Business Strategy in the Artificial Intelligence Economy

    Edited by

    J. Mark Munoz and Al Naqvi

Technological breakthroughs relating to artificial intelligence have redefined business operations worldwide. For example, the ways in which data are captured, processed, and utilized to optimize customer interactions have grown by leaps and bounds. The change is redefining the structural dynamics of business strategy, economic theory, and management concepts.

Leading technology companies around the world have expanded their research in artificial intelligence. With IBM's launch of Watson, a new Cognitive Era has started. Investment firms have backed numerous emerging artificial intelligence companies. Meanwhile, there is a paucity of academic and business research on the subject.

This book project is a pioneering examination of how artificial intelligence is transforming the contemporary business strategy.

How to be confident asking for the money

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:44 PM PST

I'm a 26m national advertising executive for a huge media group. I normally do 5 figure deals that compound to high 6 figures but I have a meeting tomorrow morning for a potential 7 figure deal all on its own. Issue is, the amount of money on the table is kind of making me nervous.

I dont want to mess up or even come in nervous because I know that people can smell fear and doubt. So any advice on how to overcome fear and be confident asking for 7 figures would be great. I have myself and a girlfriend whom I'd like to be proud of me so I want to go in there and blow everyone away with my presentation as well as leave them feeling confident enough to trust me with a million plus.

Thank you in advance for all the advice and taking time out of your day to help me.

What is preventing your business from providing your employees the opportunity to work remotely?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:40 PM PST

Of course this question has obvious answers for businesses that require employees to come to work; such as construction, mechanics, hands-on work, etc. For those businesses that could potentially offer remote work, what are some challenges?

TikTok seeks to distance itself from ByteDance amidst US security inquiry

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:18 PM PST

"The popular social media video app, TikTok, is seeking to distance itself from its parent company in the wake of a United States security inquiry. ByteDance, the China-based tech company that owns TikTok, is being investigated to determine if the user data it collects is stored securely. Critics have raised concerns that the data could be shared with the Chinese authorities.

Despite being much newer than other platforms, TikTok has been growing rapidly, reaching 1.5 billion downloads earlier this year. The app's popularity has placed it in direct competition with Facebook and Instagram. Although Instagram, having reached 1 billion active users in 2018, is still bigger than TikTok, the latter was downloaded nearly 250 million more times than Instagram in 2019 and is on the verge of surpassing the picture-sharing app in active users too."

On November 30, after receiving instruction from the Singapore government, Facebook added a "correction notice" to an article posted by the States Times Review. Seeking advice on holding accountability / giving consequences in our company

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 03:57 PM PST

I am part of the leadership team at a small agency ( ~8 workers) and we are struggling to find the best way to help our accountability while maintaining positive culture.

We all have a lot on our plates with work since we are so small, so often times to-do's will not get done, or people will not follow through with what they said they originally could handle.

We've identified that we need to have better accountability, as well as consequences if things aren't done porperly. However, unlike big companies we can't just afford to fire people if they make a few mistakes.

Do you have any advice on how to enhance accountability? This may sound like a silly question but it really is a struggle for us as we have been scaling quite quickly over the past year.

    Any help is appreciated!
