What does it mean to be a major stakeholder (BK case)

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:06 PM PST

In late-2010, 3G Capital of Brazil acquired a majority stake in the company, in a deal valued at US$3.26 billion. The new owners promptly initiated a restructuring of the company to reverse its fortunes. 3G, along with partner Berkshire Hathaway, eventually merged the company with the Canadian-based doughnut chain Tim Hortons, under the auspices of a new Canadian-based parent company named Restaurant Brands International.

This was taken from wikipedia (Burger King). My question is what are the pros of being a major stakeholder can you take decision of the company? Was it a good deal for BK to be sold to the fund? I don't get this negotiation really well what was the point.

What is the most realistic line of work someone can get into to walk away from their full time job and work for themselves at home?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:23 AM PST

I'm at a point in my life where I want to do my own thing. I feel like I am absolutely capable of making correct business decisions and general decisions to sustain something long term.

This year, I'm going to have my first child and along with that I am extremely depressed with my desk job that I work way too much at. I want to be able to be home more with my family, but also want us to have absolute financial security in order to take care of not only bills, but allow us to live the life we need/want to live comfortably.

I'm not looking to profit my first million dollars in six months. Even though that would be awesome. I'm just looking for something that could replace my full time job and also allow me to be a bit more free with the life changes coming soon for me.

Where to Find Statistics About Businesses/Services?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:09 PM PST

I'm looking to build a tool(website most likely) to compare companies/services such as Netflix, hulu, YouTubeTV, Spectrum(Internet & TV), and DirecTV. I've done some google-fu, but have only come across blog sites sourcing other blog sites. I'm looking for a credible source of information. I did come by statista, but you have to pay $60 USD a month(billed annually) to see sources. I've also tried contacting a few companies, they all said along the lines of, "We don't have access to those metrics". Though, that may be because I contacted their support desk?

Some of the stats I'm looking for are subscriber count, price, hardware/software capabilities, breakdowns, etc. The more stats the better. I want to build a thorough breakdown of each company using these stats.

What sources can I access to get these stats? Any tips? Anything to watch out for?

    Thanks!

How to expand a service to USA? What are some taxes and marketing strategies to consider?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:56 AM PST

    Hi all,

How does a company functioning in asia offer their printing services to end-users in the states? Has anyone done this successfully? What were the taxes and marketing strategies that you found worked for you?

For context: We want to offer printing services, as printing overseas + shipping is usually cheaper than printing locally

    Is Disney Becoming too Big?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 10:37 AM PST

I am not against Disney owning anything, but I think that Disney being the Goliath it now is, its values should reflect more than just Disney. The separate entities should be allowed to be themselves instead of everything reflecting Disney. Marvel and its cultural assets are now a lot larger than traditional Disney materials, but Marvel is not Disney, even though the latter owns the former and has every legal right to do whatever they want with it.

[QUESTION] Credit card fraud: Who is liable?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:57 AM PST

    Scenario:

I have a business where I ship physical products to my customers around the world.

Billy Bob is a credit card fraudster, and lives at / rents / has access to a property in London. He goes on the dark web, buys a card, and uses it to buy some products.

The address of the card victim ( Scouse Jimmy ) is in Liverpool. Billy Bob uses the name and billing address of Scouse Jimmy and ships the product to his own address in London. My company assumes Billy Bob is just shipping to his house and he's a company owner.

Billy Bob gets the goods, I get my ( Scouse Jimmy's) money. Scouse Jimmy realises and tells his bank.

    Question:

Who loses out here? Would I lose the money from a chargeback, or would everyone be covered?
