Anybody understands why USA announced very bad news last night and market goes up? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 07:26 AM PDT I very much doubt they are pricing in the salvation package that was last week. Now it's only more victims more quarantines and more low earnings reports for the next two months. Unbelievable? Sounds even manipulated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:03 PM PDT The US Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission began checking stock transactions in recent weeks by members of US Congress who had access to classified information about the spread of coronavirus and the impact of the unfolding pandemic on the economy The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as part of the investigation, requested information about the stock sales of Senator Richard Burr who sits as Chairman of the Senate Special Intelligence Committee [link] [comments] |
Hands up those who are waiting for SQQQ to rise..! Posted: 30 Mar 2020 06:05 AM PDT It's already - 3.3% on pre market. Do you think it will go up any time this week? [link] [comments] |
Suckers Rallies and Bull Traps Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:02 PM PDT For those of you newbie traders out there, we have two phenomena that occur when the market's fundamentals are completely fucked and yet the market rallies. These two phenomena are detailed below: Suckers Rally A "suckers rally" is when innocent and naive investors with their investing baby diapers still on experience a high degree of FOMO (fear of missing out) and buy the hell out of a market when it has a technical rebound after hitting a new low. This almost always ends in disaster as the market bounces and then proceeds to fall further from its previous lows. This occurred prior to the record lows during the Great Depression and the Great Recession in 2008. Bull Trap A "bull trap" occurs when people "bullish" about the market fail to recognize that the fundamentals of earnings, revenue, and employment are screwed, and yet continue to buy up stocks ignoring the obvious. They think that sentiment will overpower the fact that companies are screwed and going bankrupt and buy into an overpriced market thinking it will magically go up. Conclusion Regardless of what category you fall into, it is clear that the current rally cannot be sustained until the economy starts functioning again. Unemployment numbers are skyrocketing and we have yet to hit earnings season yet. Don't be surprised if there is another 20%+ knocked off the Dow before the markets find a bottom. [link] [comments] |
Everyone who is speculating whether or not to buy or sell. Posted: 30 Mar 2020 02:20 PM PDT No one person knows the answer. The market will go up. And it will go down. It is your money. Would you ask a random person on the street corner how to spend your money? Buy what you think is best, utilize all of your credible resources. Thinking critically. Go with your gut. If it's for a loss, so be it. You can most likely recover in the coming weeks. Most if not everything is drastically lower then their 52 week highs. Also, ride the wave, no matter how big or small. Good luck! [link] [comments] |
RIP to the dude who brought $30,000 in SQQQ Posted: 30 Mar 2020 10:28 AM PDT It must be painful for him today to be seeing the drop. [link] [comments] |
NEWS FLASH: There is a Reason Experts Say Markets Are Almost Impossible to Time Correctly Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:18 PM PDT I've seen multiple posts every day about this (except Friday) complaining about unemployment numbers, recession, cases, deaths, oil, you name it and questioning why the market is up. NEWS FLASH. Everyone already knows this. The markets do not react to current conditions! They care about the FUTURE. It doesn't matter what it's looking like now, it only matters the sentiment on how bad this can get. Please stop buying puts and making dumb decisions like buying SQQQ because everything is bad right now and markets obviously have to go down because of it. You aren't some magic sage that is the only person in the world who sees how bad the situation is. Everyone and their god damn cat is bearish right now. Like seriously, just look at reddit. Everyone here is expecting the worst already. We all have the same information and most of us have made the same conclusion, so why would it go down if everyone already expects the worst? It would need even worse than current expectations to go down. Reminder: at the lowest point of 2009, people were saying the same thing. "No way it can go up look at the foreclosure, unemployment numbers, etc," but it went up and up and some weren't convinced it was the end while markets were up 30-40% from lows. As casuals, you and I aren't seeing what everyone else is not seeing. So please stop worrying about DTD fluctuations or stop trying to time it and then complain when it doesn't go how you expect it. Buy VOO and just leave this subreddit and look back in a year. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 08:35 AM PDT Are we at a point where no matter what bad news is released on the economy stocks will continue to go up with the Fed continuing to pump it up? [link] [comments] |
What could possibly cause the market to crash again? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 01:25 PM PDT I see a lot of people, including professional analysis say the market has the potential to hit the lows of early last week. But at this stage, we've been heading in a constant upward trend for a solid week now. We've had a major funding campaign by the Fed and ever since this announcement, the market doesn't seem to care about any of the re-occurring bad news. If the worst and uncertainty is behind us and the market doesn't seem to be affected by new case numbers, unemployment rates, death tolls, affected ratings reports, what could possibly drive the market to do a complete 180 at this point and suddenly drop 20-25% from now? [link] [comments] |
Oil prices falling brent -7%'wti -4% but oil company stocks going up? why Posted: 30 Mar 2020 03:58 AM PDT Shell , Total etc go up but Oil Wti went down and Oil Brent specially, how does that fit together? the general market isn't going up or down either [link] [comments] |

