If we buy something in Oregon and ship it to a customer in Washington do we pay Washington or Oregon sales taxes? We are forklift brokers.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 02:17 PM PDT

Pretty much what the title explains, we are brokering a deal for forklifts originating from Oregon and being shipped to Washington. Because we are purchasing them from Oregon which has no sales tax and the company is then shipping them to its final destination in Washington which has a 9% sales tax we are curious as to which sales tax we would need to pay.

Probably a very basic question but we have never dealt with this before and any feedback is appreciated!

    Computer Business Startup Help

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:15 PM PDT

Hi all, just wanted some general information as I started throwing around the idea of finally being serious about starting my own business building and repairing computers. I started having this idea about 7 years ago and have wanted to try since then. I have spent the last 10 years building and repairing computers as a hobby for friends and family and I really enjoy it. However, now that the company I work for is laying off our entire IT department (yay for outsourcing!!! /s) in 6 months, I figure now is a good time I may finally start actually acting on my idea! Any help with how to market myself, the do's and don'ts, etc? Thank you!

T-shirts design and business with "Artist shops"

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:52 PM PDT

Hey, everyone! I have question about t-shirts business. My friend found company "Artist shops" that working with graphic designers and illustrators. On website they selling and shipping t-shirts and designers got commissions from each peace. So my friend pushing me to make oil paintings on canvas (16 in x 20 in, 11 peaces). Basically we can be partners, I'll make design and paint, he took care about digitization, promoting, copyright, Instagram etc. All profit we can split half and half. Is it worth it? It's a lot of work with oil paintings. If this business will make at least $1000-1500 a month it shoud be not bad, but I feel it's a trap and waste of time. I'm in situations when I extreamly need stable income and I don't have money to invest, so I can't waste whole month for vague projects. Need advice from people who have experience. Thank you in advance.

Software for pricing, Tracking Quotes, and generating proposals?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 06:56 AM PDT

I began working for a startup in 2012, I was the third employee, we have a ton more now. I oversee the sales engineering side of our company and one thing we've struggled with is making a more official way of quoting. We use different documents and I'd like to make this more central.

    Bid Summary

This is an excel spreadsheet we manually fill out with pricing. We do have some Vlookup tables for certain model numbers that match a price, but for the most part this is manual. I'm OK with it being manual, but would like to be able to fill out tables with models/pricing so that I can select a vendor, then select a model, and it'll populate the pricing.

Once this is filled out, we have some really loose VBA code that automatically generates a proposal.

    Proposal

This is generated automatically by the VBA macro I listed above. It's very difficult to modify this as we don't have a dedicated programmer (yet). We typically have to manually fill out a lot of rows, which is inconvenient but we get around it.

    Quotes

This is a spreadsheet we use to track our quotes. We don't always open it to add a job because we're so busy, and it's mainly because we can't keep it open all the time since only one person can go in it at a time.

Overall we would love to consolidate this into one software/system. We've considered hiring a programmer to do this internally and probably will in the future but does anyone use a software for this?
