What slowdown? China's riding to the rescue of luxury brands Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:59 PM PDT BEIJING/LONDON (Reuters) - When Tiffany & Co said this month it was sending its priciest jewelry to mainland China to reach wealthy shoppers no longer jet-setting abroad, it reflected a trend helping global luxury brands weather a Chinese economic slowdown. Well-off Chinese consumers, whose trips to fashion capitals like New York and Paris have long buttressed luxury-sector sales, are increasingly staying at home because of a weaker yuan currency which has blunted their overseas firepower. Hong Kong, another top shopping destination, has also become less appealing due to mass anti-government protests that have erupted into violence on some occasions. [link] [comments]

How do you not get intimidated by trading with a large portfolio? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:04 AM PDT I've been mostly a small trader for the past year or so, mostly hovering around 500-2000$. I've recently started getting pretty consistent with trading and decided to test myself on a 5000$ portfolio. While I still intend to stick to what I've been doing right, how do you like... not get nervous with trading that much money? They always say to trade with money that you can live without. But even a well-to-do trader would be pretty bummed if he lost say 50% of a 30,000$ portfolio, even if he has a checking account with 100,000 in it. What are some easy ways for me to keep my mental game strong entering next week? I'm aware the % value is what matters more than dollar value. But with a 5k portfolio, even a 2% gain or loss can be a week's worth of groceries. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:09 PM PDT Hi all! First post here, making videos for these types of stocks for a large discord community so I thought I'd share thoughts on reddit too. Strong feeling here that this is going to dump heavy next week back to the 2.5 levels. It ran today over 100% on NO news at all. Not just that but had over 61 million volume, something it has never done in a single day before, even during the bitcoin craze of late 2017 and early 2018. Feel like communities pumped this hardcore and that it's going to come down hard next week. Feel free to comment any thoughts! [link] [comments]

$AMZN Major buyers jumped in on the dip. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 11:24 AM PDT The recovery from the after hours selloff must be viewed as extremely bullish and technically perfect. Monthly support held and the retrace has now stalled at the Fibonacci golden pocket, which will act a strong resistance. Hopefully it closes above the middle BB to encourage bullish sentiment for next week. https://www.tradingview.com/chart/AMZN/FW0ySFym-AMZN-Major-buyers-jumped-in-on-the-dip/ [link] [comments]

What's up with OKTA insider selling? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:39 PM PDT I really like this company. But the constant insider sales make me hesitant given it's such a young company. The CEO, CFO, and tons of other people are selling huge majority of their shares. Apparently the CEO sold over 200k shares and now only has a few thousand left? I understand wanting to sell some to have money for things, but selling the majority of them seems odd. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:21 AM PDT I ran a stock screener for any remaining value stocks out there - I mostly invest using a loose interpretation of Graham/Buffet. Came across CENT, (Central Garden & Pet) too good to be true? They're a company in the pet supply and gardening business that grows via acquisitions and reminds me of Berkshire. No rush to buy, only acquire profitable businesses as they come along and shed the unprofitable components of acquisitions. All managers seem very straightforward and honest on conference calls and despite the size of the company, small cap, analysts from Chase and other large banks were on the earnings calls. Solid earnings year over year, just hired a new CEO who was previously at Mondelez in a very seamless transition process, and they're very optimistic about the next earnings release. PB is 1.65 PE is 16.91 That puts it a hair over the Graham multiple, but in this inflated market it's pretty impressive. Anyone see flaws I'm not seeing?
