Am I expecting something from my agent that I shouldn't? Insurance

Am I expecting something from my agent that I shouldn't? Insurance

Am I expecting something from my agent that I shouldn't?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 07:13 AM PDT

Should I be expecting my insurance agent to look over our policies to see if they can save us money or is that totally up to me? Our homeowners and auto are bundled and when they went up again this year I told my agent that I was shopping it around and did they want to look it over before I just left. After they looked over our polices and offered us another option they could save us about $750.00 a year. I then asked them to look over my son's auto policy and the could save him over $800.00 a year. Am I wrong to think my agent should be looking at and reviewing our policies?

Question about home owner claim and trusts and if I’ll get hit with rate hikes

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 05:12 AM PDT

We have a home in a trust set up as "for the benefit of " and the mortgage isn't even in our name - it's no recourse. The entire thing is held in an IRA which is in our name, but everything about the house is this weird IRS rule about being a step removed from us - is this going to ding us on our regular home owners when we make a claim on that house?

Insurance asking for a lease to cover rental reimbursement

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 07:22 AM PDT

Understandably, insurance wants to see an active lease to prove that I have someone living in my residence that has been uninhabitable since June.

I've had family staying there for about 3 years, but it's month-to-month. They are paying me, but we've never had an official lease. I feel that I am entitled to the loss as my insurance policy covers it. What should I do in this scenario? If I say I have no lease, they would surely deny my rental reimbursement.

Am I allowed to write up something that details the terms of the property and back-date it? If my family signs off and agrees that the terms match what they have been paying and receiving from me thus far, is that acceptable?

    Thanks for your help.

    Joint Ownership Of Cars

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 04:50 PM PDT

I moved away from my parents (IL) and I am getting insurance in (AR). My Dad owns a few cars and I was wondering if my Dad and I can do joint ownership of the cars. This hopefully would allow us to own multiple cars and trade them among each other without registration fees. Is this possible or no? Also, the cars that we would be trading would not be our daily drivers. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Thank you community!

    Entyvio claims denied

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 04:48 PM PDT

We always had trouble with our entyvio insurance claims, getting denied, resubmitted, sometimes paid by the financial assistance medication program, but they have always sorted themselves out. But currently we might have an issue.

Two years ago, the company I work for, that provides our insurance, divided our medical and pharmacy insurance with different providers. I approached HR, and they told me that entyvio falls under a medical procedure so it would continue to work under our original insurance. But somehow now we got a call that insurance decided not to pay the last three infusions and that we should have received a letter saying that we should get this treatment with our pharmacy insurance. We never received such letter, but the entyvio provider is now requesting the letter, saying they will attempt to sort it out. But if not successful we would be responsible for over 60k.

Any ideas or tips on how to manage this? Would it make sense to involve my HR department based on my previous conversation? Should we get the letter mentioned to the provider, our would that evidence be used against us? Should we seek help from a third party? I am just frustrated that this is happening after 3 treatments and just know they are speaking up, each treatment is over 20k.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot to mention the issue might be that the pharmacy insurance doesn't work with our current provider. Would that mean that it is out of network and our maximum we might have to pay if it comes to the worst would be the out of network deductible?

    My Parked Car Was Hit!

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 04:04 PM PDT

On Saturday morning I was home and heard a crash and looked outside and saw someone drove right into the back of my car. They proceeded to back up and tried to take off. I chased him down and got him to stop.

I called the police and they came and took a report. They cited him for careless and wreckless driving. The officer also gave me his insurance info. I called his insurance company which is Progressive.

I had an adjuster reach out that evening. She kept saying that she had to talk to the insured and there would be a coverage review. She kept telling me that there most likely would not be coverage for this kind of loss and I should call my insurance company.

I called my insurance company which is Farm Bureau. I was informed that I only have liability coverage and that they would not cover the damages.

Here I am stuck in the middle. Progressive is saying they have to do some kind of coverage review and my insurance won't help because of liability only.

Where do I go from here!

