New Independent Agent need help Posted: 29 Mar 2020 04:32 PM PDT Hello everyone! I'm a new Independent Agent. Trying to get contracted with different companies. I got recruited from this private company for life insurance. And they having contracted with 16 companies little by little. They having first sign myself as my first client. Is it normal to have me sign up for all those companies? I'm getting a weird feeling...but again I don't have much experience in the business yet. And I don't want to get wrapped up with the wrong companies. What are something I need to look out for? The normal and the abnormal. Thank you for reading this far. Your answers and advice are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Hit a parked car with U-Haul van, I don't have car insurance Posted: 29 Mar 2020 06:44 AM PDT Hello there! I hit a parked car yesterday (2015 nissan altima) with my U-Haul 9' cargo van while backing up. The parked car had a parked scooter behind it, meaning the front of the car was protruding beyond the allotted space. I know it's still completely my fault, just feeling pretty bummed right now. Here's my situation: - I don't have car insurance because I don't own a vehicle - I bought Collision Damage Waiver from U-Haul which only covers the U-Haul vehicle (which was not damaged at all). They did not offer their "Savemove Plus" liability option for cargo vans - The front of the nissan is pretty bad, the frame might be slightly damaged, the bumper is damaged, the radiator is dented, one headlight cover is damaged. My question: - Will I be completely responsible for paying damages, or will U-haul's own liability help cover some of the cost? Here is U-Haul's bit about liability in their terms/conditions: "An automobile liability insurance policy or a qualified self-insurance arrangement provides the Authorized Driver with the minimum limits of $25000 per person, $50000 per occurrence and $20000 for property damage as required by the State of Virginia. In the event you are involved in an accident outside of Virginia, the minimum limits as required by the accident State shall be provided. The protection provided by the Company is excess or secondary to any insurance coverage of the Customer or an Authorized Driver. If the liability protection provided under this Agreement and other insurance available to the Authorized Driver apply to a loss on the same basis, the Company will pay only the Company's share. The Company's share is the proportion that the limit of protection provided under this Agreement bears to the total limit of all insurance applicable to such loss." Thank you all for your help, and stay safe and healthy :) [link] [comments] |

Self-inflicted Vandalism. Need Advice Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:36 PM PDT Hey, So before I was going to pull out of a parking space I jumped out to get something out of my trunk, which is a hatchback (Scion tC). When I pulled to open the hatch the molding that holds the button came off. I called Toyota and they said they had a recall but it has expired. Part is $500 and my deductible for insurance is $500. I got bumper to bumper coverage. No police report. Quote for repair was $1800. I want to sell the car soon. So I want to fix it to give it more appeal. Does it make sense to just call USAA say what happened? I am at fault obviously. It is just cosmetic damage. I haven't had a claim in years so I do not think this would affect my rates much if any. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Insurance company and other party in accident not responding...what should I do? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:02 PM PDT Hello! On February 17th, my car was hit in a parking lot. The woman immediately apologized said she didn't see me, (yadda, yadda, yadda)and provided her information. I am close with the dealership owner that leased my car to me and immediately went there to get the damage assessed. Once he had a quote and because the cost was so low, he called her personally to see if she would be interested in paying cash instead of going through insurance. I witnessed him leave her a voicemail and assured me he would continue to follow up with her. In the next 2 weeks, him and I both tried to get ahold of her with no response. So I decided to reach out to her insurance my initial call with them was on March 4th at which time all went well and I sent them pictures, and her insurance information as well as a police report. I have now left the specific agent assigned to the claim at least 5 voicemails and an additional voicemail with their supervisor with no response. I should add this is a HUGE insurance company. I could pay for the repairs myself but at this point it's about principle and understanding what the heck is going on. Does anyone have and insight or next steps to offer? [link] [comments] |
