What is the deal with B4 pushing Alteryx?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 07:00 PM PDT

Do you guys like it? What do you think are the benefits of it, if you do think it has any?

My B4 firm pushes it endlessly, and I get it probably has the contract rights to share with clients, etc., but I'm curious if y'all think it's really the next big analytic app?

Also, what do y'all think of tableau?

Is it worth it to study for the CPA right now?

Prometric probably won't be re-opening until May or June at this point, just wanted to see what everyone else thought about studying right now. Is it worth it?

When will the rest of the Big 4 announce their plans for summer 2020 interns?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 04:17 PM PDT

With PwC announcing the cancellation of their summer internships and replacing them with a 2 week long virtual training, I'm surprised that the rest of the Big 4 haven't announced their plans for the summer yet.

Do you think all will do similar things? Do you think there is potential fall out if one firm offers a significantly worse or better replacement than PwC has? Why might the other firms be stalling?

Am I not meant for accounting?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 10:13 PM PDT

I am a sophomore at IU Kelley, I can tell you what a balance sheet and income statement look like from my memory and how to put everything it needs. Where I fall off is adjusting entries. I can't seem to grasp it no matter how much I try and work. I know about the Dead Cler for the Debits and Credits but this adjusting entries just doesn't make sense to me at all and all students are not online for the remainder of the semester. I am afraid that next semester I won't be able to do what I need to in my higher accounting classes. Could you please give me some tips or how was it when you started? Thank you.

    PwC full time offers 2021?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 04:13 PM PDT

So I have an offer for a winter internship in the Dallas assurance practice for PwC. They have assured me that our offers for the internship will be honored for sure, but does this increase the likelihood that I won't receive a full time offer at the end of the internship??

[CAN] CPAs in Toronto, what's the current status of the job market?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 08:49 AM PDT

I'm in western Canada contemplating a move to Toronto this summer (hopefully once the pandemic makes it easier to move, might have to delay until next year). Curious to know what the current status of the job market is like. Just looking at Linkedin and Indeed, the sheer volume of CPA jobs seems overwhelming, but I'm curious to know how long these opportunities stay open, how competitive it is and how the pandemic has changed the market landscape at all.

    Some background that might help:

    • Wrote and passed the CFE in 217
    • 2.5 years at a Big 4 (left as Senior 2, high ratings/good reviews each year)
    • 2 years as a Manager, Financial Reporting at a public company.

I'd be looking at FR Manager/Controller/FP&A Manager type of jobs specifically so hoping you guys have insight, also on salary $$ at this level in TO. Also, it took me about 2 months to leave B4, would I expect a similar timeline?