Had an accident and filed a claim with the other persons insurance. Should I call them if I haven’t heard back?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 03:20 AM PDT

This was my first accident. I was told to file a claim with the other person's insurance if they're at fault so I did right after it happened. They told me a claims representative/adjuster would contact me within a business day. Got the confirmation email, but they never called. However, my insurance called me the next day and told me the other person filed a claim against me. Do I call the other insurance company and see what's up or is my insurance now the point of contact? It's been 4 business days.

Should I get auto insurance under me only?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 01:12 AM PDT

I am currently enrolled in college full-time with a side job and had recently bought a new car in full, however, a year before. I was in an accident that was my fault in another state. It was for reckless driving in Florida (1 point) due to a near head-on collision( not my car). No one was hurt as the car was not going very fast. (20-30mph) Fast forward to the present and all my insurance quotes are in the thousands. They only cover liability and i don't have the money to pay off 250$ per month on car insurance and other expenses.

The only other option I had was to have the car insured under someone elses policy, that person being my brother. I decided to have the car insured under him and instead of the policy rate being 1500$ every 6 months. It instead was 286$. I am not insured under the policy but I do use the car to commute to school and work. My rates have gone down, but im facing the dilemma of whether i should get my own insurance at 729$ (barebones liability) or have the car insured under my brother again with the risk if there were in an accident that there would be issues int he future.

What decision should i take? Will my rate go down at the same pace if i did not have insurance for another 6 months or would it go down faster if i paid for my own insurance. I'd love any advice. Thank You! ( also, I was told that it is okay to have someone elses insurance cover your car but its highly unrecommended, legally i am allowed to do so)

    California car crash

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:42 AM PDT

So just got into a car crash in my leased mercedes benz. Rear ended the person in front of me. The person hit has minor damages to his back bumper.

My cars front right head light and bumper is messed up and hood is bent. No damage to my wheels hard to imagine what I'm trying to explain. Car is still drivable

Overall I have geico full coverage I made a claim with them but this is my first time having an accident after driving for years and worst of all on a lease car.. This is my first car crash was wondering what happens? Do i just pay the 500$ deductible have geico cover everything and let them fix my car and have it covered by geico warranty? What if the frame is damaged to my lease car and is considered totaled.. will I end up having to buy the car and part it out 😭? Is my insurance going to go up.. :/ currently paying around 1.1k per 6 month If the frame is damaged should I lease another car from my leasing agent to avoid insurance claim?

If anyone can provide information that would be greatly appreciated 😔 not a good week for me overall

Scraped a cement pillar in my garage, how much will this increase my premiums?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:20 AM PDT

Recently, I scraped my car pretty badly on a cement pillar in my garage and I've been given a quote for about $3000 in repairs at several local body shops.

If I file a claim, how much more can I expect to pay for my premiums? And will this affect my accident record (i.e. other insurance companies will also offer me more expensive rates)?

Does geico charge cancellation fee for auto insurance ? Mine got picked up for auto renewal received advance notification today with renewal date and payment details.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 09:02 PM PDT

I had a good experience with my current auto insurance geico but rates got hiked a lot due to my accident history . Does geico charge cancellation fee for auto insurance ? Mine got picked up for auto renewal ..even received advance notification stating that insurance will get renewed within next 10 days.

Am thinking of switching to esurance, as it gives a cheaper quote than geico. is it better than geico ?

What if I want to see a specialist but my insurance doesn't cover any within my area?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 08:12 PM PDT

My health insurance covers 20 acupuncture sessions a year and I was considering using them. But my health insurance finder doesn't show any that accept my insurance within a 100 miles. If that is the case, can I go to another acupuncturist and get reimbursed by insurance later or something?

This is hardly a serious health issue or something I need, but I assume there must be some mechanism for applying for coverage at a healthcare provider not listed through my insurance's directory.

My parked car was hit this morning. Is this normal?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:50 PM PDT

My parked car was hit this morning and my surveillance camera caught it perfectly. The guy who hit it was nice and accepted responsibility.

I called my insurance. Ameriprise (from Costco) and they told me to handle it by myself with the others insurance company. He said if they handle it, I will be charged my deductible and I might not get it back if they can't recoup it. He told me that my insurance company will cover everything and then they will recoup the money which will count as a claim on my record.