Insurance settled lawsuit against me! Now what? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 12:44 PM PDT I got a one sentence letter from geico. They settled with the party suing me. So will I get something from the court saying this is dropped? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 03:55 PM PDT A friend of mine was just in a car accident and has no insurance, but was not at fault. The other car was driving in the wrong lane and my friend was making a right turn, and at the last minute they both grazed each other. The other driver has insurance, and is asking for $2,000, so now she wants to know how she should proceed. Edit: This is the State of California [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 02:45 PM PDT Situation: - I was going into a protected left turn coming off of the freeway - The driver of the other car ran a red light, causing me to hit him with my front end - I hit him on his right passenger door - He is claiming that I ran the red light, when I clearly had a green - no witnesses My car is pretty damaged, and my face is swollen and my arm is bruised. I may have broken fingers. His car is fine, and he has no injuries What can I do in this situation to protect myself? This guy is trying to get away with this. He gave me his HOME phone, instead of his cell phone. He gave me his MEMBERSHIP card instead of his actual insurance card. What do I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 05:43 PM PDT Hello, I was recently hit by someone else and everyone was in agreement that she was at fault. The front driver-side of my car has quite a bit of damage, and the car now just sputters around. It was a 20-something year old car though, worth less than 1,000 dollars. However, I have problems with anxiety, and once was on medication for it. This has caused it to act up tremendously and also there's some pain in my back. As of right now, I do not have medical insurance, so I can't go to the doctor, which I believe factors into the insurance company decision for their eventual settlement amount. Years ago, someone else hit me and my car was totaled. I had to go to PT and the ER, and I think that went into the insurance companies settlement figure. How do I make sure pain/suffering is taken into consideration if I can't get a monetary amount from going to medical professionals? Also, does anyone know how much these kinds of things usually settle for? I'm not wanting to go to a lawyer or anything like that. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:54 AM PDT The area of Ohio I live in was hit with heavy rain last night and my basement flooded. The area is prone to ponding so it's considered a part of the flood plain even though it's not near the rivers/creeks, etc. we have flood and homeowners insurance. We have a sump pump but it couldn't keep up with the rain so we had 1"-2" throughout the unfinished and finished parts of our basement. Came in one side by where our chimney is and a hole in the cinderblocks foundation on the opposite side of the house. We already have requests out to companies to prevent this in the future. Our wall to wall carpet is ruined in the finished part and potentially the walls (water came through under the baseboards) and some furniture that was too big to lug upstairs. Other than that, we managed to bring most things upstairs. Any advice where to start with insurance or if they'll even help us? [link] [comments] |
Not sure how to proceed with Adjuster Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:00 AM PDT Hello - Just this week my power company sent out a subcontracted crew to bury some new fiber internet lines on my property. Property was marked/flagged by a location services company (spray paint markings and colored flags) over the past couple of weeks prior. We didn't think anything of it because they were only working outside and we knew it would be happening at some point soon since we expressed interest however the work was NOT scheduled or announced to us. About an hour in our lights started dimming and we started hearing buzzing sounds coming from appliances that were obviously not supposed to be making noises. I got to the breaker box as fast as I could to kill power to the house but the damage had been done. The crew digging damaged the buried power line, which, per the power company - not the subcontractor doing the digging - was mismarked by whomever did the locating resulting in damage. We ended up with a damage to our furnace, which was confirmed to have been damaged due to voltage, a $1500 piece of exercise equipment, both of our double ovens, some lightbulbs, garage door opener, and some surge protectors. The contractor and power company are all aware and in agreement of the cause of the issue which has been documented but I have questions as I've never been a part of anything like this and don't want to get screwed. The digging subcontractor opened a claim with their insurance company immediately but we haven't heard, it's been several days. I was provided proof that the claim has been opened. Should I contact them? HVAC repair came out and said there is a lot of confirmed damage but unknowns - should I have them replace the unit, which is what they're recommending? Do I need approval to spend the thousands of dollars that's going to cost or do I risk losing out because I did so without the adjuster stating that we were authorized to do so? Same with the exercise equipment and ovens, do they need to be diagnosed that their damaged beyond reasonable repair first? I have no idea how this works or the order in which things need to happen and they haven't called. I'm grateful for any help or advice anyone can share with me.
