, causing damage to the flooring. Upon hearing this, the insured immediately contacted a water mitigation company to limit further damage. Should this claim be turned in to the heating/plumbing businesses Insurance? Should the landlord turn this in on their Dwelling Fire policy? How is this typically handled? I appreciate any insight. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
