CEO defends Beyond Meat as shares tank: ‘My focus is entirely on growing this business’ Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:55 AM PDT https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/29/beyond-meat-ceo-my-focus-is-entirely-on-growing-this-business.html Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown says the alternative meat producer is concentrating on disrupting the food industry rather than partnering with industry giants. "People have asked me, 'Do you want to do a partnership with a larger company?' I have no interest in that. I want to be that larger company," he says. Shares of Beyond Meat were plunging, with insiders free for the first time Tuesday to sell stock after the May initial public offering. Despite Tuesday's weakness and other bouts of recent selling, the stock was still up more than 230% since its IPO was priced at $25 per share. [link] [comments] |

How to setup Twitter to stream the latest breaking economic news Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:01 PM PDT I wrote a guide here on how to setup Twitter / Tweetdeck to have a clean and concise live streaming news feed that caters to Forex traders who are impacted by economic breaking news. How to setup Twitter to stream the latest currency and economic news in 2019 and 2020 I hope people find it useful and I'm looking for any feedback you might have regarding which sources might be good to add to the list I provided. Let me know what you think. :) [link] [comments] |
Here’s how the stock market tends to perform after the Fed cuts interest rates 3 times in a row Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:08 PM PDT Third time's a charm for Wall Street, with the S&P 500 surging 10% after three straight interest rates cuts Wall Street is bracing for what seems almost assuredly to be a third interest rate cut in as many meetings of the Federal Reserve on Wednesday afternoon. And although there may be some trepidation about policy makers delivering another dose of monetary easing to a stock market that is at or near records, history shows that the market tends to extend its gains after three successive interest-rate cuts of a quarter percentage point, according to data from LPL Financial (see chart below). The Fed’s next rate decision can’t hide the fact that stocks are overvalued Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:01 AM PDT Why it pays to fight the 'Fed model' when it comes to your stocks by Mark Hulbert The "Fed model" won't help you position your portfolio in response to the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision later this week. I'm referring to the famous stock-market valuation model that is bullish if the U.S. market's earnings yield (the inverse of the P/E ratio) is high and rising, relative to the 10-year Treasury yield, and bearish if it's low and declining. Despite its name, however, this model does not carry the Federal Reserve's endorsement or seal of approval. Which is hardly a surprise, since the Fed model's track record is no better than a coin flip, statistically speaking. This is good news if you worry that the stock market will plunge if the Fed chooses to keep rates steady at its interest-rate-setting meeting later this week, and bad news if you're hoping that a rate cut will propel the stock market higher. If the market nevertheless does react in these ways, you should bet that the market will eventually correct its error. [link] [comments] |

Does anyone know if there is a ticker on ThinkOrSwim for the fed balance sheet level? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:55 AM PDT Question in title EDIT: I found the answer. WALCL:FRED Also, it appears most any chart available on the FRED site, can be pulled on the ThinkOrSwim app by typing the ticker abbreviation listed on the FRED site, followed by :FRED. So for the balance sheet, it is WALCL, then you just add :FRED. [link] [comments] |

$230 Put on Apple Due in April 2020 Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:54 AM PDT So basically, I feel like Apple hasn't been doing much lately and their current $1.125 Trillion valuation is too high. Bought put expiring in April 2020 for $860 and it's now up $150. Should I wait until tomorrow after the earnings report or sell it before and just take my small gains? The new iPhone 11 doesn't look that special for many people to buy (I think they will miss big on this). They are finally moving into more software but it will be risky since their are so many players in it currently (Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, Netflix, etc). Are the federal interest rate cuts which will be announced tomorrow at 2 pm going to affect the price of Apple in any way? If so, how? Taking a big bet on Apple dropping maybe 5% after earnings... Extremely nervous but it seems logical to me. Don't know if I just have a deep hate for Apple products or I'm thinking logically. What do you guys think? All opinions are welcome. [link] [comments] |

HSBC (0005.HK) Shares Slump After Weak Q3 Report Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:04 AM PDT |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:43 PM PDT JetBlue rose last week after reporting strong Q3 results. Adjusted earnings were up 32% and the CEO said the company was still "on track to deliver on our goal of $2.50 to 3.00 dollars EPS in 2020" RASM was hit in the Caribbean by Hurricane Dorian but offset by cost improvements. Domestically RASM outperformed the industry and improved by over 3%. Stock price has now increased to $19.23 but still looks cheap compared to 2020 guidance. Beyond 2020 JBLU's plan to ditch 60 Embraer regional jets (and operate solely Airbus aircraft) should improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs further. Please feel free to "FOLLOW" me if you would like to see my regular updates during the week. This is not a recommendation to buy or sell. Stocks are risky and not suitable for everybody. Please do your own research. [link] [comments] |
