Medical bill sent to collections Posted: 28 Dec 2019 02:14 PM PST Hello I'm hoping someone can help with this. I have Humana through my employer. I received a spam call at the beginning of December that I answered and it was from medi credit saying I had been sent to collections for unpaid hospital bills. I asked them to confirm where the bills were sent and they gave me the address of the hospital. Now obviously this isn't the correct address. I checked Humana for an EOB on the date of service and there isn't anything. I tried calling the hospital and when I put in the account number it transferred my call back to medi credit. I called my nurse at the hospital since I am post transplant (kidney) and asked if she could look into it because I can't find anything and also let her know that the billing address that was used was for the hospital. The bill is a little over $3,000. Medi credit is saying if I pay by 12/30 they will reduce by 50%. If I pay the bill since it's already been sent to collections will that be a problem to still dispute it. I don't want my credit to be affected any more than it has. I have asked medi credit to send me itemized statements and they haven't. I've spoken to them 3 times and asked for the statements. How should I handle this? I know legally they have to send the itemized statements. I'm not really sure if I should just pay it and than fight it or what. Thank you for your help with this... [link] [comments] |
Travel insurance question: trip interruptions Posted: 28 Dec 2019 08:06 PM PST My travel insurance (Travel Guard/Aon Affinity) says it covers 100% trip cost in case of trip interruption for a covered reason such as illness. My question is, does this mean they will pay out the entire trip cost if I an insured person would have to cut it short by say 1/2 the trip duration, or would they only pay Out 1/2 the trip cost? Repair car out of pocket, or go through insurance? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 02:54 AM PST I was in an accident. Other driver admitted liability. According to a friend, the insurance could still pin a % of liability on me. Other driver wants to avoid going through insurance, but the cost of repair is too much. I can contribute to the cost of repair. I'm also about to sell the car. If I go through the insurance I might lose $1800-$5000 on re-sale, and my premium could go up. Should I contrubite to the repair to the tune of a couple of grand. Or should I go through the insurance, lose value on the car and risk a rate hike? thanks edit State: CA, Car is worth ~$21k before accident. [link] [comments] |
Getting health insurance for a newly divorced Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:24 PM PST I am about to go through a divorce and will be losing my health insurance. I work in the health-services field at a couple different offices part time and also as needed/on a temp basis. I've been at my "main" office (20 employees) over 12 years but only working 2 days (14-15 hours/week). They do offer health insurance for employees who work 30 hours a week. My question is: is it possible (legally) to ask my employee for insurance and offer to pay the difference? How much would that be approximately? Couple hundred or in the thousands? Or would I be better off just getting one privately? Please help, I'm so clueless about this topic. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:28 PM PST I just backed into the side of a car and to our surprise we didn't see any damage. I was ready to exchange insurance or give 200 cash but he told me it's fine. I told them thank you and be blessed and drove away. If they seen my license plate and change their minds can I be charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Illinois or have a claim reported against me later? [link] [comments] |
TennCare qualification advice (TN) Posted: 28 Dec 2019 11:38 AM PST TENNCARE QUALIFICATION QUESTION My situation. Never married, single, parent of two kids under the age of six, no job. I have had TennCare for my daughters and I for a few year. It is time to requalify. Their father works Overseas as a private contractor and visits home, at most, twice a year. We had agreed that we wanted me to stay home with our daughters until they both entered kindergarten. He and I are not in a relationship and have had somewhat of a rocky coparenting relationship. We have not been to court for custody as he is uninterested in fighting me for custody. Instead, we agreed that he would provide the income, as he sees fit, instead of paying child support. He owns the house we live in and stays upstairs when he visits to spend time with the girls when he visits. He has a bank account that he allows me access via debit card. He allows anywhere from full access to no access depending on how we are getting along. My name is a listed as a secondary on that account. I have my brother living with us who pays $750/ month for rent that I get paid via Venmo. We have already applied and TennCare is asking for "proof of your money you get from jobs" and "earned income". It does state that we are approved and qualify for coverage currently. It is stating that such proof includes bank statements, check copies, letters for you employer, pay stubs, Tex returns, wages forms, or a letter or bank statements if you have no income. Do I need to provide the bank statement of his account that I'm a secondary on, that we use as a spoken agreement to take care of the house and girls, or just the Venmo statement that is solely mine and the only way that I solely earn money? Just to be clear, he owns the house, but lives overseas. I don't want to cheat the system, and definitely don't want to get in trouble, but I'm just not informed on the laws and would like to do things correctly. My only concern with having them dropped is that he has a past of cutting them and myself off and can sometimes act irrationally and I want them to always have insurance coverage. [link] [comments] |
Question regarding replacing car seats. Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:26 PM PST I was recently in a car accident in Ohio. It was a minor accident, I was by myself and nobody was hurt and the other party is 100% Liable. They were insured by State Farm who is refusing to replace the 2 car seats I had in my back seat. They state they're following NHTSA standards which mention not always needing to replace a car seat, but to always follow manufacturers instructions which are to not use the seats again and replace them. State Farm refuses to say the car seats are safe, but repeat they wont be replacing them. Any advice on what to do or say to get everything resolved? Currently my wife and I have been moving the car seats from her car back and forth depending on who has the kids. