Academic principal in China, looking for business ideas in the US

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 03:07 AM PDT

Hello all. I am a Chinese American, who's been living in China for the past 7 years. I have started and closed an English training center for 2 years, and am now working as the academic principal in an international high school.

I am looking for business ideas that can allow me to return to the US. The main issue is that I don't have the professional certification to work as a principal in the US. And I don't want to restart my career as a teacher back home. What I have are extensive management, teaching skills, as well as good social and language skills (Cantonese is my mother tongue. I am also fluent in English and Mandarin) And since I have run my tutoring center before, I have some experience with business so I am not starting fresh. Lastly, I will have saved up about 40k USD next year.

I thought of several business ideas to leverage my existing skill sets, but starting a tutoring center seems to be very capital intensive, and since I have been away for a long time, I prefer to get a solid grasp of how things are before committing something so capital heavy. I have looked into Amazon FBA, but honestly it's sort of out of my elements and I won't be using my own skills much, though it's relatively easy to get started.

What are some business ideas for this situation? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

How to 'Win" in a Business Career?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 09:06 AM PDT

In business, are the winners usually the smartest or the most persuasive? Is someone who is somewhat smart but very persuasive more likely to succeed versus someone extremely smart but less persuasive? Also, are you one day hoping to start a business of your own, or do you plan on staying in the job market? Thanks

Can you add a DBA to an LLC?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 07:47 AM PDT

I have an LLC in a name that doesn't fit with the new business I'm interested in pursuing. Can I add a DBA to my existing LLC? To tell the truth I haven't done a thing with the LLC, I would rather change the LLC name but it's probably easier to do the DBA, right?
