    Done done and done

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 05:22 PM PST

Just passed REG. Highest score yet...92. Thought I failed.

Took me 9 months, 20 years out of school, retaught myself everything . Did it mostly out of fear from a major career setback. If I can do this, anybody can. Good luck everybody!!

Now I need to find a job.

Just got the e-mail...results coming out on January 7, 2020...see below:

    Dear CFE Student,

Thank you for your patience following the September 2019 CFE. We know this has been an anxious time as you await your results. We are writing to inform you that the review into the fairness and integrity of the marking process has officially concluded. The Board of Examiners has marked all exams, guided by detailed statistical analyses and the recommendations of multiple experts, including the third-party psychometrician retained through Borden Ladner Gervais LLP.

Over the last number of months, the Profession has undertaken a comprehensive process to ensure that all students are treated fairly. We are now finalizing the marking process, including ensuring that provincial requirements are met. We are pleased to announce that official results will be available to students on January 7. Results will be posted online by 10:00 AM EST. A link will be provided that morning.

On January 7th, a summary of the Board of Examiners' marking process will be available on the CPA Canada website. At that time, we will also be sharing detailed information about future opportunities for rewrites and other remedial options available to students if required.

Thank you again for your patience during this time.

Coffee Date With Big 4 Partner

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 06:16 PM PST

I am currently a sophomore at big 4 target school and I'm taking financial accounting right now. I leveraged my connections and got a big 4 partner agreed to get coffee with me next week. What should I expect? Is the partner going to ask me: Audit or Tax. What questions should I ask? The person that got me to connect to the partner, told me it doesn't matter what I ask, its more about developing a relationship. Is this true?

Negativity and memes aside, is a career in Accounting worth it in the future?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 08:35 PM PST

I am in my second year of uni, and I am still somewhat finding my way. I like working with data and financial statements, mostly data tho. However, with the all the memes and downright hatred for accounting amongst the people on here, I keep questioning whether I want to do this or not

What does it take to actually get fired from big 4 for underperformance?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:32 AM PST

Hi... big 4 like to ramp on and on about moderation, feedback and job reviews on their scale of 1-5.

But what actually happens for example if you turn up at 9am and leave at 5:30 every day. Or you don't do any work on weekends or after you role off a job. Is this enough to get fired?

If you want to leave after making senior, do you actually need to go above and beyond and buy into the unrealistic expectations?

How my finals be waiting for me...

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 03:15 AM PST

I'm a Business student who really needs help with their accounting coursework. I feel very stuck and clueless.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:39 PM PST

I have 10 days to do this coursework and my brain seems to be not working properly. Please help me. I'm really desperate to pass this.

Edit: I have some great people offering me help. I really appreciate how friendly this subreddit is

Just to make it easier to show my coursework, I have uploaded them to googledocs

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DzM8URiSq2mYZFw8shpJ9sZFmDge25Py9L3mcDEZhVY/edit#gid=944573469

As you can see above, I've barely started it. I don't even know how to fill in the blue calculation boxes to be honest. I would be extremely greatful if someone could help or mentor me.

My application is under review but my application is incomplete and I can't edit it

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 05:58 PM PST

I met a big firm's HR/graduate recruiter and told her I applied in Feb but was rejected, now I need to wait another year before I can apply again. She told me to contact her on LinkedIn, which I did, and she invited me to a video interview and told me to let her know when I've completed it.

The VI was for a graduate position in Enterprise Audit & Assurance in a different state which is not the stream I wanted to go into and I don't really want to relocate.

I received an email yesterday saying I've passed the initial stages and now they're reviewing applications and culling. I logged on to update my info and reviewed my application, turns out all the questions (e.g. what attracts you to our company and this services line, etc.) have all been left unanswered. Not surprising since the HR allowed me to skip straight to the VI.

I sent her a message on LinkedIn last night asking about this but haven't received a response yet, even though she's online. Should I send her an email? Or will I be too pushy. I really want to work at this firm so I don't want to screw up my chances

Can someone explain this to me? "Your automatic enrollment will be effective after the first of the month following 90 days of service at a deferred rate of 3 .25% of your annual salary. The firm will match 100% on the first 1 % of eligible compensation deferred and 50% on the next 5% deferred."

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:49 PM PST

I tried researching it on my own and I can't quite get a grasp on it. I can't tell if this is a good or bad 401(k).

What is Best laptop for going back to School for Accounting?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:25 PM PST

Sorry if this is a little off topic. But I'm going back to school this summer for an accounting degree and I wanted to know what were the best laptops to use.

I need a new one anyway and have a budget of about $800. My program is completely online so I am looking for a good laptop. That will perform well and last a long time.