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:11 PM PST Hey r/insurance I found out about this sub through my google search on what to do, and decided to post here for some advice. On December 22, I was involved in an auto accident in Georgia. I was coming down a 5 lane road, in the left lane (close to the turning lane). I had no red lights, stop signs or yield signs. A car coming out of a hotel, pulled out in front of me. As I was getting to the brakes we collided, I should also probably mention that I did not have the best traction due to it raining. It was basically a T Bone accident The other driver was found at fault by the policed and cited for failure to yield entering the road way. After speaking with insurance, State Farm, and they concluded their investigation they are only offering to pay 80% of the damages and rental fees. Also, I should mention that we both have State Farm insurance. My question is, is this settlement the best route? I do not feel I am at fault, at all in this incident. I was not speeding, and tried to brake to avoid collision. Also, I am afraid if I accept the settlement, and therefore accept partial blame, that my rates will go up for partially causing an accident. Any advice or any type of insight would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 03:51 PM PST I came back to my car after going to store and saw major car scratch, should I report using insurance or just pay for it myself? I have comprehensive with State Farm not sure if it falls under it though. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 03:29 PM PST Sorry if this is some what of a stupid question but google and insurer weren't being particularly helpful. I was in an accident a few weeks ago, The other party contacted her insurance before I had the chance to contact my own and provided policy number etc. Thankfully their insurer (Allianz) found me not liable but cannot proceed with repairs because their client has not met their "policy obligations." What can this mean? How long can I expect to wait before I hear back from them? I can open a claim of my own but id rather not lose my no claims bonus/ raise my premiums if I dont have to Not sure if his helps but im in Australia, 19yr old male and on my red P1 licence at the time of the crash. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 03:03 PM PST I just saw a bill last night saying I owe $377 because of an insurance subsidy adjustment. I have a silver plan through Kaiser on marketplace that gave me a $377 monthly tax credit for my low income (which I projected would be $16,000 at the beginning of this year). I overestimated my income and am only going to make about 12,000 this year, if that. I live in Georgia and Medicaid isn't an option for me as I don't qualify. The reason for me owing the $377 + the $78 I owe after the tax credit is because I updated my income earlier this month and now I'm left this month to pay the entire premium since I make too little (quit my job this year to attend nursing school and began a less paying online job). My school doesn't offer health insurance, unfortunately. My overall question is, my income for this entire year is going to be on the verge of not making enough to qualify for financial assistance. Am I going to have to back pay for each month's tax credits I received? I've already signed up for a renewed insurance policy (through marketplace), and I don't want to be dropped. I've spoken to Kaiser (my insurance holder) and a representative of Marketplace insurance plans and they had little to no advice to offer me 2 hours of phone calls later. [link] [comments] |
Does Aetna Not Offer Online Claim Submission? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:08 AM PST Hi, Trying to submit a claim and the only way that's popping up is if I download the form, fill it out, and then mail it in to Aetna in Texas. Please tell me there's a way to submit a claim online, if not, this is a massive flaw in their design. United Healthcare offers online form submission. Please advise. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
IA's: Average carrier required turn around times? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:03 AM PST IA's, what are the average turn around time lines you have to follow with daily claims? Most places I have worked for in the past require 24hrs to contact and inspection/final report with in 7 days. I just ask because there is a company I have been receiving the bulk of my work from for several years and their time lines are MUCH shorter than that. To the point where its impacting my family life in a negative way. I'm wanting to look for a different carrier to get work from but dont know if they are all going this way or just the one I'm getting claims for...... I used to love my job and I'm to the point now where I hate it, Ive been an IA for 10 years and if all companies are going this way probably just going to find different work. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 08:59 AM PST I was test driving a used car from a private seller. Someone pass me on the right while I was on a two lane road (one lane each direction). Obviously that means they use the grass to do this. There was a bit of contact on the right front of the test driven vehicle and I'm assuming the left rear of the vehicle causing the collision. The vehicle causing the collision did not stop. When the officer came to write the report they basically said that here in Florida The owners insurance company would pay to fix the car but then would go after me as I was the one in possession of the vehicle. Is this true? And can you elaborate with any useful information for me if so? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:32 AM PST Its early morning where I live and my insurance company help line is all robots right now. So on my way to work i hit a pothole which caused my check engine light to come on and now my car's rpm goes up on it's own ( the rpm gauge moves up and down without me doing anything) I was wondering I have full coverage on it does that cover pothole damage or no? Rear-ended: claim with my insurance or theirs? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 07:31 AM PST I have never been in a wreck as a driver before. My insurance=USAA, theirs=AAA. The other driver admitted total liability at the scene. Is there an advantage either way to filing directly with their insurance or going through mine? Thanks for the advice! [link] [comments] |
Total loss car settlement question Posted: 28 Dec 2019 01:19 PM PST I had my car totaled in an accident, and the company is trying to offer a very bad settlement that I'm not sure how it's allowed. It's a 2006 Toyota Corolla that had a scraped up passenger side, and already had a replaced bumper and rusted replacement hood. The accident saw my car totaled from front end damage. The company contacted me and said the cash value of the car was $3041, but took off 1059 for "deduction for 25% of prior damage". The final settlement minus that is $1981. Why are they taking into account damages that had nothing to do with the car being totaled? If I try to purchase a car at a dealership, with doc fees, title, tags, taxes, etc, I won't be able to afford anything better than a 1990s vehicle with 200k+ miles on it. Any insight on what I can do? Edit: in addition, I'd spent over 500$ a month prior to the accident getting a new battery and alternator installed. The state is Oklahoma [link] [comments] |