The other guy has insurance, said he did it. I have video. Is my insurance company supposed to help me here, or is this a normal response?

Gas reimbursement when electric vehicle damaged

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:01 PM PDT

I was rear ended in my electric vehicle two months ago. I have solar on my house and charge my vehicle in my garage. They gave me a gas rental car.

The repairs are finished so I turned in all of my gas receipts and asked for reimbursement, since gas is not a normal cost for me. The insurance agent is refusing. Are there any laws / standards that I can bring to him to support my request?

I am in Arizona if that helps. It's only $370 but at this point it's the principle.

    Car accident insurance question

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 03:35 PM PDT

i got into a "small" rear end accident, where I was the at fault driver. I have a small crack on my bumper which I don't really care about and I'm not going to fix. The car I hit isn't too damaged as well, A small piece of plastic sticking out of her bumper (pics below). She was also driving a rental car. My question is, do insurance care about severity of accident and are they forgiving for minor accidents, Or is an accident an accident in the eyes of insurance. I told her I didn't want to go through insurance and I will pay for the damages but she hasn't called me yet and might have just went through the insurance. Im also 22 , so I would be considered a young driver.

Things to start doing now that I got health insurance

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 03:32 PM PDT

I have health, dental and vision insurance all for about $300 a month by my employer and they pay for like 1/2 of it too.

Thing is... I've never had insurance before, I'm 20 years old soon turning 21 what should I do with it to maximize its usage and not feel like I'm throwing $3600 a year into the wind?

I haven't been to the dentist in 2 years , teeth seem fine Recently got an eye exam Just got an STI Test

    Car Insurance

If one is driving a car owned by someone else (e.g. parent/grandparent) and is stopped and unable to provide proof of insurance, does that go on the record of the owner of the car or the driver?

    Door Dash

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 11:28 AM PDT

I am really confused by doordash and how to remained covered in all situations. Doordash has coverage for while I am in possession of food to deliver, but am I covered when driving to a restaurant? I called my insurance to see if rideshare insurance would cover me, but they said it would not, as that is only for people and didn't have insurance for when I was driving with goods in my car. Am I covered through or not? How does anyone drive for doordash?

Not making a claim, but other party will (Ontario, Canada)

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 03:05 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

So a couple of weeks ago, we were involved in a minor stop and go fender bender in rush hour. Our car hit the one in front of us (making us at fault). There was no visible damage to our car, but the car we hit had some scrapes and dents on the bumper. We suggested covering the repairs out of pocket, but the other party insisted on going through insurance. There was less than $2000 damage (it seems) so the Police also refused to take a report (when we contacted them later that day).

I'm not sure what we're supposed to do next? Do I have to contact our insurance company? Do we wait to hear from them? My record has been clean for over 10 years, should we expect a significant bump in premiums? And lastly, the other driver mentioned they were insistent on going through insurance because they had another major accident recently, I'm worried about the potential for an outrageous injury claim down the road (maybe I'm paranoid?). Can I do anything to prevent that?

    Thanks in advance!

FLorida - Can a husband and wife be separately insured for their vehicles?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 08:07 AM PDT

If we both have separate assets and accounts (second marriage for both of us), and we each have our own vehicles in our own names, are we liable if one or the other has an at fault accident? . I have an umbrella on my assets, but I don't see why I need to have to umbrella his. We are both basically retired living on passive income I have from a rental. (going directly into my separate account). (I have chatted with Geico and they are adamant that I must have his vehicles on my umbrella policy even though I don't own either of them and don't drive either of them, at a cost of $300 annually for umbrella for them)

A coworker hit me from behind after work. His fault, uncontested. Need to know my rights.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 01:55 PM PDT

For reference I'm in Utah. The car I was driving is VERY old, but has been steady and trustworthy for years and I want to keep driving it. It is drivable but got squished pretty good from behind. Other driver made an immediate claim from their insurance. We didn't file a report or anything. Their insurance company called and said they'd send out someone to look but based on the age, its probably 'totaled'. What does that mean for me? Do I only get what they're willing to offer me, what they decide? If they decide my car is garbage I just have to accept that?
