How can I convince Hong Kong commercial Landlord to Reduce Rent?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:16 PM PDT

I run essential business in Hong Kong. I lease 900 sq. ft. for $15K USD/month. My lease expires in Sep 2022. My landlord is CKAH (Cheung Kong Asset Holdings). Their after-tax profits were 30 billion HKD in 2019, and 41.6 billion in 2018. Owner Li Ka-shing's net worth is $30 billion USD. I'm RILED!

In June 2019, the pro-democracy protest started and crippled business. I requested rent reduction, but Chief Manager for Leasing refused. In Jan 2020, when COVID-19 struck, I again asked for a rent reduction, but Chief Manager for Leasing again refused. They didn't answer why they can't reduce, when other HK commercial landlords have.

Any ideas to convince them please? I'm just trying to stay alive.

Mall landlords — major property developers, such as Henderson Land (0012.HK) and Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016.HK) — have slashed February base rents and some have extended the cuts to March. But retailers say this is still too much to bear.

I wanted to ask, do you always create business plan, and how can you predict how many stuff are you going to sell?

Can you tell me the importance of knowing your numbers, and what numbers are the most important? Are there any resources that can teach you how to operate a business as a CEO?

    SBA $10,000 grant confusion

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:24 PM PDT

    Hey guys!

As many of you know, the SBA said that they'll give grants of up to $10,000 to small businesses and other eligible persons. But with only $10 bn allocated to this, and with the vast number of people who are probably applying, I feel as if either at some point some people won't be getting the grant with the current allocation from the government or that many people will be getting well below the $10,000 limit.

Has anyone received the money? Or has anyone been able to reach the SBA and know what's going on?

Applied several days backs and still have no inkling.

    Thank you!

Seeking a business that can help make use of the wasted milk.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:47 PM PDT

As the title says, I am hoping to get some direction and help. I saw a news broadcast that said farmers are currently dumping 30,000 gallons of milk bc we have an abundance, in the Midwest USA. I was wondering what they are doing when this could probably go to the homeless and people that really need the help right now. Can someone help me or direct me to a company that would maybe help and look at this as a blessing to help those who need something, instead of us wasting all this milk? I see an opportunity to turn an abundance into a blessing for some. Thank you

    Forming a business?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:40 PM PDT

Hello everyone! I'm new to this sub. I wanted to ask for some advise in forming a business in MD, US. I have been doing automotive detailing on the side while in school and would like to make it official by the time I graduate university. My main concern is whether or not I should go for an LLC or Sole Proprietorship immediately.

As an mobile auto detailer, I am mostly cleaning vehicles at customers homes. Every now and then I'll get a polishing job. I consider this work to be low-mid on a liability scale. According to many people I have talked to, I should go for an LLC to be safe. It is more complex than a SP though, which seems more attractive in terms of filing, taxes, etc. I work alone and have no interest in hiring employees in the near future.

Any help, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a fintech business idea. I would appreciate some feedback on this idea.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 12:17 AM PDT

Imagine a website where you can make money on the popularity of pop culture trends. That's what my idea is. You can invest in different trends and based on the popularity of that trend you can make money. It's sort of like a stock market for trends & memes. For example if someone wants to invest in the "stonks" meme, if the meme popularity goes up based on the amount of shares it has on the internet the price of the "stonks" meme would rise in price and the investor could sell and make a profit. Users would be able to buy, sell, short, and cover pop culture trends and memes. In a way it'd be like skilled betting, because you technically can't have random people "own a pop culture trend". In a way it would be a combination of buying and selling stocks and betting but for pop culture trends. It's a silly idea but please tell me your opinion on this and if you think this could be a successful business. Thank you for reading!

How exactly to start a renewable energy business?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:13 PM PDT

Let's not lie, renewable energy is the future. The next self made billionaire will surely be in the renewable energy sector. Not only am I passionate about money, but about science, too. But I know that passion isn't likely to take me anywhere.

So, how to start a renewable energy business? One that installs renewable energy sources and supplies the energy to customers? I don't have the resources or the infinite wisdom to innovate a new type of renewable product that the consumers would be all over, so I'm a bit pressed, but what I really want—a dream, I suppose—is to have windfarms, solar farms, etc, under my business name. Like a "big oil" company, but renewable energy instead!

But that's definitely a future aim. Right now I need a starting point, and also help from my fellow business-avid redditors.

This is, as of the moment, a sort of hypothetical-but-maybe-I-will-if-possible idea, but any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Tech companies could save 28billion a year from WFH, will they?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:04 AM PDT

In 2019 Tech companies leased 23million square feet of office space in the US (new leases not existing) According to CBRE. Marketwatch and WSJ estimate that it cost between $10-20k per employee to outfit new space, and then between $5k-14k per year to lease the space (125-300sqft per employee)

Tech companies already have in house productivity apps as well as video conferencing technology to go fully remote and WFH. Additionally, outside of the retail arms such as Apple stores, Window stores, Amazon GO, Google fiber stores as an example, most of these companies don't really have customer interactions.

So will they transition to WFH, they could provide an employee stipend of $100 a month for electric, WiFi and other related expenses and still save huge amounts instead of having office.

*Will this topple the $2trillion commercial real estate market. * Economist believe this would reduce fossil fuel usage by 7% (less gas usage) * Would reduce fast food/ QSR revenue by 15% * Could reduce corporate travel by 800billion a year

How early can I start working on my business credit?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 05:24 PM PDT

I don't know I'll be ready to open a restaurant in 5 years or 10. But I want to start building credit as early as possible. Credit purchases would include groceries for experimental recipes, gas, cookware, and cleaning supplies.

Is it too early to apply for an LLC and open a business credit card? I have "Very Good" personal credit. I also live in Colorado. The restaurant will be in Virginia.
