Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!

Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.

Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Side hustles that don't involve going into business for yourself?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:47 PM PDT

What are some ways that you earn extra money through a second employer/job? How much do you earn from it? Whether it's a regular part-time job, seasonal work, or some type of one-time gig. I've seen a lot of people say they own real estate or turn their hobby into a business or have created some sort of passive income through creating something, but I'm looking at trying to earn some extra money where I can clock in, clock out and keep my "work" life and "personal" life separate.

So yeah, any ideas are appreciated!

Future market forecasts (trending) in coming decades

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:03 AM PDT

Many forecasters are seeing lower returns in the market in the coming decades.

This isn't market timing. I mentioned that we can't predict each day's weather, but weather forecasters do provide trend and forecasts for, say, the coming winter as warmer and wetter.

Forbes and most others are seeing lower returns in the coming decades.

The point is to aim high for goals in life, because things can go sideways. Whether investing or taking a road trip.
