    Long term Tesla

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:26 AM PST

Even if it goes down, say, 25% and this really is a bubble. Isn't Tesla a young company? If they persist and stay in business, won't it likely come back in a few years?

Can you use options to buy stocks for cheaper?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 11:19 AM PST

I am in high school learning about investing and I'm wondering exactly how options work.

So by my understanding, if a stock was worth $100, buying 100 stocks would cost $10, 000. If I bought one contract for $2 and I exercised it I would be buying 100 stocks for $200?

I've invested my first 500 dollars in the market, looking for some advice. Currently have stock in Microsoft, Planet Fitness, and Sony....

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:10 AM PST

    Hey guys.

New to the stock world. Don't have a lot of money to invest, just about 580$. But I decided placing the cash into safe bets in the stock market is better than having it waste away in a checking account/savings account.

So far, I've bought 1 stock each of Planet Fitness, Microsoft, and Sony because they have marginal but steady increases in their stock value, plus another company that I haven't heard of but seems promising known as En phase energy. I have about 224 dollars remaining, looking to either buy Facebook or Wix stock. I'd buy apple or Netflix stock but I can't afford it atm and I want a more diverse set of stocks than just all in on 1...

Anyway, guess I'm looking for input on where I should go moving forward. Learning how to do my own research atm. Considering selling the sony stock for something else since they're not really innovating in meaningful ways it appears.

Dividend stocks as a saving vehicle

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 02:20 PM PST

I'm looking at Investing around 10k in AT&T or Verizon stock in order to save for a home. I deally i want around 20ish K for a downpayment and will dollar cash average money into one of these stocks over 2-3 years. I have the money in an ally bank account and find that is growing far to slow. I think I'll put a good till canceled trailing stop loss at around 8% in order to protect my funds. I'm 24 yrs old and have some future value plays, BX, ENPH, MSFT, SBUX, NIO. Does this sound too risky? 1.60apy or a 2.20 Cv is just too slow. I want to buy in around 1.5 years.

UK resident paying tax on US shares

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 02:15 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

I live in the UK, and over the last 6 months I've been buying shares in Tesla via Interactive Investor. Thankfully they've paid off really well, and I'd like to cash out.

Over this time I've paid about $5600 for these shares, and they're currently worth $15000. I probably should have asked this before investing, but what tax am I subject to paying when selling out?

I've used an S&S ISA so AFAIK I'm not subject to UK tax for this amount - or is this only applicable to UK investments?

I'm also aware that I may be subject to US capital gains due to it being a US company.. am I wrong here?

    Thanks!

Tesla (TSLA) is going nuts compared to Panasonic (PCRFY) and Toyota (TM)

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:16 PM PST

...because it's priced in of course. Just kidding. I'm asking.

Tesla is up almost 20% today because of positive battery production news.

Toyota and Panasonic have an EV partnership and Toyota is a majority owner of Panasonic. Panasonic is up quite a bit, but nothing like TSLA. Why is TSLA up almost 20% but Panasonic is up 6%? Toyota is up .12%.

    Do people just love Tesla?

    Thoughts on TSLA long term?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:03 AM PST

Just curious what you guys think about Tesla long term. What's stopping other major automakers from releasing electric vehicles that put tesla under? Since the electric vehicle market is still fairly new, I always wonder how consumers will view tesla in the future when the majority of automakers have their own line of electric vehicles. Thoughts?

Should I sell my Tesla shares ?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 11:22 AM PST

Okay so as you all may know Tesla has done incredibly well recently. I was lucky enough to own a couple of shares of Tesla. I believe in the company but the shares now make up 35 percent of my stock portfolio. Which I feel is a lot.

I want to make safe investments and I'm not sure having 35 percent of my money in Tesla is a great idea.

Tesla stock price is it still justified?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:40 AM PST

I am an extreme fan of Tesla and what they are doing.

But Elon musk said they are rewriting their autopilot, meaning they are behind schedule.

Tesla is currently profitable, but against it's market cap of 136 billion they earn almost nothing.

Also last quarter revenue increased 1%, operating margin is down and eps down 28% on a yearly basis.

Cash flow did increase by 11% this quarter.

But why did the stock rise 300% since then?