Shut down for two weeks yet new cases rising rapidly still, what gives? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 01:29 PM PDT We the world have been self isolating and shut down for two weeks, yet the daily new cases is equal to that of two weeks ago before the world went into lock down mode, what's going on? How does this nightmare end? Why is this still spreading at such a rapid clip? I go to Target and Walmart and only 5 people are in the store, Noone is gathering in large crowds, can someone please enlighten me.. ANYONE?! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 08:22 AM PDT The world is running out of oil storage. Oil tankers are filling up. The price of oil storage is going up. Tanker stocks are skyrocketing. Is there any downside? I bought $100k of a nice basket of tanker stocks in my opinion. INSW, FRO, DHT, EURN, STNG, NAT [link] [comments] |
The market is low. How do I put $30k in for long term gain/liquidity to buy a house in couple years? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 02:34 PM PDT I have about $30k to put in the market. Should I just buy $5k of different index funds and call it good? I don't have the time or wherewithal to buy and sell every month or so. [link] [comments] |
Stocks continue to increase, what's this week look like? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:33 PM PDT Anything happening this week that would lead to believe that it will drop anymore? [link] [comments] |
Cinemark down 70% since March 1st Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:28 PM PDT Cinemark Theaters (CNK) is one of the only stocks that's still dropping despite the overall market rallying. It's at roughly $10 right now, in February it was almost $40. I believe the news that theaters are still closed in China are partly to blame for this. However, for long term investors like myself I'm thinking this could be a good buy and hold opportunity. Most stocks have gained 70-100% off their lows last week and unless you believe we haven't hit the true market bottom yet, the window for big gains is closing on a lot of companies. Personally, i just can't see companies getting to the low we had in mid March unless corona virus turns into something much worse than people are expecting today (although not counting out that some days will be red). Overall, CNK has a pretty healthy balance sheet with good cashflow. Revenues have been trending upwards overall. What do yall think? Good buying opportunity? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 06:47 AM PDT I've been trying to do research on them and I keep finding two tickets for them to trade. One is OTGLF and the other is OTGLY. Can someone explain the difference to me and why there are two of them? I assume it has to do with what market they are listed in but can't find anything to be sure [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 05:10 AM PDT We start a new week in this time of global crises. Asian markets went slightly lower this morning with South Korea almost neutral, Japan down 1.5% and China down from 1 to 2%. European markets are still trading and at this time, 8AM ET, slightly lower around 1%. But there has been a constant raise from the open when stocks were down around 2.5, 3%. This upward move from the lows was translated in the US futures which opened down 3% last night. From this low, they too have been constantly moving upwards and now are hovering around neutral, with the NASDAQ futures reaching +1%. President Trump extended the social distancing measures for another 30 days. The experts expect the US will reach its peak of new cases and deaths in around 2 weeks, so it is not wise to open the economy at this time. Worst case scenario for the US, the President said, is over 2 million deaths, but with all the precautions they expect thin number to be around 100000. Yesterday was a good day for the global community, with new cases slowing down. On Saturday we had 66000 new cases, while yesterday only 59000. This decline was seen in New York as well. Will this be an outlier or a sign of slower growth we will find out in the next couple of days. For today's trading we should see an upward move after the open, as a continuation of the pre-market moves. I recommend coming in before or at the open and making a 0.5 – 1% gain and getting out. The smaller range than normal is because of the stabilization of the pre-market moves today and the trading on Friday. Stocks are trading in smaller and smaller ranges and there is market stabilization with things getting back to normal. Good luck! [link] [comments] |
Stock Watch List March 30, 3020 Posted: 30 Mar 2020 05:54 AM PDT Good Morning, here's my watch list. Gap Ups: ABT (50 and 200 DMA over head), APT, BLPH, BNTX, CALM, CHWY, INO, OMI, ZM Gap Downs: AXSM (200 DMA at 47.27), CCL, It looks as if virus stocks are trying to move again. Many stocks were gapping down but it looks as if they are being supported pre market so I didn't add them to my list. This week it is possible we will get some clues as to what happens next. Will the market continue lower and base/form a "w" pattern or will it continue higher. This is a different scenario based on the biggest stimulus package in history and news of the virus. We will have to wait and see.Either way, SPY under multiple resistance levels. I'll be trading price action in these gappers, see if we can catch a trend if the market holds up. If you are new to trading, position size with pre planned risk/reward in mind. Have an entry, stop and target before entering trades. Good luck [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 07:30 AM PDT I bought shares of SDOW AND SQQQ towards the second half of last week and I am unsure what to do... should I just hold on to it till we have a big red day? [link] [comments] |
What stocks are on your radar right now Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:40 PM PDT I know we are not at the bottom yet but which stocks are currently on your radar for either long term or quick gains? [link] [comments] |
Was March 23rd the ''bottom''? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 10:23 AM PDT I think the time of volatility has died down. Everyone is in quarantine, and now the stock market is bullish. Edit: I've been disciplined to not let myself get too excited when I saw the bearish-red bloodshed. I'd be pissed if I missed out on MSFT at the $135 range. The feds pumping in the money though, it feels like they cushioned the fall. I need a good smack of sense. [link] [comments] |
Commission free trading platforms accessible from UK/Ireland any good recommendations? Posted: 30 Mar 2020 10:17 AM PDT Currently using Revolut but very restricted although commission free if you're a metal card holder, so looking to see if anyone can recommend a decent platform available in the UK/Ireland... Posted: 30 Mar 2020 03:12 PM PDT The ticker I made the most on today was $CYDY. Took it 2.38 to 2.47 and then 2.49 to 2.65. Ending +$1,457 overall, nice start to the week. @timothysykes [link] [comments] |
